Yes, it is good. If you need a reel for bait and wait or slow jigging, this is for you. It is better than the new Daiwa BG (as this model has flex on the seat) and better than the low end Shimanos. It is also smooth and quiet.

Hi Spicy Angler. Yes it is a good rod, I even used it for trolling with 30 gram lure (Rapala red head), caugh 3kg grouper. Your spot is similar to where I am fishing, at 30 t0 40 meters depth. I use 60g jig cast and retrieve technique. The action is nice for slow pitch with 60 to 80 gram jig. Thing is, you can only do a few jig and retrieve because the water is shallow. Honestly, if I will use it for depths more than 40m, say 100m or below, this rod will not be very effective. I caught 5 kg shy Barracuda with this and a couple of good size king mackarel and queen fish. For depths below 40m, this rod is perfect!

by the way, I moded the last ring guide by converting from single seat to K seat. This manner, I can hook my jig on the last ring guide without worrying that I might bend or break.

@@DNOYPIANGLER thanks for the reply really useful. Don’t you use it for fast or slow jigging vertically do you cast it away and jig it close to bottom? Also why in depth more than 40m say, the rod won’t be effective. ??

@@SpicyAnglerhi, I cast 60 g jig as far I can, let it sink (say count 10 secs) then retrieve as fast or medium (depends which is effective) while jjgging (pumping the rod). More like diagonal jigging.This technique is really good if you are fishing kings mackarel or barracuda. If you use it lie around 100 m, when u will have a strike, the rod will be so soft (assuming that there is no current). That is why when jigging vertically more than a 100m, we usually use 150g to 300 g jig because of the current. And if you will use it with this rod specs, the rod might break.

Penn authority is heavy aswell. If you do bottom, it would be that much of a difference than casting.

Daiwa saltiga dogfight is only upto 8000, this is 30k.

This been ipx7 and the 8500 to 10500 penn authority been higher penn seems better buy for price

oh, I did not know that denali switch needed to be turned on before you can use the high beam. My rigged can flash hi coz my relays are always ON. As long as the rear plate light is working (fused not busted).

hi, sorry I cannot confirm that since I have wired my fog lamps independently. The power I took for my relay was from the rear park light and the main power comes directly from the battery.
