I am glad you are back 💛
pretty clunky, slowly slowly
❤@@debartthere
I was watching for your post....finally searched you out. Your practice inspired me to create my own series of dots and check in words. I shared the practice with my group of online artist friends and they urged me to save my little bits of watercolor art. There is darkness everywhere. You and your practice are a bright light in my darkness.
Ohh thank you Joan I'm so glad that I'm able to share this process. It's been, and continues to be really grounding an informative. I'm hoping to create a space where Daily Dotters can meet and share. Will keep you posted.🙏🏻
I see you. Thank you for posting your daily dots. I hope you find your way out of the darkness.
Thank you, on my way out, slowly 🙏🏻
😂
Beautiful-thank you!
Thankyou ☺
Lookes gorgeous
Thank you. Feels like a magic trick :)
👍
"Tingly." :)
Attempting a rebrand of sizzly.....
Great idea ! What type of paper is it ?
Water colour paper. In the early ones, including this one, it's pretty fancy. I swapped to a cheaper, not cotton, paper recently. It didn't hold the colour as well so I've started painting a wet circle on the paper to trap the pigments in a smaller space.
Thanks. It's been quite wonderful for me as a process. Also, the commitment to posting each day has made me keep going when I otherwise might have 'just not had the time today'. We all know how that it☺
I love it !
This turned out so beautiful, I love it
Thank you, some of them are the most lovely little artworks. Feels like a magic trick :)
They say never work with children and animals 😂 It still looked lovely, just with added love. It reminded me of millefiori glass at one point while it was wet.
Hahaha yep Magpie doubling down on the accepting what is theme! And so yes about the glass, I felt like it reminded me of something :)
I've started putting a wash of water on the back of my squares first. It allows the paper fibres on both sides to expand, which helps stop it curling, and kind of sticks it to the table, helping to keep it flat. I'm still working on getting the right sort of paint to water ratio for the colours to flow and mingle nicely, but it's interesting to watch.
Thanks for the tip Nancy. I'll give it a try too :)
@@debartthere let me know how you get on 😊
I tried putting water on the back and with the paper i have at the moment, cheap, it curled the other way ! So I'm going to try just painting a strip along the top and bottom see how that goes.
@debartthere that's odd. I'm only using cheap paper too. I'm interested to see how you get on with the strip of water top and bottom
@@NancyTaplin-br4uz I tried just dots on the corners in DD 79 that didn't work so well. Strips on todays post DD 80. Works a treat :) Thankyou _ll_
Sorry, but, what's happening here?
Not sure what you're asking. I'm writing three words that describe how I feel in the moment, then choosing colours and creating a small visual image to explore it. Art Therapy things.
I've not been able to watch for a few days, and I've just caught up. I've missed those few moments of calm. Watching the paint move is very stilling and centering. Thank you 😊
Pleasure Thank you for sharing my journey.🙏🏻 Being seen has had the benefit of creating a committed daily practice for me. It has been hugely beneficial in the moment, and as a tool for reflection on how I am experiencing my life. Surprising patterns are emerging. Time for another Emotional Landscape 😅
Beautiful mix of the two blues ❤
I'm curious, is it white watercolour or white gouache you're using?
It's water colour. I've tried lots of different water colours and they are all vary in how they behave when dropped onto the wet paper.
@@debartthere Thank you. I thought from the way it behaved it was, but wasn't completely sure 😊
Beautiful ❤
This is a lovely idea, a wonderful way to stop and check in with yourself. A little hypnotic, watching the paint spread, too. :)
I love the collaborative nature of it; the water, the pigment and myself creating together. Some of them become really beautiful.
When do you do it?
Mostly in the mornings, that's when my life has the most routine, but I don't have a strict time. Somedays everything gets away from me.
@@debartthere thank you 🙏
This reminds me of the window of tolerance 🎨
Inspired by that for sure. I was never happy with that name though. As someone who feels deeply, and wishes to continue doing so, I wanted to create a framework where all feelings are welcomed and experienced. Strangely it seems, as I continue this with process, my feelings are 'level' more often. The daily action of noticing and accepting appears to be creating a shift. Irony🤔
Since I found you, Ive been doing the daily dot. ❤ great idea, really find it calming to watch and participate. Thankyou:)
So happy to hear that. I hoped it would bring some of the calm and insight for others it has been bringing me. At some stage my intention is to meet up on line with fellow dotters and share our experiences. Let me know if you'd like to be part of that. 🌱
Lovely ❤
Hi there! "I'm curious about the ultimate goal of expressing your emotions through each card." TYIA
I have lived with a variety of mental health challenges throughout my life. The initial goal for the dots was to commit to a daily mindfulness practice that included some creativity. I have chosen to share them because the process has been really helpful for me and I thought perhaps it might resonate with others. The second goal is to create an accurate picture of my feelings over a longer period of time. The motivation for this was gain insight into my general way of being in the world. My hope is that through mindfully noticing how I am feeling, along with allowing and honouring it, I will be able to be with my feelings with more care, grace & courage, and less fear.
@@debartthere I forgot to ask you why you write something on the back of each card?
@@Crisferusa the words on the back are the record of how i'm feeling in that moment. I use them to guide me when I am Clustering and making the Emotional Landscape. I was also curious about whether feelings had certain colours in common.
