soft helmet looks great, but I live in a tropical country and don't want to sweat like hell underneath it !!! You say it keep ear warm... I want to cool them down.
Hi!! Thanks for sharing!! Just a question: which of the two foils (eagle vs. sk8) has better lower wind capability and lower stall speed? I tested the sk8 950 (jibes and tacks level) on flat water (68 kg, 5.0 Strike V2, 75 L) and was struggling to come on the foil at 12-15 knots. Probably the wrong pumping technique, but I found it a really difficult foil compared to my Phantom 1280. Maybe I should have tested the 1050. cheers! Jordan
Compared to Phantom... it's less about stall speed and more about stall angle. You have to be more gentle in your angle of attack, or the foil will stall. However, the glide is much better, so you can foil through lighter air. Harder to get up... easier to stay up. If you're riding on glassy water, go for the eagle, and consider the 200 carve stab once you've got a handle on it. The sk8 is similar, and better for waves. The Eagle is better for freeride, speed and glide. The pump technique is less violent, and the amount of rear foot pressure to get up is less. As you start out on a HA foil, you will find that you go up fast and stall, then you make the movement much more subtle and it jumps out of the water well...
how do the sk8's compare to the phantom S series?
I want to know the same! 940 rips tho
Doesn't this leave a stub on the rivet shaft, equal to the length of the wire stop?
Thanks for posting! My Arrow hand rivet tool wouldn't fit in the Hobie 16 Mast Cleat, and I couldn't figure out how to install the pop rivet. Great Solution!
Sailors have to get creative!
Is the surf handle stiffer again like the new handles?
Front handle has the same stiffer plastic and much more direct feel.
Strut valve and heavier Dacron on trailing edge were not mentioned.
Dray mentions the separate bladders, trailing edge material mention was cut. It should effect longevity, but not blatant on the office inspection. We already rambled a bunch😓. More details after some riding. The reinforced section at the back of the main strut is very stiff.
Great video. How’s the canopy tension compare. Looks good
Canopy tension seems stiffer, but more info after some sessions…
Great overview lads. Thx
What do you think is the best front wing for prone surf foiling everyday waves? is it the 940 s? What fuse and tail wing as well please, Thanks
The Phantom line is a great place to start, your size and experience as well as wave type would determine size. Likely the 1480 for small-med waves for average (80kg) rider. Smaller if you're smaller or riding more powerful waves.
how much is too much air pressure?
it only takes a couple of PSI. I like to make sure that we don't seal the hull with the blower. A small/ weak shop vac produces too much pressure if you were to seal the hose to the drain plug or hatch. In the video the hose is loosely pushed against the drain plug, allowing plenty of pressure to escape. The trick is low pressure and high volume.
I am excited to get a soft helmet, the leash looks good too.
Where can we find those helmets online? Dont see anything anywhere
Expected in spring apparently, :( Leashes are very soon though.
@@MurraysSports Sounds good, thanks!
Thanks for sharing. The setting gave me even more confidence
you spend more time talking about the rag, and the paper towels, and SO LITTLE TIME talking about the lube! I didnt even get the name! maclube?
Sorry, Lube type is only partly important. Specifically used McLube One Drop. Technically it's for ball bearings, but have used it for luff tracks when I ran out of Sailkote. www.murrays.com/product/40-0410/
Most excellent interview! Wish we had the "wheel house" 8m conditions out front for the 180lb plus crew. 11 m is the go to with 20 knots plus. On the OS 12m most days, then go 10 OS, 11m..................thinking one more in the quiver. When will y'all be in Murray's area for demo rides?
This video is useless .the description "everything is perfect " ,it's the best bla bla blah. That s not what you want to hear in the description . You have alway negativ points and good points. I have a 9 m 2022 XS and 2 FS 2021 The Xs is a really good ,hard bar pressure ,powerful not good low end not for everybody . One of the only kite that can compete with the xr core and Evo duotone for big air .
