Warspite's channel
Добавлен 29 дек 2021
Warspite is a long-time wargamer from 'back in the day' (the late 1960s to be precise) with a passion for all types of history but particularly military, naval and combat aviation history.
Warspite posts as 'Warspite' or 'Warspite 1' on several websites including The Miniatures Page (TMP), Wings of War at The Aerodrome and on the Axis and Allied 'War At Sea' site at Forumini.
He is a former professional journalist and sub-editor, now retired, and he has recently self-published Bills, Bows & Bloodshed 2.2. These are a set of table-top wargame rules covering the late medieval period.
HMS Warspite is one of his favourite warships. HMS Warspite fought at Jutland, the Second Battle of Narvik, Cape Matapan and bombarded the D-Day beaches and Walcheran. HMS Warspite once hit an enemy battleship 26,000 yards away - a naval gunnery record for WW2.

A great night out in the East Sussex town of Rye where they really know how to celebrate the Protestant martyrs of the mid-16th century and the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. They have long memories in Sussex! Wikipedia link here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sussex_Bonfire_Societies This link tells you more about the tradition that I can. Barry
Hadleigh Castle, Essex
Просмотров 254Год назад
A very personal view of one of the earliest castles I ever visited. Hadleigh Castle in Essex is an English Heritage site which overlooks Leigh On Sea and Canvey Island. The castle dates from about 1215 but there may have been an earlier Roman fort in much the same area. However so much land has been lost to erosion it is now difficult to confirm earlier use. The castle was built by a supporter ...

Thanks for showing VBCW. Glad you like it.
I try to feature VBCW whenever I see it as I find it a fascinating subject. B
@@warspiteschannel4817 Thanks.
Many thanks for this- much appreciated.
Thank you!
Fantastic! I've been looking forward to your video of the Other Partizan dropping 😊
Thank you. Not been well for a few days so I was delayed.
@warspiteschannel4817 hope that you're feeling better now.
"Borderland brigands"? I think not! Sir William ap Thomas was a younger son of Sir Thomas ap Gwyllym of Perth-hir House, and Maud Morley, daughter and co-heir of Sir John Morley of Llansantffraed. Thomas ap gwyllym was a scion of the pre-Norman royal family of Gwent, and the barons Morley were major players in the early period of the Hundred Years War. William ap Thomas married Gwladys, the daughter of Dafydd ap Llewelyn ap Hywel ("Davy Gam" of Agincourt fame) of the royal line of Brycheiniog. So they are far from such as you describe.
That Russian Civil War game is so badass. Wish I could learn more about that game
Warspite, Sir, I tried to write something when you posted this to let you know how your silence had been noticed. I very much appreciate all your how-tos, visit reports, show reviews and midl-of-lidl alerts. I have acted on these midl-of-lidl alerts several times recently (missed the drill set..)…. Very many thanks, and please keep it up. However, I was stalled in being able to say something meaningful about your return as I felt that I should say something about the loss of your son, and your continued efforts to move forwards. As a parent who hasn’t experienced such a loss, I cannot say anything to you in this regard based upon experience/understanding. I was stalled. All I can say is that your love for your son is clearly apparent, and I hope you can get yourself together now, and in future. Wargaming is a wonderful activity that is fundamentally about mates. Not ruleset, scale, period. So as a yet-to-meet-you mate….Great to have you back, chin up, chest out, and more of the same please sir! Hoggy Out!
Thank you! Sorry for late reply, I had missed this. B

I knew it was you! (I also lie) Thank you. W
Enjoyed the video, unfortunately you missed out the Indian Mutiny game, which won 'best in show'. It was an incredible game.
I agree but, as a disabled person, I can only get to so many tables at a big event. Someone will always be disappointed.
The show was the busiest yet with record attendance - 1384 through the door, plus all the Traders and Games organizers. The 600 free figures were all given away in the first 30 minutes :)
Thank you for that information. W
No probs - I’ve been coming to Partizan since about 1989 - pre Kelham hall days :)
Cheers for covering the Mentana Battle, it was Garibaldi against the Papal States supported by the French, you were actually stood next to the 5ft poster that explained it all 😁👍
Thank you! W
Well, I’ll see you all again in October!
Trust me, I am like the poor: "I am always with you". 😁
Probably the busiest Partizan I have attended. Excellent video as always. Nicely done sir!

Thank you for compiling another most interesting show report. I find your video reports useful as they are not as rushed as some. Further, you stating the scale of the games is most useful, there were several I would not have picked except for you mentioning it.
