People don't know how great this movie is......I guess maybe it seems close to my heart. My father was an anti-sub hunter back in the 1960's and he would tell me stories about Russian subs....This movie is just a masterpiece..

I love the music (When Johnny Comes Marching Home) used for the B52 crew segments. Sadly, I can only find the main Bomb Run soundtrack in stores or online shops but not the variants used during these segments. You’ll note the differences in drum rolls, beats, pacing, and horns. Wondering if anyone here found any of the different music versions anywhere. Thanks!!

This movie never gets old, the memories of those days are fresh in my mind and the movie portrays some facts about them. We were stationed due east of Carswell A.F.B. at Barksdale A.F.B. in Bossier City, LA. Those B-36's often flew to the north of us going east on missions. The dishes rattled in the cabinets from all those engines. At Barksdale, the same things went on as portrayed in the movie; missions, deployments, continuous training for the dreaded day that never came. Those days were hard on men, wives, children and airplanes. This movie is a jewel! I have a minimally edited version of it on VCR tape.

While only a movie this scene parallels an actual event. On the night of Feb 14,1950, US Air Force bomber B-36, 44-92075, experienced multiple engine fires, 17 persons aboard. It is believed 16 jumped, while there is speculative evidence that one remained aboard, although this is refuted by some. Only 12 were rescued. Authorities concluded the missing 4 or 5 (unless one remained aboard to fly aircraft) drown at sea in frigid waters. The plane believed to have crashed at sea, was later discovered more than 200 miles from last known position and found in a mountainous area, giving some credibility to the one pilot remaining aboard theory.
