What took SO long to upload this?? 😭😭😭
Was busy making the 100th video and yeah. I took way too long making it.
This would be crazy, but what if there was a peach transformation where she had elasticity, the power to stretch and reform her body. The name could be “rubber peach.”
I love this idea.
What should her outfit look like?
Umm. Maybe something like a super hero? @@griffinhurst7051
How about something like a pink leotard with a crown symbol in the middle of it. The gameplay could work like she can use her elasticity to grab long distance enemies, change her shape into different things like turning her legs into a spring like shape to bounce and reach secrets
Elastic Peach
I've played the entirety of both Freedom Planet games, and instead of simply saying yes or no on whether you should play it, I'll give you the rundown of what makes this different from Sonic to help you determine whether it's your kind of thing or not. It's a list so long yet still truncated, that it backs up the game's intent to further distance the series from the mix of Sonic and Gunstar Heroes inspirations that the 1st game was already fairly distinct from at times.: There's a heavier focus on combat (Complete with an attack button with more attacks based on the direction held and a parry button), a total lack of any way to do any form of "Rolling/Spin Dashing" at will unless you're playing as Carol Tea (The wildcat, who can only do the basic Sonic 1 roll, otherwise the moveset is still completely different), a health bar that requires "Life Petals" to heal, jumping not dealing any damage on its own (The most you have is Sash Lilac's Cyclone, which is a double jump attack that also slows down your fall), a special energy bar that allows another different move to be used via the special button (The ring counterparts, "Crystals" refill the bar extra fast, otherwise they don't protect the player like Sonic does. Many enemies drop these, so destroying them can also speed up your run, because all these special moves also have utility in mobility. This especially applies to Neera Li, who can also fill her special bar dramatically fast by having her attacks connected with enemies, even if they're invulnerable), a "stocks" lives system that gives you the choice between a traditional lives checkpoint system or a Super Smash Bros. style mini-revival, a customizable "zoom" camera that zooms out in response to your speed to make obstacles safer to speed through, the removal of contact damage on most enemies (Which instead play their own attack animations before they can deal damage), multiple hub world areas with NPCs to talk to plus minigames to play, a full-fledged item equipment system to increase or decrease the difficulty level in various ways depending on the items used, and the many differences in gameplay styles between the four playable characters (Milla Basset in particular even has consistent access to projectiles and shield reflector attacks). Even the level design is inherently different, since enemies more often than not have multiple hit points that warrant them being more spread out across the stages, said stages are also much longer to account for the speeds you can reach, the crystals refilling your special bar means they're placed at spots where it'd be a good idea to use the special move. You can also take the game slowly with no time limit, as there's plenty of treasure chests, character-specific powerups,, and crystal containers to reward stage exploration, with the rank that modifies the amount of crystals earned not affected by how long it took you to finish the stage (But rather, how many stocks/lives you lost, and whether or not you took damage). Oh, and each stage has a boss at the end of them, there's no 2 or 3 Act system to each stage (The previous Freedom Planet 1 had such albeit seamlessly with no "Act" screen,, but many of the differences I listed earlier still apply there, albeit with more subtlety). There's a free demo to play as all 4 characters for the PC version already available (Full game released on PC in September 2022), and said demo might also come to consoles upon the game releasing there. The first game already has a demo on what should be all the platforms it's released on, but only has 2 of its 3 characters playable. The first Freedom Planet was also great, but didn't have the Guard system, zooming out camera, different lives system, full-fledged controller compatibility on PC, or just about any of the other features that made the sequel a lot more fair in design, also dealing with a clearly incomplete story that left too many threads hanging, but if you can look past such rough edges, it's also a master-class action platformer, released on the same year as the just-as-awesome Shovel Knight, but as a love letter to the 16-bit era in general instead of 8-bit. Both games also have high focus on the story and characters, so much so that the first game has a title screen cutscene to introduce the main villain. The 2nd game's story, while a lot better, since its plot threads don't feel like they go in strange places, does demand you to go for a "true ending" by collecting what's called Time Capsules. I was originally going to describe each character in extreme depth, but I'll make it quick instead, this comment is