Hi Everyone, my name is Alec and I live in the Highlands of Scotland, I am a very keen motorbike riding fan, I have had a bike of some kind all my life from a field bike as a boy, Triumph 250 2 stroke scooter was the best lol. I have in the past competed locally in Motorbike Trials and had a Yamaha, Fantic and Italet. I dabbled in Classic Bikes with an H1 Kawasaki 500 triple, which is with a collector now and then had a GT750L Kettle, which is still being loved and used daily by a friend. Recently I have drifted from road riding on a couple of beautiful Suzuki GSX1400's back to more off road Adventure Biking, Had a CRF 250L for 5 years and now in my second year on a 2020 CB500X, which I love. This channel is dedicated to Adventure Bike riding in the Highlands of Scotland.

Meig Dam up Strath Conon
@@highlandadv8199 cheers
Recently got one 4 months ago, exactly the same colour 2002 k2. Beautiful machine, its definatly a keeper, they are one impressive bike, clocking up some miles round Devon. Love your video, ride safe.👍
Great video, good to meet up today. Thanks for the heads up on the campsite, know where it is now, will deffo get there at some point. Not sure if I will be able to get a spot as close to the toilets as you boys managed !! Cheers

@@highlandadv8199 Hi Alec, yep I would be up for a ride out. I may know a few places you maybe not aware of😀I'll ping my mob onto you . Cheers
@@johnross3265 Hi John, we will be going out on Sunday 1015 Tesco Filling Station Inshes, if you can make it?
Cracking great roads never knew they existed
You can put studs in your tyres..if their is a risk of sheet ice like your were riding and their was sheet ice and black ice, then legally you CAN ride with studs on your tyres, alot of bikers think you can't, yes you can ride with studded tyres on a motorcycle in the UK and in the road if temperatures are low and their is risk if ice on road and snow... As riding with black ice is risk to yourself and other driver and public, so yes you can ride with putting studs on your tyres in the UK legally as black ice and motorcycle don't mix well... Black ice studs on tyres mix very well... 100 studs can be bought for 8 to 12 pounds ish... Hope this helps
What colour is that??
@@JGR37 it's Pearl Deep Blue, best colour.
Great weekend Alec
👌👌👌👍
Another great video, never been to that bridge. Often up in Grantown from my Perthshire home. I’ll definitely take a run up there next time. Lots of great wee roads around Scotland, more enjoyable, especially if there’s little traffic. Well done 👏👏
It was great to see my old stomping grounds again, I was born and brought up in Forres but worked for a while in both Nairn and Inverness. I've had many a spirited ride/drive along those roads although they were much quieter forty years ago. The part of the road where the Nimrod is parked is where the Nimrods used to take off and land, flying very low over the road. My friends father was a Flight Lieutenant, I did a project for school on both the Shackleton and the Nimrod and got taken for flights on both. Oh, Happy days 😊 Oh lovely bike by the way I test rode one last year, sadly it was missing on one cylinder due to a duff plug. The dealer offered me another go once they'd fitted a new one but I'd lost trust by then.
Fabulous road surfaces. Compared to our sh*t holes here in england !
Just collect mine today and can’t wait to take it for its ride out. Sunshine forecast for tomorrow 😊.
The Dim and Shetland can be quite an adventure. The good lady & I attended The Dim. Just once for the chance to say we had done it. We ended up with 20 year badges.
Beautiful Bike......👍