Another jump in subscribers! Congratulations. Single and solo has some observations on growing your channel if that is what you are interesting in although I like the short format you are using along with the other little videos and shot readings that I use to begin my days.
Thanks, I'll check it out. I honestly was not expecting my little journey with this to resonate with so many other people. Still wobbling along, both literally and figuratively speaking, with finding my feet in the land of youtube so thanks heaps for the tip 🙂
Did you mean Silver and Solo?
@@debartthere Well, yes, of course I did mean Silver and Solo. since she has monetized her channel I do not receive her videos as often, but if you search through her posted videos she does several on increasing membership and how to monetize. Anne Livingston Art also is also chronicaling the growth of her art business through her channel and now is seeing some growth in her channel.. Royalty Tiny Home Creators is a single lady who just began her channel nd it is growing steadily. She is recording her struggles as an older lady with extremely limited resources. The algorithms of RUclips are difficult to grasp/wrap you head around and seem fickle. There are probably videos just about the algorithms! Art Therapy is one of my interests so the RUclips algorithms placed your video in my YT feed.
@@Joan-d3z Cool thank you. 'Brenna living joyfully' Is similar. She's great :) I guess I'm taking what I refer to as The Field of Dreams approach, 1989 Kevin Costner film. "If you build it they will come."☺ I want to enjoy it and not put too much pressure on my self. I guess sharing this stuff is healing for me and I hope it will shine a light for others.
The white looked like a flower as it spread, just beautiful ❤
I know, I've always found the dance of working collaboratively with water colour to be mesmerising. That's part of why I decided to create these little meditations.
I'm loving these too. It's fascinating to see the colours spread and blend, and to see how they dry. So beautiful. I'm going to start doing them as well and then use them for slow drawing when they're dry. Thank you x
Quite a few people are planning on doing them. Would be so lovely to have a little community of daily dotters :)
Your video caught my attention in my feed and I was really fascinated by it. I absolutely enjoy watching these videos - they're so serene and satisfying. I'm a new subscriber now. I am thinking about starting my own dot paintings since it seems like a great mindfulness activity! Can you please tell me the size of the watercolor paper you use? Thank you in advance!
Hooray, I'm hoping we can create a little dot community, a few other people have started too🙂 The squares are 6cm.
Interesting. New sub. I hope you’re better by now (five days from video).
Thank you. I've had a good run but hit a pot hole today.🥴 Finding it interesting really noticing where I'm at each day.
Not sure how I found these videos but I'm hooked.
The process is addictive too! It's like I get to see myself from a different perspective and I'm curious about who I am so I keep going.
You have nice fingernails.
oh thankyou..not always super clean though..gardener things☺🌱
This is a wonderful mindfulness exercise! I will try this.
Thank you. Was just a little idea I had to create an easy, quick daily practice for myself. When I spoke to my kids about it they wanted to do it too so I thought I'd share it in youtube land. So glad that it is resonating with you. I think we have the beginnings of a little daily dotter community : ) I'd love to find a way for us to share with each other. Haven't been able to get my head around how that could work yet.
You have doubled your subscribers from last week!
I know is that normal? Total newbie at this😅
Thought I would let you know I have started my dot paintings...
That's so good. Really interested to hear how you find it. Was wondering if i should invite subscribers to do a 14 day lap together. The possibly meet up online to share. What do you think?
@@debartthere count me in
@@oricoh great will keep you posted :)
Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you rolling through it all, on the mend🌱
Really cool!
Thanks Susanna :)

Cool!! 😍
Thank you for these fourteen quiet color meditations.
Thank you for taking the time to witnessing my journey 🙂
Thank you Love love love this to the. Point of doing it myself
Hahha, that's awesome :)
Your video showed up in my feed and I was intrigued. So do you write the 3 things on ur mind at that moment? The colors you choose are on spur of the moment ? Do you keep this paper ?
I sit down all set up and just check inside my body for how I'm feeling. I try to do that quickly so that I don't 'think' too much. Then yes you're right I choose the colours on the spur of the moment. I keep all the squares. In a couple of days I will be doing some processes with them which I will document and share.
Loving these videos, so calm and satisfying. I love seeing what the dot turned into.
Feel better soon!
Thank you so much Filomena. My little four legged best mate of 17 years departed 4 months ago. It's been quite a process letting him go 💔
@@debartthere Ah! Yes, that's so hard. Chin up!
Lovely tranquil video! No noise, just enough doing and more being, beautiful! 🧘
Thanks JR. Really happy that it resonated for you 🙏☺
So good! I did the daily dot experience and loved exploring how certain feelings could be expressed in colours and shapes, reshaping how I identify with and interpret these feelings. Really recommend! 🥰
Thanks Selma. This is my second round, it continues to surprise me as way to explore what my lived experience is
So satisfying!
I believe that expression need not be so abstract, but have some form.
Thanks for your comment Catherine. Each of us are entirely unique and so will express ourselves and explore our inner landscapes in different ways. One of the elements with this process for me is to explore working collaboratively with the materials, allowing them to create the image. Of course the Rorschach Test comes to mind when you are working in an abstract space, however, for this process I am attempting to resist the temptation to interpret or label each dot.
