Murchison Gap and the views over King Parrot Creek (the Valley of Ten Thousand Hills) north of Melbourne. A delightful and little known valley route that is a delightful ride to do on a bicycle and has the added bonus of this outstanding lookout.
Noojee Delights

Taking in some of the sights of Noojee, a little-known township in the hills & forest east of Melbourne. There is a trestle-bridge, a short section of rail-trail to it, and the old station site with an old steam train sitting there. Several really nice wooded valleys lead into the hills with one having a scenic loop walking trail to two waterfalls. The town itself has a local hotel, a cafe and ...
Bass to Inverloch Loop

Our weekend tour of the Bass Coast Trail to Wonthaggi, followed by the Bunerong Coast route to Inverloch. With a NW wind and 35C on the Saturday, it was warm riding. We had a cooler start to Sunday and then a downpour and cold conditions set in at 11.30am. We enjoyed the Kongwak Market for lunch then rode on across the Kilcunda Ridge of West Gippsland to return to Bass. The added complexity of ...

Our September tour of the Central West Cycle Trail in NSW. Commencing from Gulgong we spend five days following the trail to Dunedoo, Mendooran, the Goonoo Forest National Park, Balimore, Geurie, Wellington, Goolma and back to Gulgong. We had excellent weather for the entire trip, with only a couple of frosty mornings to demand some warmer clothing for a short time. The roads were all exception...
At Bushrangers Bay

Aerial views over Bushrangers Bay on the Mornington Peninsula on a gorgeous sunny morning. We get views of the cliffs leading out to Cape Schank, the lighthouse and Pulpit Rock, and the mouth of Main Creek. We also see sand-dunes, the Bushrangers Bay Arch, rock-pools and cliffy headlands towards Flinders. This is a great little-visited corner of the Peninsula.

Mt Eliza Coast
Просмотров 1073 месяца назад
After a week of high wind storms and rain, a delightful calm day gave a chance to scope out the views of the Mount Eliza coast, with its secluded cliff-bound beaches and coves. The cliffs glow red in the afternoon sun and rock outcrops merge with narrow shelving beaches, probably made a bit narrower by the westerly gales we have had.
Balnarring Beach (Tulum) on a sunny Winter day

Overhead views of different scenes on Balnarring Beach in Westernport, Victoria. This is a hidden gem of a beach, often busy on a Summer weekend but today it is quiet, on a sunny August day. The bluff of Palmers Hill, and the Merricks Creek running through ti-tree woodlands behind the long dunes stretching towards Somers in the east are special attractions of this location. Offshore are the Mid...
Murchison & Heathcote King's Birthday Weekend 2023

Some scenes from our club tour to the Goulburn Valley and the Box-Ironbark forests of north central Victoria, last year. The weather was cool but fine and we had two delightful nights camping. We rode along many scenic and very low-traffic backroads as well as part of a rail-trail. The area had a very heavy rain event just a few days earlier but we timed our visit very well. The frogs, birds an...

Our Easter tour with Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club to the Otway Ranges and the Great Ocean Road in April 2024. We departed Colac and rode via Gellibrand, Beech Forest and Apollo Bay to Bimbi Park at Cape Otway. Then we rode on through Johanna Beach to Princetown and on to Port Campbell. Wonderful weather with a series of great bush tracks in very quiet settings mainly.