Great video mate. Subbed.
Fantastic mate never seen such excellent vid showing the elevation of those roads
Thanks John, duller day helps to show the elevations, was pleased with the look back down the Corkscrew with the campervan struggling up the hill. 👍
i miss going out with all of you guys, but I don't miss this damed weather
Week after next weather getting better, get you out with us 🤞
Grate gravel roads and video..💯💯💯sub....👌👌
Thank you, means alot coming from a fellow Videographer !!!👍
Drive safe my friend,we will keep in touch!!!!
Your going at a good pace . If you don’t mind sharing . What do you have for tires . Btw .Nice work on the Drone footage
Thanks, they are Continental TKC 70's front and back😀
Really enjoyed the trip over the Struie, brought back memories of commuting to college in Inverness from Brora in the 70’s, before the firth bridges, on a DT 175 in the winter. The road looks in a bit better condition now that it did then. Looking forward to the next trip. What is your front facing camera mounted on ? Cheers Derek
Hello Highland ADV, I recognised the road down to New Bridge on your thumbnail instantly, I live in Ardross. Like you I recommend avoiding the A9 between Alness and Dornoch, the Struie Road is much more fun and as you said there are plenty of great roads you can ride to get back to the NC500. Cheers, 5dT
Cracking
Is this wind deflector any good?
Yes really good, still got my screen on low setting
Excelente video 👌💯
Great vid mate
Another great watch Alec, although with more pangs of homesickness - this was my short coach excursion from Strathpeffer - with a very similar commentary! 😊 Keep 'em coming and stay safe (from road-ragers!) 👍
This is too funny! I'm Scottish, living in Australia. I have owned a CB500x for a few months now, my first bike. I was looking for random CB500x videos and what are the odds I find one made by a fellow Scotsman! 😂
Ha ha, so glad you made the right choice, they are great bikes, for new and experienced riders.👍
@@highlandadv8199 I'm 52, been wanting to ride for decades but you know, life, kids etc. Looking forward to watching more of your rides!
Suscriptor más para el canal. Saludos ✌️
Nice scenic ride again Alec. I travelled that road a few times on my old Tiger, whilst my coach was parked up for a couple of days at Gairloch. Happy days back then - good to see my old haunts thanks. Martin. 👍
Thanks Martin, glad your enjoying the channel, we are spoilt for choice, it's a great location to have an adventure bike.
It certainly is a great place to operate from up there, and I miss it very much. Royal Deeside for me next month, which was another of my coaching patches. Cheers anyway. 👍
Hi Alec, still playing catch-up here and this one really does make me homesick! Believe it or not, the Applecross/Bealach na Ba trip was a regular coach excursion from my base at The Gairloch Hotel, until 2016, when the hotel was sold, and which coincided with the upsurge of traffic on the NC 500. We just couldn't do it these days obviously - the roads are just sooo much busier. Great video thanks. (Incidentally, I don't know if you've ever been over to Raasay, but it's worth the trip to see Calum's Road.) 😎
Nice Cafe 👌👌✔️✔️
Great video guys, fantastic road to ride, been on it many times. Using your drone let’s us all see just how good the scenery is through the roadside trees. Where did you go for coffee 🤔. Well done again 👏👏
Corner on the Square Cafe
actually, they closed the bridge so those nice people with their canoes could cross the road without all those motorbikes cutting their long boats in two, , there must have been hundreds of long boats there
Ha ha 😂
Great drone shots there - Bruce (Chizz)
Good meeting you in Beauly this morning - subscribed so will catch up onyour videos - Bruce
Yes good to get a chat about bikes and your tours, thanks for subscription 👍
Beautiful ride there Alec, I was last out there 12 years ago on my 955i Tiger, on my days off from work with the coach at Gairloch. Out combining exploring on the bike with topping as many peaks as I could during my time up there. The campsite at Cannich is by far my favourite. Cheers for this one. 👍
A marvellous start to your channel Alec! I've worked back to start from the beginning, so it's going to be interesting to see it develop. You're in a wonderful neck of the woods up there, with so much juicy material on your doorstep. Most of my 20years up there was driving a tour-coach, so I missed out on some of the best roads. Great to watch, cheers. 👍
Thanks Martin, we are spoiled for choice indeed.👍
Hi Alec, just come across your channel, covering an area and places that I have a great deal of affection for. I don't get up there on my Himalayan anywhere near as much as I'd like. Thanks for sharing and stay safe. 👍
brave men, if i ever get my mojo going ill stick to warm days Alec, that will be 4 days 3 week of August more than likely Lol
I Brian, It was very cold up top, hands were near off me lol
Havent been up that way for ages looks like they took some trees down the views are fantastic
Lovely films 🎥. Well done. I love my own CB500X! Brilliant travels. George
How on earth did you manage that without hoards of pushbikes or camper vans every 1/4 mile? The last part of the video, know I have always been so pleased to see new tarmac on the roads.
It's mid winter so thankfully the campervans are free and far between lol
I've had a wk based near Spean bridge for the last 4 year's.Still not scratched the surface of some of them back rd's in your vids. Will try 9 day's this yr!!😀.