Which one do you prefer most ? XS or FS.
Great video, but your audio is very clicky and is very hard to listen to.
What is the level of head protection provided by the lining? I’m interested in scootering about 25mph
You need a different kind of helmet for scootering. This is a watersports helmet.
I have 8 cats, and have done a lot of repairs, over the years. I just did the same thing you did, to my H16, but not quite the same. First, you don't need to put so much epoxy in a cup, and then, the cup should be wider. The deeper the level of epoxy, the faster it will dry. It can harden up all of a sudden, due to heat, generated by the epoxy. Just keep on putting it in the cup, a little at a time. Also, I put only one layer of cloth, tho 3 is better. It is more weight, and not needed, especially if your worried about the wear and tear, of putting on the cat track. And if you use multiple layers, you should alternated between different weaves of cloth. Lastly, you should use 60 to 80 grit paper, on the edges. Then on top of that, finer grit, to blend it in. Also, you need to paint it, since sun deteriorates epoxy. First put on undercoat primer, then the surface paint, on top of that.
Hi Sir, thanks for sharing such useful information, I have the same problem with the bottom work, and may need some advice for the details such as brand or specification of epoxy as well as the paint after fiberglass repair. also, it would be appreciated if you could recommend a video for the repairing process.
more videos please
Tom is that a Milwaukee rivet gun?
Yep, works like a charm!
what a dick head
This is a terrible harness do not buy. It literally will crush your testicles. DO NOT BUY
I've been wearing the RV Gath helmet for 18 years. A handful of times my Kite Board has hit me in the head, I've been fully protected each time and continued to ride. Knowing without this coverage, a hospital ride was next, or worse. Keeps the sun off of chrome domes and elements out of my ears. I never Kiteboard without this helmet.
Really nice setup...thx for sharing!
AWEONAO¡¡
Stupid. An axe on a concrete floor? Are you kidding me? Why deliberately wasting tools like this when it could have easily been prevented. Certainly a dislike from me!
Probably it’s a stupid question but there is any full harness with a life jacket built in (I don’t know how to say it)?
A good combination.
What size is that vest, how much do you weigh and how tall are you.??????
The vest is a large and I am 5'11" and 180lbs
@@murrays8092 interesting... I would have guesse its a medium, which I planned on ordering. And I am the same build. Is there a lot of play in the vest?
@@MrMedicAdnan In hind site that may have been a medium, I have put on about 15 lbs since the video and now I could not comfortably fit a medium. I currently have a 42" chest, 37" waist, and wear size 32 pants. The large fits close and does not have much play due to the elastic webbing on the sides. I can only pull the mid section about 2 inches away from my body when its zipped up, and that is flexing the elastic pretty hard.

this was very entertaining. thanks
2:10--Epoxy isn't a catalyzed reaction, like polyester or vinylester. In epoxy, both the resin and the hardener become part of the final product. If you don't mix epoxy correctly, it won't cure correctly. You'll end up with with un-reacted hardener or resin, and the end product will be soft.
Do not let these guys anywhere near your boat. Lol
Very please with the PRO. Used it for 505 racing: in 15+ knots in the ocean with large swell it was comfortable and the waist belt added great lumbar support. In 5-10 knots and flat water I removed the waist belt for better mobility and still had plenty of support while trapezing . The Velcro entry felt secure, with no slipping though a long day of sailing. The hook felt robust and was easy to hook/unhook. I really like the lack of straps and buckles. This is the first nappy style harness I have used and after 2 long days sailing from 5-20+ it was more comfortable than the harness I have used for the last 12 years.
did you do 3 layers? and do let it dry between layers or do you just put layers 2 and 3 on while the epoxy is still wet
thanks sharing, going to try this on my hobie16
this looks great where did you get the equipment
Really great review! Keep up the great work.
great stuff :)
Good idea to drive the motor without the battery
I think the motor has an integrated battery.
