LYNYRD SKYNYRD ROCKS THIS SONG!! Mavs do a good job, but SKYNYRD blows them away!!!
Best of best do I miss them! Nostalgic listening to the era of real music!
The best Charley Pride song. A song that will be there for generations to come. RIP Charley Covid was a disaster though!
One of the great singers and songs.
One of my four favorites from billie.
Wrong photo. It's a song from the Stewart years. Album : Time to Think 1963
👍👍🪕
weren't they one great group ?
They sure were!
Really deserved better than #24 but I guess the lower ranking was because she'd sung so many similar songs before....including "If You Want Me" which charted much higher.
Another of her best tunes.
ya see, I try to do the right thing then life gets in the way. Well I'm * back home in huntsville again *
this song only went to #65 on the country charts in 1996!!!
this song only went to #74 on the country charts in 1992!!!
This may be just a haunting song of the loss of a child home. But it could be more than that. It could be a poignant - and mordant - critique of Nashville and the country music business as Malo found it in the 90s/early aughts. If so, it is in the same vein as Alan Jackson's allegorical "Murder on Music Row." I believe this song is Malo's assessment that country music has lost its soul and is hollow inside. The Mr. Jones to whom it is addressed is at one level the protagonist of the narrative but it is more deeply an address to George Jones, the still living at the time reigning king of Country music. Chris and Johnny, the "childhood friends" would make more sense if they were Kris and Johnny, which I haven't seen in any of the official lyrics, but even without evoking Kristoffersen, Johnny stands for Cash and I guess Chris could be Ledoux or someone else. Way off? You decide.
Love you and your great music
Another good one. We are country my man We really are.
A wonderful song. My opinion one of your best from one of your many great songs which includes ALL Really!

Reminds me of me a young romantic girl at heart 30 years ago...... Just follow the staircase......... I'm still awaiting that love
Love this song. John and Nick really do a great job. But in this rendition, I miss the wonderful guitar solo that was recorded in the "Back in Town" a the Hungry I album of 1964. This one just doesn't have the energy or artistry of the original.
one of my favorite songs by Charley Pride R.I.P CHARLEY
chicago The Lion Decided to get it over with A Something a Little Quiter!
Bigger Rounder Eyes, & Teeth added!
(2005)! Updated Mark Howard, & His Daughter Emily E. Howard!
I Love The Giant Wave Song!
This version done by the Mavericks really moves me more than the Lynyrd Skynyrd
NOT GONNA CRY FOR YOU ANYMORE.
A quand une tournée en France ?
I love your music
Been looking for this for years.
great,i was just looking for the orginal
Howdy Just love this , more of this . Thank you Mike
I like the live version way better
Eles são fantásticos.
Compare this to your Hip Hop Junk or Today's Country Music. This is what Music is supposed to sound like not that Noise that they call Hip Hop.
One of those songs that have stuck in my memory for forty-six years, since it came out in my years of high school, the early jobs that followed, building cars and engines, fishing, tennis and hockey... this song stayed put and has played in the Muzak tracks of my mind.
One in a million, grew up with dad playing his guitar and singing his songs...lots of love and respect for Charlie
Jimmy martin the king of bluegrass!
Thank you for uploading a quality recording of this song! Yours is the only video of this song on RUclips with audible vocals.
this song went to #24 on the country charts in 1979!!!
Great tune, one of her best. It should of been higher on the charts like in the top ten.
John Stewart.
theres no doubt about it Them boys can do it
this song went to #1 on the country charts in 1972!!!
I'm five hundred miles away from home. Tear drops fell on Mama's note, When I read the things she wrote. She said, we miss you, Son. We love you. Come on home. Well, I didn't have to pack. I had it all right on my back. Now, I'm five hundred miles away from home. Away from home. Away from home. Cold and tired, and all alone. Yes, I'm five hundred miles away from home. I know this is the same road I took, The day I left home, But, it sure looks different, now. Well, I guess I look different, too, ‘Cause time changes everything. I wonder what they'll say, When they see their boy lookin’ this way. Oh, I wonder what they'll say when I get home. Can't remember when I ate. It's just thumb, and walk, and wait. And I'm still five hundred miles away from home. Well, if my luck had been just right, I'd be with them all tonight. But, I'm still five hundred miles away from home. Away from home, away from home. Cold and tired, and all alone. Yes, I'm still five hundred miles away from home. Oh, I'm still five hundred miles away from home.
This should have thousands of likes. Charley Pride is one of The Best country music singers ever.

I've come to know Robert. He's been completely sober for quite a while now and is one swell human being! Miss him being with his original group but he is still holding his own! Still, love this band and love Raul's voice....spell binding as always!!!!
