A Summer of Research
From researching solar panels to studying human emotions, students in the Letters & Science Summer of Excellence in Research (LASER) program are pursuing groundbreaking discoveries. After eight weeks in the field and the lab, these L&S students shared their findings at the 2024 LASER Symposium.

Celebrating 100 Years of Limnology

UW-Madison is considered the “birthplace of limnology,” and this year we celebrated a major milestone. Trout Lake Station and the Center for Limnology commemorated 100 years by bringing together generations of Trout Lakers for a wet weekend. I remember visiting my older cousin, Dr. Jay Nelson, both at the Trout Lake station and the UW Center for Limnology in the mid-1980's. Good times!
Never went to Trout Lake , but dissected hundreds of Crayfish from there in 1974-75 as work study study student in Madison. I've been monitoring water quality on Watson Pond in Maine for the last 36 years. Thanks, UW Limnology for inspiring me.

Hello professor. Currently listening to your audiobook on the Chinese Zodiac. I am surprised that there is no mention of any relationship to the 12/60 year Jupiter cycle. Was there no introduction of that system to China before the 3rd century BCE? Also, would love a history of the hsieu (sp?), the 24 lunar mansions. Thank you for your enriching book!