getting absurdly long as is, and there's enough tutorial text on the second game's guide screen too. Note that all of the normal melee attacks I'm not mentioning, each have their own role for preserving/increasing your mobility and/or speed, so experimentation is encouraged! Sash Lilac is your "speed type", not the spin dash kind, but rather something akin to the rocket attacks of Rocket Knight's Sparkster, albeit in six directions, so it can't be directly up or directly down, and going only left or right provides more distance than the diagonal direction. All of her attacks have lingering multi-hit hitboxes, so don't underestimate her attack power either. Carol Tea was heavily changed for the second game, she still has her forward-lunging Pounce with the same double jump input as Lilac's, Mega Man X/Zero-esque wall jumping, and aforementioned rolling for increasing speed on slopes, but her few-frame invulnerability Wild Kick has been replaced by the Jump Disc, which essentially magnetizes to the nearest enemy, and if the special button is pressed again, she gains a little invulnerability and homes in on the enemy, able to keep you close to them, and use them as a form of mobility too. This Jump Disc can be aimed in any direction too, giving her the best vertical mobility. Her motorcylce is a moveset of its own, able to deal damage with a smaller double jump, boost periodically with the special button in the first game or the Guard button in the second, and most importantly, climb up any wall or ceiling without the speed required for other characters to do the same, giving her an unprecedented level of mobility in stages filled with uneven surfaces. Milla Basset is even more distinct compared to the former two, relying on shields you can jump around with, and cubes created either with holding the special button in the first game, or pressing the Guard button in the second. These cubes can then be thrown (First game only), used as fuel for stronger projectiles (Second game only), or converted into a Super Shield Burst, which is essentially a laser beam that pushes Milla in the opposite direction, creating extreme speed/momentum in one of six directions of your choosing (First game), or eight directions of your choosing (Second game), with the potential to become the fastest character in the game overall, but this isn't easy to maintain in comparison to the others. The shields, which can be held for as long as you liked, can also be aimed in six or eight directions depending on the game, reflecting or nullifying almost any projectile in the entire game, including those from bosses! She's also got a small flutter-jump-alike move in Puppy Float activated by jumping again midair, but this kills your momentum, best used for reaching otherwise unreachable places instead of going fast. Unlike the other characters, none of these moves depend or are filled up by crystals, so the way you approach level design with her is not dependent on collectables or enemies as much as the others. Neera Li was the bad cop NPC of the first game, made playable in the second, taking a clearly combat-focused approach, where she can enter a Focus mode if she Guards while the special bar is full, giving her increased speed and recovery on all of her attacks. Even without Focus mode, she doesn't receive knockback while attacking in most cases, so preserving her horizontal momentum and chasing down enemies is fairly easy. It's important to mention her alternative method of gaining bar from attacking enemies, because when the bar drains during Focus mode, it can be refilled over and over if your attacks are connecting with enemies, prolonging its duration. She's the only character with a traditional double jump and multiple ways to cash out the special bar, thanks to her three Frost Arts, which have their own utility in mobility and destroying enemies alike, usually consisting of gaining height or freezing enemies altogether. She's the most difficult character to use, since she can't Guard without entering Focus mode, giving her actions more consequences than the others, but has the highest potential to destroy bosses and enemy gauntlets in record time! And lastly, this series is very story-focused as well, giving plenty of personalities to its various characters and giving them threatening obstacles to overcome (The first game's title screen cutscene establishes this well, to say the least). The second game's story, while slower-paced, doesn't suffer from the sheer amount of hanging plot threads the first game had, so I prefer that one. Regardless of which one you prefer, there's some high-profile voice acting work at play here, ranging from the narrator voice of all-time, Edwyn Tiong for the Magister, to Christopher Robin Sabat of Dragon Ball Z fame for Seregant Askal! I know this series won't appeal to everyone, considering it's not what one would consider a "pure" platformer because of all the action-based combat elements, and the story isn't afraid to go into content warning territory, but do I know that those it does appeal to, will find plenty to remember, with plenty of content to show for the 4 years of development time for the first game, 7 years for the second. I'll be glad to answer any other questions you may have!
hell yeah
Happy birthday Stan
