Thank you
Clinical setting is always a must!
Thank you so much. Interesting cases. I just joined DPA. I was practising histopathology in Khartoum/Sudan for over 30 years and relate to the change in classifications and naming of tumors with the availability of immunohistochemistry and genetic techniques.
Thank you for the cases

What’s usually the current treatment for GAS?
Cervical cancers are generally treated with surgery and radiation; widely spread tumors may be managed with chemotherapies. Tumor vaccines and other targeted therapies are under study.
Mom got this removed 2 weeks ago 😢 and now are recommending chemotherapy because cancer was detected around the area where the yolk sac tumor was 😞…. If by chance would I be able to take your opinion on this matter ?
Sorry to hear about your mother. This is an uncommon tumor generally, and especially in older women. I do accept consults, whether informal or otherwise, but my expertise is focused around the diagnosis (from tissue or cytology) rather than around treatment decisions. You can email me at lewis-hassell@ouhsc.edu.
Highly educational, thank you.

If you want to actually see the living worm writhering in the mucosa of the bowl go watch indian videos. Indian videos do hide the identity of the devil from you like the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION DOES SO.

i have GAVE. just diagnosed. i'm 47 with liver disease. it's so rare it took 11yrs of vomiting blood to find it.
Glad that they were finally able to identify your problem. Hope the treatment and management will help your symptoms!
Thank you so much for the lecture! In regard to pleomorphic lipossarcoma, what initial imuno panel (if any) would you perform in order to exclude other differential diagnosis?

So, secretory hyperplasia translates to secretory endometrium or to endometrial hyperplasia without atypia? I think this could potentially lead to confusion.

What is your treating plan for this kind of cancer?
Thanks very much Please proff can you make a video about crohn disease in a small ileal bioosy
Yes, I am working on collecting the cases for this topic. Thanks for the suggestion
Thanks
thank you sir for your dedication. your videos are pure gold
So nice of you
Hello doc I was diagnosed with signet ring cell carcinoma esophageal mild to moderate How serious is this cancer and what are advance treatments available please tell i am from india
Signet ring cells occur in cancers at several sites, including the esophagus. Generally these tumors are not a favorable diagnosis, but there are several variables, the most important of which are the stage (depth of invasion, any nodal spread, distant metastasis, etc.) and the precise molecular profile. There are several different groups of molecular changes that can be seen with this morphologic subtype of tumor. In our institution, tumors that are still T1a will be treated with endoscopic resection, but any tumor that is stage T1b to T3 will get some type of adjuvant treatment (drugs plus radiation) followed by consideration of a resection procedure. Tumors that are T4 may get targeted treatment depending on whether they express Her2, or standard chemotherapy. I hope that is helpful, and wish you a favorable outcome with this challenging disease.
MICROSCOPIC APPEARANCE: Sections revealed fragments of squamous and columnar lined mucosa. One of the fragment in the stroma beneath shows discrete atypical cells some are of signet ring cell type having vacuolated cytoplasm vesicular nuclei and mild to moderate nuclear atypia. Associated inflammatory cell infiltrates present. Remaining fragments shows normal mucosal lining with inflammatory changes. No extracellular mucin present. No intestinal metaplasia is seen.
Can stress cause cancer???
Interesting question-- stress does impact many body systems, including the immune system, which plays a role in tumor detection and suppression. So probably yes-- but the timing of the stress, the type, etc. and the eventual appearance of a tumor may be quite difficult to connect since the time from earliest appearance of an abnormal cell to the appearance of a clinically detectable tumor is often many years.
My father has stage 4 lymphoma in his bone marrow. He said he could live another 10 years. He said he could die of something else entirely. I’m not buying it.
It depends a lot on what "flavor" of lymphoma he has. Some are rapidly growing, aggressive and hard to treat. Others are slower, indolent (and also hard to treat.)
@@LewisHassell-OPEN he says it’s terminal, in that there is no cure, but it’s non aggressive. His white blood cells were 11.8 and there was cloning going on. That’s what triggered the testing. The doctor told him to try to stay calm and not get upset because stress could increase WBC. They aren’t doing chemotherapy because you can’t do it on bone, he said. They didn’t see much in the cat scan. I’m just going to appreciate the time I have left with him and hope for the best. He’s very active for a 70 year old.
First from the Philippines!
Welcome!

Thank you 😊
Thanks a lot, it was helpful 🙏
For cancer patient who has bilateral serous borderline tumor, microscopic tumor deposits in omentum and peritoneal fluid has atypical cells, does chemo be helpful or hormonal therapy? As the tumors are er and pgr positive
Borderline tumors do not respond to conventional chemotherapy, so the side-effects outweigh any potential benefit. I'm not sure about hormonal therapy; it isn't used commonly in our institution, but might have value. check with your gynecologic-oncologist
I've been diagnosed with the rare congenital GH in the duodenum, esophagus, and colon. My symptoms are difficult to deal with daily 💔 What can I do to avoid flare ups of the symptoms?
Sorry to learn of your distress. I am not the right person to ask about symptoms that flare up, but I would imagine you must have a gastrointestinal doctor who could help you manage those.
Dear Sir. What subtype is this neoplasm. Is it pancreaticobiliary or intestinal type of IPMN. I always have difficulty with this sutyping. Any morphologic clues would be very useful.
There are too much content in this lecture, thanks a lot Prof Hassell .
