Best way I've found to look at this series is as the second Route of a Visual Novel, with the comic being the first Route. People acting like Takes Off "fixes" every issue from the comic out of their minds and need to get their heads out of their asses, because it doesn't; the problem across both stories that most sticks out is that it fails to properly develop BOTH main characters, Scott and Ramona. In the comic, it doesn't give as much focus to Ramona as it needed. In the anime, it's inverted and Scott doesn't get developed enough. But you look at the two as two parts of a whole, perhaps even STILL an incomplete part that hasn't had its third Route told yet, and you get a fuller experience.

while i would've absolutely loved a retelling of the comics/movie, i'm glad they took a different direction with it! seeing different parts of every previous scott pilgrim media get incorporated is awesome and i still enjoyed this story.
