If you live or can visit Chatterley Whitfield heritage centre in Stoke on Trent , there are a couple of retired miners who took part in the strikes and travelled around the country on picket lines , Thursday and Saturday mornings we are there , you would be made welcome for a brew and a natter .

I'm writing a crime thriller that is partly set in 1985, right at the end of the strike.

I do wish they would stop planting those nasty pine trees. They are non deciduous, they provide nothing for nature, they do nothing accept kill the soil and drain the forest of water! They rot, they blow over and these forests are devoid of all other life! Almost no mushrooms, no flowers, no ferns, no other trees, no birds.....why?
