A look at one of the Earlier Roberts Range of WiFi radios. This is a decent quality unit and is linked to the Frontier Nuvola portal which atill operates. This radio has the added advantage of receiving FM and DAB as well as Wifi stations.

Making Remote IQ recordings with SDR Console
I've used a Stream 93i, which is basically the same as this but a newer model, for many years as a bedside radio. Thanks for recommending the Undok app, which I'll try out.
Happy new Year Kevin and thanks for the mention 😂 Love your videos and looking forward to the 2025 season 😊
Happy new year!
I enjoy internet radio, an incredible variety of stations out there, it's enjoyable when finding one you like then having a google to find out more about the station. I have 2 Bush wi-1810's that I got for £20 when Argos were discontinuing them. Cheers
Yes internet radios can be fun and there are some second hand bargains out there. The difficulty is that there are some wifi radios around that won't work today due to the original portals/servers closig e.g the RECIVA based rados.
Very true, the Bush ones I have seem ok, touch wood. I even found BBC Afrique/WorldService on it despite most beeb stations being blocked.
Thanks for the videos Kevin, all the best.
Happy New Year to you!
Happy new year Kevin
All the best for 2025 to you.
Why you did not show the tuning on the DX-286 as you did on ATS pls? 😉
Hi what radio are you using good clear sound
TeF 6686
Thanks I think I need one 😁
Nice one. I've struggled to catch Delta the past few broadcasts, I think the Scottish rain has repelled the short waves from Netherlands 😀
Receiver in FM radio stereo mode, output dual channels on output to hp ?
The best one makes one for himself 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks Kevin🎉
Wonderful!!!!! Thanks for the posting!!! from Upstate NY USA
Hello Does it do fm on the 11m band and cb band thanks
no
Cheers mate how do you get a kiwi sdr password to listen mate , I have a ats25 max decoder so no point getting ats20+ with no 11m band thanks
@garyhull7037 most Kiwis don't require a password
This is France Bleu Normandie, the transmitter is located near Caen, just North of Le Plessis-Grimoult.
what battery are you using ?
20 ah lifepo 4 battery
@@KevinOReillyswl how much time did you get ? ive got a MKIIG i want to do some pota with
@@bobbyt3451 it depends on so many things. What mode will you use? How much power.? What is your TX/RX ratio? I would guess maybe 3 hours or more running 50 Watts of SSB
I'm a MW band DXer and usually use my RSP DX to record the spectrum from 9pm - 6am and review mostly on weekends... Too bad the Kiwi does not support IQ recording of the spectrum, maybe a firmware update can enable that feature, if not, it should be added in Kiwi V3.
I search on the web and I've find VRT MNM on 101.5 FM from Belgium
How can you go from private call to group call can you program it via hand
Programming these radios for DMR without a PC will be extremely challenging. I may be look at doing a Video on keyboard Programming but as for any DMR radio Programming using a computer is far easier.
Thank you
hello ! Can the DM-5R use to keep watch on marine VHF channel 16 ? if so, how to set it up ?
Use the Programming software and program the channel in as you would for any other frequency
Many thanks
Good stuff. Your icom(?) is pulling this station in better than my xhdata 808 today lol. Also picked up a station east of the Philippines.
Great radio
Dear Kelly! Please explain how to spread the band of RTL SDR to the full range. In initial installation I have a choice between only 2m and 70cm bands, as the device allows to operate in a range up to 1700 MHz. Thank you!
Kelly?
are you still using this radio ?
Yes
@KevinOReillyswl I found one of these and plan on doing pota with it have you had any heat issues with it ? I've seen these have issues
@bobbyt3451 what sort of issues? The 706 is a pretty solid radio
@@KevinOReillyswl ok thanks I've just seen problems with over heated radios and burnt traces etc due to rubber pads glue corroding the traces
@bobbyt3451 no problem with mine so far
Good job!!! Thanks for this and Merry Christmas!!! from Upstate NY USA
Happy holidays!
Nice catch. I have never been able to pick up Laser. Yesterday on 9300 there was a station I caught, a mix of English & Dutch presenters, playing old clips of pirate radio, never caught it before & it wasn't showing on Shortwave-info either. Thanks, all the best Kevin 👍
The station on 9300 was Dutch pirate Free Radio Service Holland.
A very nice example Kevin, I love those proper analogue meters.
Me too!
Devil's Advocate: Cheap isn't bad, so long as you know what you're getting. I would DEFINITELY recommend a SDR $160 receiver to a noob. Why?... 1. Because it's essentially renting a much higher value unit at a lower cost point and learning about the hobby before you make the huge financial investment. 2. A good antenna fixes the vast majority of radio issues, and learning how to tweak reception for YOUR ear fixes the rest.
I can see the direction your coming from regarding the Chinese radios, the only part i give credit to is recardo, his work in programming these arduino chips is amazing, infact brilliant, the problem is in the hardware design, i said that about 3 years ago after inspection of a friends ats 20.. they do work maybe not the best quality on the reception side of things, and for obvious reasons, they are a novelty thats all, you pay your money you take your chance! I collected a few of these over the past couple of years for almost next to nothing, why! I use the cases and some of the parts for CW QRP LOW POWER TRANSCEIVERS ! Doesn't take much re- work if you know how to do it.. 73s
any sources of upgrade bin files?
@@rafakarpinski4777 not that I am aware of.
I don't own one of these, but from what I understand there is a backup switch on the back of the radio marked "BU" if not switched ON, you get the initial 0.000.0 frequency display.
I think you are correct but the backup batterry is long dead in this one!
@@KevinOReillyswl Does it have a backup battery? Does it keen memories when powered from mains?

