Hebrews 1:1 1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. Invitation! Spoiler Alert! The meaning of God's voice is the Lord Jesus Messiah from Nazareth. Yeshua Ha Mashiach. He is the Messenger with a Capital M. He is also the Message. Mark 1:1 begins: 1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The Good News is a Person. And that Person is God the Son. Disclaimer! This sermon is not about prophecy. It is about the meaning of God's voice. And the meaning of God's voice or the essence of God's voice or the Why of God's voice... is Jesus.I will try and touch on where prophecy fits in a bit later. - Christ is all ( but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things...) - Christ the Word of God - Deu 18:15-19 - 15 “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers-it is to him you shall listen- - 16 just as you desired of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’ - 17 And the LORD said to me, ‘They are right in what they have spoken. - 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. - 19 And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him. - Joh 1:1 Builds upon this prophecy: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - Hebrews 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. - Joh 1:2-3 - 2 He was in the beginning with God. - 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. - Col 3:11: Christ is all, and in all. - Christ the Life-giving Spirit - Hebrews 1:1 - 1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke... - The voice of God is not like our voice. Although there are similarities, there are differences too. The word, voice is used by God to describe the way he communicates and blesses and creates. Words and language was invented by God as a way to communicate to us on our level. But he is WAY above our level and beyond our comprehension. This is true of his voice. It is beyond our comprehension. God uses his voice to impart life. God imparts his life to us in a way that is similar to when we speak. God the Father does not have lungs and a mouth and a larynx to form words. He uses words to communicate to us. But his voice proceeds from him and continues in him. His voice does not disappear into the air like ours. It is alive in him and as Isiaaih says, does not return to him empty but having accomplished that purpose for which he sent it out. Isaiah 55:11. - The voice of God is Spirit. Then how can Christ be the voice of God. Because GOD IS ONE! - 1Co 15:45 - 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. - Therefore when God speaks, it is Christ's very life that proceeds from him to us. - What is the voice of God like? It is like Christ: What is Christ like? We shall spend eternity discovering this but one thing that comes out of Hebrews 1 is LAVISH and ABUNDANT - His love is his essence and Ephesians describes it as unsearchably wide and long and high and deep! The voice of God is ABUNDANT and LAVISH 1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke... His voice is like him. - What is the voice of God like? It is like God the Father! - Joh 14:2 - 2 In my Father's house are many rooms... - Christ is more - Christ the substance - Col 2:16-17 - 16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. - 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. - Christ the riches - Php 4:12-13, 19 - 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. - 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. - 19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. - Christ is hero - Christ is King of the brothers. - There can be only one! Sorry for you, its Jesus! I say this to the disappointment of those who aspire to be Christian celebrity's. Yes you may get some glory and esteem from people on earth. But when you get to heaven...Christ will have all the glory. No person will be able to boast of a single thing that they accomplished. Not one. Not ever. - Greyhound. - Pro_22:4 The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life. - Pro_29:25 The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe. - Christ is the Giver of gifts - 1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets... - Prophecy is a spiritual gift given for the building up of the church. Prophecy is God speaking through mankind to mankind. - John Piper pleads with fellow pastors to abandon the secularization of the pastorate and pursue the prophetic call of the Bible for radical ministry. We pastors are being killed by the professionalizing of the pastoral ministry. The mentality of the professional is not the mentality of the prophet. It is not the mentality of the slave of Christ. Professionalism has nothing to do with the essence and the heart of the Christian ministry. The more professional we long to be, the more spiritual death we will leave in our wake. For there is no professional childlikeness, there is no professional tenderheartedness, there is no professional panting after God. Brothers, we are not professionals. We are outcasts. We are aliens and exiles in the world. Our citizenship is in Heaven, and we wait with eager expectation for the Lord (Phil. 3:20). You cannot professionalize the love for His appearing without killing it. And it is being killed. The world sets the agenda of the professional man; God sets the agenda of the spiritual man. Through his voice, God created us his temple, his body. And Christ is the Head of that body. The head communicating to the body and the body communicating to the head. Perfectly one. Perfectly in sync. The head feeding and nurturing and loving the body and the body serving the head. God wants to dwell with his people in eternal conversation! He wants the Garden of Eden again where we walk and talk with him in the beginning of the day, receiving his life through his voice and bringing our worship and love to him! - 1Co 13:8-10 - 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. - 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, - 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. - 11 - 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. - Christ the end - Joh 11:23-25 - 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” - 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” - 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life."

Galatians 3:8 "Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[d] 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith."