That was great ! I would’ve liked to have seen people bikes and setups. Happy trails.
The Magpies here in Albury tend to love giving you a peck on the left ear. They are still swooping mid November......I think they have mental issues 😂
G’day Peter, great video. Did you have the map loaded on Strava, Garmin Edge???
I have the route marked up on our club's RidewithGPS page, but the full route, with extra loops, and GPS files can be found here: centralwestcycletrail.com.au/maps/
@@petesig93 Cheers, thanks for your reply.
Fantastic boys and girls! Thoroughly enjoyed watching your ride. Inspiring. I'm sitting here thinking "how can I bring my misses along - she doesn't ride. Some questions - clearly you did this in September, hence the magpie swooping frenzy. I love the broad brimmed hat attached to the helmet - must tell us how you did that! Did you stay at Cow and Calf hotel in Wellington? Nothing better than cycling for a full immersion tour of an area.
The broad-brim is Dabrim, a commercially available brim for bicycle helmets and horse riding helmets. My wife has always been an active cyclist, since before we met. We stayed at the Federal Hotel in Wentworth. A classic old country pub with big verandahs. It was good, if a bit noisy with traffic. Cow & Calf was undergoing renovations if I recall.
@@petesig93 Thanks for the reply! Very useful info - greatly appreciated.
Nice video👌. A good record of the CWCT.
a real degustation
Hi Peter. What time of year did you do this trip?
@@TellyHinton from.Christmas Day until mid February. This section was in early February.
@ thanks for that. My partner and I are planning on heading over to Aotearoa in January and cycling from Queenstown south to Invercargill then over to Dunedin and up to Christchurch and beyond. Your videos are great for insights into road conditions.
@@TellyHinton great. The ferry across to Walter Peak to camp, then ride the 'Round the Mountains Trail'is great to do. Some steep climbs and rough gravel road, but the traffic is VERY low. We loved riding the Catlins Coast Scenic Route, but traffic may be bit heavier in January. In February it was very quiet.
@@petesig93 By the way. When I saw your first video I thought "who's this old codger out on his first bike tour and what would he know?". Then I looked at your channel and saw the name Peter Signorini which I think I first saw in a Freewheeling magazine back in the 1970s/80s. Well, maybe he does have an idea what he's doing. Peter McCallum (formerly of BINSW and BIQ) now living in Mackay Qld.
Nice video Peter. If I remember rightly it's a fair hike to get to the beach, but well worth it, as you have clearly demonstrated. 🦘😎👍
@@VictorianAerialVision a 45 minute hike along a narrow track, with steep steps down at the end (fair climb out coming back). If you hike in or out in the early morning or at dusk you will get to see quite a few kangaroos feeding along the track.
🤍💙💜⛸️👏💐
I'm disheartened that the waters of Western Port don't go as far as Pakenham after the draining of Koo Wee Rump Swamp. One day will get see it restored through technological advancement
Nice video Peter, maybe less spinning around though might be better. Loved that epic music. 🦘😎👍
Glad you survived the apple tree. What's the Gt Ocean Rd like along the coast like, looks scenic but lots of traffic, barriers and narrow road? Looking at cycling that area next year.
This was Easter so one of the busiest times with great weather. Summer traffic can be hectic, but mainly on weekends. Ride it mid-week and you will love it. Traffic is generally tourists traveling at 60-70kmh, not in a mad rush. The barriers were only from shorter term bridge-works; this will end. If you ride it in summer (Nov-April) it is definitely best ridden from east to west. People who have never ridden it will carry on about the westerlies, but along the coast in these months the most common winds are south-easterlies.
@@randelscyclevlogperthwa7342 oh that really narrow barrier on the Beechy Trail? Yes, those are a royal PITA, but you will always get through, even with a loaded touring bike. Only one or two we faced.
That's much more impressive than when I was there. Guess I need to re-visit! Thanks for sharing Peter. 🦘😎👍
This looks like an intersting spot, I might have to visit. Thanks for sharing Peter. 🦘😎👍
I almost lost a drone here, had bad battery & suddenly it went from 40% to 5% & drone did an auto land in a farm near that large water tank. 🦘😎👍
Nice video, thanks for sharing mate. 🦘😎👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Been in the area many times. Some of the best magic you can find on two wheels. Got a route for us?
Yes. ridewithgps.com/routes/26812249
A very nice ride. I'm in the Cycle touring club of WA so interested about your experience youtubing club rides. What editing app and music library do you use?
I was using Adobe Premiere Rush at first but after switching to the Mac M1 Mini I have been using iMovie which comes with it. I do need to get a better range of titles but have subscribed to Epidemic Sound for copyright-free music. I also need to investigate using Davinci Resolve, but it has proven more complex than iMovie.
Love this thank you, we have ridden from Bairnsdale to Bumberrah - going to tackle from there onwards on Thursday- was a bit worried about the descents but this gives me hope! Haha
Did you encounter swooping magpies?
Only one I think, on the stretch near 9:11. Too windy for them.
Lovely video. You live in Central Vic, I live in the Goulburn Valley and we are both lead to believe we live in a Temperate Climate...but a trip to the Daintree soon makes one realize we live in a Desert does it not!?
Ugh-! Lousy roads!! Wouldn't go on them in my car, let alone touring bikes! Great video though proves Kanga Isle isn't always blue sky, gentle breezes and ripped 'roos!!
The roads were actually in very good condition and great to ride. Limestone-topped hard cap, fast rolling. Much improved from what they were in 2009. We have often had blue skies in September, but also rain and most often strong winds as well.
Great Vic is going that way Saturday 25th Nov .Orbost to Wanthaggi..Thanks for sharing....😊.I thought the music for the first trestle bridge was most appropriate....
roads should be wider
im just listening balucha water is contaminated its true??
Not at all 🤔
What bikes are you riding . Always interesting to see the machines . Thanks for mvidios . 12th October 2023
My wife has a Giant Sedona '93 MTB frame, converted for touring. Mine is a Thorn Nomad Mk2 expedition touring bike. Both are running Rohloff 14-speed gear-hubs.
hope no cows hit u
We saw no cattle at all on this stretch. It was the earlier section (3 days prior) through Glen Gordon Station that had wandering cattle, but they always just ran away.

That looks like a great short cut ... with the right bike. Cheers and thanks for sharing ;<)
The video. does not show just how steep it was. But it would be good (still hard) with any lighter weight bike #gravelbike #bikepacking
At 6.40 the plant is the Orange Trumpet Vine from South America. Grows pretty well along the west coast too, too much frost in Vic though.
Thanks for the info. Just another garden escapee. 'They all ran wild'
I really liked seeing your perspective from a bike - just came back from a trip there - went to Atherton, Daintree and Mossman too :)
Busy country roads with no shoulder suck, some nice views though.
Yep, this one was particularly BAD as it is the only road north to Port Douglas and Cooktown, and it was prime tourist season - Dry season and school holidays.
The real reason that there were no trees is that the Murrays burnt down the Bush to hunt for the moa.
You are correct, but not entirely. Europeans have also destroyed vast swathes, in a much shorter time-span. "When Māori arrived, about 1250-1300 CE, they burnt large tracts of forest, mainly on the coasts and eastern sides of the two main islands. By the time European settlement began, around 1840, some 6.7 million hectares of forest had been destroyed and replaced by short grassland, shrubland and fern land. Between 1840 and 2000, another 8 million hectares was cleared, mostly lowland or easily accessible conifer-broadleaf forest". teara.govt.nz/en/interactive/11674/deforestation-of-new-zealand
Wassup Mr Signorini great content cant wait for more 🎉
I notice on the jetboat there's an empty seat.Had the passenger fallen out?
🙅♂️🤣🚤. Nup, just a vacant seat I believe.
Take heart, Van Gogh never sold a painting in his lifetime, you're work will be recognised.
Hi, I live in Scotland. What is going on when people in Western Australia are not looking at you're super stuff, about riding about Australasia. Lots of people out there and here just dont know what they are missing. Keep up the good work, its only a matter of time. My sister went to Australia in 1967, she came back for six months, early 70's, made the right decision and went home to Australia, she is still there with three grown children. God bless you all.
