Hi Lauren. Japanese Chin's are fabulous! However they are also somewhat fragile. Protruding eyes that can get scratched, slighty unbalanced because they are top heavy - and small! Ren is 6 pounds. I do not allow my Doberman and Chin to play - at all - for fear of Ren getting hurt (by accident) If you want a playmate for the Dobe, you might want to get a breed that is a little more rough & tumble.

Thats hilarious! I also have a doberman and considering a chin dog as a playmate as my dog is rather bored but plays well with little dogs; any advice re the match?
