What was your favorite exercise from The Co-Pilot?
This is an all-time favorite exercise among my coachees! Why? Because it helps you externalise whatever is going on inside of you, and that helps you to understand it and be intentional about how you want to show up. PS my bus is DEFINITELY a Central American chicken bus 😆

How I make decisions without constant overthinking - This Expat Life #67
Просмотров 5012 часов назад
The #1 challenge expats come to me with? Deciding on their next big step. As an expat, a decision on your career or location has a huge impact on other areas of your life too. So that can trigger doubts if you even want it. Plus, as the future feels more uncertain when you live abroad (you don’t know how long you’ll stay there), it often complicates going forward with a decision too. The result...

Staying fit & healthy as a busy expat in NYC with Amie Wiley [This Expat Life #65]

How do you stay active, fit & healthy when you prioritise your career abroad? How do you stay committed to exercise when you’re just about to move countries and the overwhelm is real? Questions I have definitely asked myself, as - even though I regularly exercise - my work & to do list often get priority over a gym class. I got impressed with fitgirl & content creator Amie Wiley who did the 75h...

This Expat Life #44: Delphine & Amanda on blazing your own trail and thriving beyond tradition
It seems like older people leave the US, to go live in some third world nation, and it's really just about having more money to spend on partying and drinking. They have no ties to the culture, it's not their heritage, but they think being able to party all the time is a necessity.
Have you seen Brian the Lion's video(s)? He's an american living here in the philippines, looks like he's having the time of his life! Hey, how did I end up on this video?! I'm not an expat! lol, I guess RUclips wants me to hear some personal development lessons to better myself and look deeper within me rather than blame external factors... New Sub!
Your Video was awesome.
Really Interesting Video.
Thanks for sharing. I find your message on key for me.
Thank you for your kind comment :)

I question the use of the word expat. Are you planning to return to your country of origin? If so, you are a migrant worker. Are you planning to remain in your new location? Then you are an immigrant. Have you been expelled from your country of residence? Then you are an exile. My father was an actual ex-pat, as he (we) lived in many different countries during his career, and the expectation was that he / we would return to the UK at retirement. And that is what he did. So since I was born in Canada, have lived in many countries for years at a time, and I currently reside in UK, am I an ex-pat? Despite having zero plans to 'return' to Canada having never lived there? Make it make sense please!
Thanks for the add. I agree, the use of the term 'expat' is a grey area. You can also still be an expat when you plan to return to your home country, by the way. In your case, yes, it's difficult to put a label on it, Third Culture Kid might be the most fitting. However, does it really matter? :)
expat? you mean migrant
No I mean expat 😉 The one who moves for work and for a limited time. But migrants, international professionals & globetrotters are very welcome too
@@amandamaxime you are talking from a white privileged person point of view. You are a migrant the same way we all are. What you are saying is classism.
@@amandamaxime but why do the brits in Costa del Sol call themselves expats then
@@tanelpolts7257because they don’t want to be seen as “immigrants” which of course is what they are.
@@tanelpolts7257 My guess is because they think it sounds better than immigrants 🤷♀
Why is it that you refer to first-world migrants as expats? they're just like every other migrant, except from white countries.
I question my life choices during all seasons.
Then it's time to do something about it 🙈
Goodness, what a tedious, self obsessed woman.
Oh my goodness!
To be honest, you sound like an incessant complainer. Perhaps you were a general malcontent in the Netherlands too? Whatever the case it seems that you might be malcontent almost anywhere if things like noise and hearing other people live life bother you so much. Don’t be such a snowflake!
Quite the assumption you make about me based on one video about a very specific city. Nope, I'm not an incessant complainer nor malcontent, I'm actually a very cheerful person, in all 5 countries that I lived in. Just not in Rio ;)
Your Video is Nice, But Video has SEO problem
My advice to your "burned friend" is to find a way out because "toxicity" is the norm in most companies and corporations, and it never heals. I plan to resign very soon myself and I know her feeling but sometimes a reboot is a must as long as you can sustain yourself financially. You are right, she needs people who understand her impasse so she can "vent" a bit but these people are very few and generally hard to find. If she wants to reply here I would like to chat since we are both in the same state of mind. Wish you and her the best.
Hi Nick, thank you for your thoughtful reply and I'm sorry to hear that you are in the same situation! Yes, I 100% agree with you that toxicity is often the norm and that a reboot is probably necessary. But I'm a coach, not a mentor, so I help my clients find their own answers and I don't do that by steering them into a certain direction :) The only thing I really thought was what needed right now, as a very first step, was to boost her energy. Once that is better, then there is more space to contemplate next moves. To give you some hope: I was in the exact same situation and found my way out, and now after doing inner work I'll never end up there again. If you want to chat in a free discovery call and hear how my coaching could help you, know that you are always very welcome. You can use the link in my profile. Good luck!
Your podcast is really awesom

I loved this conversation. Betina gave precious tips. What a good surprise to see Betina is Brazilian! 😊 I’ve already shared the video with a friend who is moving to China with her family as expats.
Thank you Giselle! I passed your comment to Betina!
Hi Amanda! I typed “expat” on Spotify while I was doing the dishes today, and I found your podcast. I read the title and found it really interesting you are coming to Rio! How nice! I am from Sao Paulo and I love Rio so much! I am sure you will have a great time there! I also have an expat heart! I lived in India some years ago, which gave me the chance to travel around Asia, and I was also an exchanged student in the USA when I was younger. Now I am a mom, wife and a teacher who just loves to travel. Well good luck here in Brazil! I will keep watching your videos or listening to you podcast to keep in track about your life as a carioca! Good luck! My best wishes to you!
Hi Giselle, ah thank you so much! 💜 I really appreciate your comment! And I'm glad the expat topic resonates with you (you must miss expat life if you typed it into Spotify!). I will surely podcast about my adventures in Rio 😀 Abraço!
What about immigrant life?
What about it? :)
Could you kindly provide me with your email address?
I have listened breathlessly to your Podcast. You are a strong and optimistic person. And you've been through a lot in those three years that you've been back in NL. I don't think I could have handled this like you did. You have touched and inspired me and I have to ask myself about who I am and what I really want in life. Thank you very much for your story and I’ll consider about joining you as a coach because our lives and backgrounds are quite different. For now, you’ll live life after all you've been through, life only smiles at you from now on!
Thank you for your very kind & uplifting words Jeroen! Much appreciated :) Always welcome to book a free discovery call if you want to hear more about my coaching. Have a good day!
I haven't had any fun lately, 😭 so it was fun. You bring me joy!❤🙂I love the kind and generous heartwarming atmosphere that you create, your kind, easygoing, warm vibe. ❤I like the essence how you live on. I need to be true to myself and find a job I am passionate about. I want to find a way to live as who I really am.
Thank you! :) Happy to read this, thank you for your sweet words. I hope you find a job you love. Maybe the other episodes of This Expat Life can help you live a life that's more true to yourself 💜
