An 8-week long of learning how to inspect different food commodities that the Department of Defense purchase for the military. At the end of the class, they will be assigned to different military installations supporting all of the military branches. Upon receiving their diploma, they will now be the DoD Executive Agents carrying out the food safety and food defense missions.

I'm enlisting & my recruiter & husband (army vet 10 years) recommended this. How often do you deploy? I hear this MOS is specific to the Army & we can be placed on any installation with any branch.
Tatyanna Travis, we have 6 deplorable units. If you are assigned there, you will more likely to deploy however, deployment for 68r, is a vacation compared to other mos. we can be stationed in army, navy and marine bases and other special places like the lab, ships ad other remote place like Gtmo, key west, Puerto Rico or Honduras.
Ann A Thank you for your response. have you deployed often being in this MOS for so long? And those are some pretty awesome places to go! I wouldn't mind it.
Tatyanna Travis I have been deployed 2x in 13 years I have been in, some 68r I know never been deployed and some deployed more than 2x. I guess it depends on where you end up to. I'm going back to a deployable unit because it's my choice. If you choose the 68r, it's an office job compare to the other mos. good luck and let me know if you need anything.
Ann A I probably will take this MOS. The only other ones they had available were combat or mechanic & I don't want either of those. I'll definitely me in contact with you! I go to MEPS next week.

do you like customer service, office work, sanitation, quality assurance, type of deal? this is the MOS. if you work hard, you will learn the ins and outs of food safety. When you get to the higher rank (E5-P or E6) you can apply to be a food safety officer.

Ann A My BCT is at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Starting June 15th, then i will be at Fort Sam, Houston for my AIT.
