Great looking layout!
Cool video and channel just subscribed. Hope to see more
Someone needs to render assistance to the man in the yellow coat at the station in Bainbridge, NY. It is obvious he has either been shot or had a heart attack. Just not normal to lie on the ground in a parking lot.
Thanks for watching! He did indeed meet with a bad ending
Are the towns on this layout loosely based on the real thing? I’m from the bainbridge Sidney area
Hello thanks for watching, Yes sort of, everything has to be compress for space but I tried to convey the feel of these towns when the railroads were still in some demand. Some of the industries names are taken but not modeled exactly. Just tried to capture the mood. I have made several visits to the areas for ideas.
Very nice!
thanks
Great trackwork, Very smooth movement of rolling stock, no shaking or bouncing of the cars.
Thanks everything starts with good trackwork, there are some spots i wish i could do over.
Wonderful video and gorgeous layout!
Thanks Mark
Excellent
Fantastic layout, excellent modeling.
thanks for stoping by.
Excelente workmanship
Thanks for watching!
Great layout
Thanks!
The Oneonta yard scenes are great! I am planning on doing a dedicated D&H layout one day focusing on Oneonta (since I went to school there) and the immediate surrounding areas. So this definitely gives me some inspiration / ideas. I have already started my D&H collection (sticking with mostly steam) that I am currently showcasing on my channel and continue to update as the collection grows.
Great! Would be good to see your progress. Lots going on there in Oneonta in the steam days
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Derrick Amir Instablaster :)
@Axel Bishop thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Axel Bishop it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy! Thanks so much you saved my account!
Super awesome layout! Incredible detail and quality! Well done!
Thanks for the comment and view
Don't stop weathering those few yellow trucks and red brick walls… Make sure everything gets some dust. Wow so amazing. I commented twice!
Will do, its an ongoing process, I move from one thing to the other
so impressed. Wow. Amazing foliage and gas stations or bric-a-brack. where are you? I hope you're near Philadelphia. Inspiring for my Christmas display biz.
Central NJ
Great video of a fantastic layout. One of the deeper horns sounds exactly like a tripod from War of the Worlds. Thank heavens the incredible realism of this layout didn’t extend to its wonton destruction by Martians.
Wish we were able to edit the sound
Fantastic layout. But the horn sounds detracted for sure.
Thanks the horn was annoying but it was in the editing process
nice layout. great looking train.
That God awful horn sound sounds like something out of a horror movie . I ought to know I've watched enough of them in my life . Other then that great layout .
Just seeing this video for the first time I don’t know how I missed it but you have captured my favorite railroad and its going to be a big help in building my D&H layout. Nice work
Simone Taormina thanks for watching and the kind words, let me know if you have any questions
dnhman yes I have tons of questions but I’m not really a Facebook or other internet means except for emailing .Did the D&H interchange with the Erie or EL ? If so where?
Simone Taormina you search on google but think there were connections in Binghamton and Sayre PA
dnhman thank you for your reply. I have looked at google and much more and what I can see it looks like Binghamton NY and Scranton /Wilkes Barre PA.
At 10:56, is that a Rutland RR Alco parked by the station?
Chuck Hoover No that’s another D&H, RS3 unit,, though I do like Rutland schemes. Thanks for watching!!
Amazing! Awesome! Absolument superbe! Bravo.
WOW !
Beautiful layout! I love the scenery. It reminds me of the Adirondack Mountains and the Saratoga & North Creek!- Joey
Touch of the Brush Model Weathering thanks ,, we were hoping to catch a sense of the upstate areas
LOOKS fantastic forgot one thing, one billion potholes.
fantastic.
R/T Clark B thx
No Rock Dude coming into Sidney!
?
There is a crazy guy in Sidney called Rock Dude. His compound is across the first crossing in town, which is north of the lumber yard. He’s got all types of crazy shit, like buildings with boats on their roofs. He’s got a sign that says,” I’m looking for a sign from one of my kind.”
Your models are nice. I’ve been almost 20 years with the company.
excellent, I will be going up there when the weather is bit nicer will that up, might be a good add, thanks for sharing!! @@brianburns7211
I looked on Google Maps, and Rock Dude is on Willow Street.
Excellent video of a beautiful layout!
Thanks for watching and the kind comment.
Beautiful modeling job. I thought it was real! But especially as a producer of documentaries, I loved the camera work, perspective, and knowledge of when to shoot still and integrate motion. Great job guys. The world's first and greatest hobby!
Jeff Karrow wow Jeff thanks for your nice feedback and for taking time to watch. We need to get off our duffs and post more.
Beautiful layout
Thanks
Wonderful video of your excellent layout. Particularly impressive are your street scene modeling, and placement of vehicles and people---a fun little "living" universe. I would love to see a track plan. Congrats on such fine detail, and achieving such a realistically weathered pallet. How many years have been spent accomplishing this?