Obrigado segui o video e atualizei o meu ATS20+ com sucesso.
All I can here are the the LED street lights..nice rig.
I wanted one of these really badly when they first came out but could not afford it. I eventually acquired an FT-980 which is quite similar. My brother has it now and it's still going strong.
Nice. Each of these old rigs have their own je ne sais quoi.
Where are they at?
Good question, I would guess somewhere in the UK
I thought this radio had a green light, was the LED changed?
Yes backlight wasn't working when I bought it
Thanks.
Had that in the car a few times in Lancaster

Hi, do you know why when I go back from gd77 to normal baofeng firmware, the morning monitor squelching stays on without being able to stop it? on gd77 it works normally
I haven't much knowledge on the standard Baofeng firmware on this Radio. I can't get on with it at all.
Made in May 1983, judging by the serial number.
W.M.R.
Well received. The transmitter only gives out 200W.
The HF150 is a good receiver on MW
@@KevinOReillyswl just trued my axdata can just get it here with a loop
Thats a good catch with a loop. Of course some nights MW conditions are better than others@tillyupnorth
@@KevinOReillyswl I live around 100km from the transmitter and have never been able to hear it. I can only see a very faint signal on my SDRplay. I have also noticed that I receive transmitters from the UK way better than they do in their own country. Isn't MW supposed to be a ground wave ?
There is skywave on.MW after dark @migsvensurfing6310
Nice!
This is Radio Romania Antena Satelor because they play romanian folk music
Thanks for this interesting video on the IC-R70. Wow ! that ATV bit at the end, sent me back a bit in time. I had forgotten all about it, until I saw it at the end of the video. Great stuff from those fantastic years of good old analogue TV! ATV .......WOW!
Is it a made in china?
Of course
@KevinOReillyswl make a video opening it up and finding the issues causing the rf emissions. Is there a pattern or is in random?
All the reasons that are giving are irrelevant, they are amateur radio projectors and the one who buys them knows that they are, if he wanted one, at a higher price and of quality, he bought it and that's it.
They are not projectors! In any case I think you are mistaken. Many newcomers buy these radios and end up disappointed.
NO SSB??? what a shame, its priced same as the ATS 20 here in sweden .
Yes no SSB so the ATS 20+ is the better buy if you want to listen to Hams.
