holding my breath but did on a '98 GMC savana van today. Edit: I see some discussion of the security light remaining on after this fix is implemented. The behavior of my vehicle HAS changed, is it normal for the security light to come on while im driving randomly after the fix, but be off every time i go to start the car? This is new behavior, and since the light isnt on when im starting the vehicle, I'm inclined to believe im in a much better place than i was before with regard to this security issue, but I'd love to hear if others see this post fix as well.

I have been trying for hours with multiple tool attachments to get 3rd bolt out..still haven't..I need 3 hands and or a very slim hand...Have to have mirror..correct lighting and right tool..Going to try again today...and if I ever get it out..I'm going to add a spacer to 3rd bolt to be able to access it better if I ever need to.

2011 Chevy HHR with the same issue... Despite being from a different year, make and model, same P.O.S. connection. Replaced the alternator, same trouble. Thankfully died relatively close to home, and with a friend's help, get home, return with another fully charged battery. A thought was leaning towards that fusible link. Lately I noticed that my On-star come back online and I had free Sirius Xm. I also noticed that my GPS all of the sudden had my home address programed in it something that I never do. Even after erasing the data and double checking that the entire history was wiped out my address again showed up on my navigation, and I am beginning to be concern since during the last few months I have noticed a particular vehicle following my SUV. I checked for trackers but did not find anything so I am wondering if On-star was hacked if that is even possible. Evidently I want to disable the On-star Feature. Is this something that can be achieve by removing a fuse or do I need to disable the module ? If so is this module located being the CUE or glove box ? Do I need to open the module and disconnect anything inside or just unplug it ? What features will be lost ? It is a 2016 Cadillac Escalade Platinum. Thanks Oli

First step charge the battery load test it reinstall it in the vehicle start it check to see it is charging at 13.5 15 volts if it is not check voltage at the alternator if the voltage is good at the alternator the alternator is good. That only means one thing it’s either the wire that runs to the PCM or the charging wire which runs from the alternator to the starter solenoid that is shared by the positive battery terminal. The wire he is pointing out is the charging wire that runs from the alternator to the starter solenoid if this wire is corroded broken it will not charge and the vehicle will not be able to regulate voltage once the battery is dead it will give you all kinds of symptoms ranging from a bad fuel pump to a major electrical issue.