John Goldstein thanks for the kind words, this layout has been a work in progress now about ten years now. We do have regular operation sessions which last about 4 hours.
subbed and liked. I will be excited to see what you do next, this video is fantastic
Robert Trainor thanks for watching, we need to get busy!!
EXCELLENT video! Awesome blend of scenery shots along with cab shots. LOTs of scenery, makes for a good video. Something happening everywhere. A nice community feel for the layout. Good job!
Joe Nickence thanks for watching and your kind words
What was the camera used on board the train? I like the steady shot! Also a nice realistic display and videography!
TheOtherSide thanks! The camera was a standard go pro we just wanted to test out
One of the problems I have with the look of all model railroads (and this has nothing to do with the skill of those who built them) is the turnouts. I have yet to see a truly realistic looking model railroad turnout. I don't know why manufacturers make the gap in the rails as wide as they do. But other than that, which I know is beyond your control, your layout is magnificent.
Thanks, it is true about the turnouts, even some of the more costly ones are not prototypical, i had built this layout at time i was on severe budget so had to make do with what I could afford. Additionally I do not possess the skill to handlay turnouts. I will say from a performance perspective these Atlas turnouts have been very reliable. Thanks for watching !!
nice video.enjoyed seeing west coast cars sac valley moulding,. loved your in cab shots
Thanks!!
Wow great ride along. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for stopping by, hope we can get time to make more,,
Just came across this video and all I can say is WOW! Great job putting it together - very fun to watch. Oh yeah, great modeling too! 😎👍 Ignore the nitpickers, you've done a great job! Please make more. Thanks for sharing your neck of the woods.
Thanks for the kind words, I hope we can get another vid out soon
Hi mate the trains are looking great I travelled from london and have seen this in the flesh absolutely amazing Kind regards Bill
Great! Thanks for stopping by
Loved the foliage. Nicely done. Thanks.
Thanks!
I Often traveled up Rt 7 on the way home to Oneonta, thru Bainbridge, Otego, Unadilla, Sidney. There was an aerospace company in Sidney, had a tour of it, but can't remember the name. Was going to try to represent it in my layout. Did you ever see photos of the propane explosion just east of Oneonta in Colliersville, Feb of 1974. I have some slides. Those cars where thrown about like they were HO scale.
Did not see that! was it Bendix in Sidney?, Thanks for stopping by,
Going thru Oneonta, I thought I saw myself sitting on top of Table Rock! Wonderful scenes and inspiring as I try to make my own version of this railroad.
Daniel Hulitt thanks so much for your kind words, I love it upstate NY!
You sir are one OUTSTANDING MODELER! You capture a level of realism few can manage - well done! I as well agree with the positive comments regarding the video... When it first started I thought to myself, please not just another 1/4hr cab ride - and you did not disappoint. And not to nitpick (and I could be wrong) but wasn't that ex LIRR C420 with the smoke deflectors still in place set up to run long hood forward? ;)
thanks very much for the kind words, appreciated, As for the C420 you could be right,, I have a lot of work to do on knowing all the prototype particualrs for both Locos and rolling stock. But hey thats the good thing about this hobby, you cant get bored with some namy aspects to understand.
@@dnhman That engine looks very much like those advertised at a train store in New Jersey very near to Philadelphia. I am not sure I am allowed to mention the business' name. In their ad they list it as a Long Island RR Alco C420, but they do not have a photo, they have a drawing. That has kept me from ordering one as the drawing shows a lousy view of the truck side frames. This reply has been done on 7-7-21.
@@bobrulejr.4057 Hi Bob, your name sounds familiar, are you part of the New Jersey Division? Yes I have since learned this Also is an ex LIRR unit. The D&H bought several units. My version is from Atlas.
That is one helluva layout.
I Have To Agree w/ S Perla Well Done !!!
ken c thanks for kind words
Excellent both in modeling scenery any videography loved the Ex LIRR 420 since it pulled me to work and then home at least as far as Jamaica NY or LI City
thomasabramson100 thanks for watching and the kind words
Cab view is off center from the rails. Disorienting.
excellent work
great video but please dont go from cab camera to trackside view every five seconds. make two different videos or first half cab camera.
Ryan thanks! Maybe it was in scale time!:)
One of the better model railroad layout videos I've seen. Not quite Ken Patterson quality but clearly a 9 out of 10. No panning, no schmaltzy music, no arcane narration, no "Today I'm gonna show you..." , no talking head (really, nobody wants to see someone's ugly mug). Instead nice short scenes cutting to shots relative to the previous shot, framing taken from the perspective of a human actually standing on the ground (as opposed to hovering 50' in the air), nice transition shots from down a street or on an overpass just like a real live rail fan would take. Nicely done!
wow! Thanks for such a kind review!!. As mentioned this was our first attempt at this. We did learn a lot of what do better both in the video aspects and to clean up the modeling. We hope to post a new video shortly. I have been swapping out some lighting from Florescent to LED
skepticalmedia hey, maybe it aint Ken Patterson quality but its definitely Sebastian Bach Quality !
Awesome video! Fantastic layout!
thanks so much for kind words and watching
