2024 College Football Playoff Semifinals
As we wrap up the holidays, so to we must wrap up the college football season. But there’s still a few gifts stuffed in our stockings. Four blue blood programs remain. After neutering the dawgs, the Irish hope to continue to honor Bob Barker and help control the pet population by spaying the resurgent Nittany Lions. And then the Longhorns stampede into Arlington, straight into the teeth of a scarlet & grey Buckeye buzzsaw.

Grew up in syracuse and grew up with this rivalry game even went to the last time in 2012 in the dome when syracuse beat a 12th ranked geno smith and the 2011 WVU team

@whiskerswhiskeys not a hatred that I wanted to see people get hurt but yes we love to see WVU crumble to syracuse the WVU and Penn state games are 2 I wish we could get back on our schedule mainly abuse I want the WVU trophy game back

The current skillet is not the original skillet. The original skillet was lost and the new one came about in 1993
So here’s the thing: SMU and TCU are each others top rival in terms of traditional hate, but because TCU made it back to the power 5 first and dominated for decades due to SMU’s administrative malpractice, they like to think they’re above the SMU game. They want the “revivalry” with Baylor to be their biggest rivalry because that represents power 5 status and competing for national prominence. Problem for them is now SMU can compete with TCU again consistently and so the vitriol is back, but it makes them look bad fighting with somebody they consider lesser. And that’s why they’re canceling it.
Awesome insight! One of the most frustrating things for us is when we try and find information on some of these incredible trophies and rivalries but we come up short due to limited reporting. We love it when we can tap into local knowledge especially when it comes to how intense the rivalry is for fans. Thanks for the response and thanks for listening. What might have screwed you up on the Big Ten trivia at the start of the show was that Nebraska was in the Big 8 before it brought in 4 Texas schools to form the Big 12.
Iowa State's shade of red is Cardinal, so that's how they came up with a bird mascot.
Minnesota has NEVER played in the Big Ten Championship game, 2019 they lost to Iowa and Wisconsin to end the regular season and open the door for Northwestern to win the West.
