Crafting with Clementine
США
Добавлен 21 июл 2024
Sewing, knitting, quilting, home decor & cats! My assistants Clementine and Buffy are always there to help and you'll probably see one of them in every video.
I mostly write tutorials for sewing clothes and quilts but I love basically all crafts. Knitting, needle felting, clay, painting, punch needle crafts, and candle/soap making will also appear on my channel from time to time!
Thank you for visiting my channel and I hope you find something you love here. It makes my day just to have you visit or watch one of my videos! I truly love making inspiring crafts and teaching people how to make things.

Charm Pack Trinket Dish (slow version) + Batch Sewing Tips
If you've been on my channel before, you might have already seen my first trinket dish sewing video ruclips.net/video/ndt2Ce9lqOQ/видео.html
It's been one of my most popular videos yet, so I decided to expand on it with some additional tips! I also wanted to take an opportunity to slow down the tutorial a little because there were some comments on the original video about the narration being too fast.
In this video, I'm sharing how to make charm pack trinket dishes as well as tips for making multiples at a time. This is a technique most people call "batch sewing." This project is perfect for sewing in batches, and it makes these super fast to sew!

Charm packs aren't just for quilts! Make this cute fabric trinket dish!
Просмотров 5 тыс.21 день назад
Do you collect a lot of charm packs? I have dozens! If you aren't familiar, a charm pack is a type of quilting fabric that's pre-cut to 5" squares. You usually get them in packs with 42 pieces of fabric. I love buying charm packs because they're an affordable way to collect fabric (and I also hate cutting fabric when I'm making a quilt!) But you can make so much more than quilts with charm pack...
Stop throwing your fabric scraps away! Make this instead!

Crumb quilting is a great way to use up little scraps of fabric that would otherwise be thrown in the trash. A crumb quilt is basically just a quilted piece made out of tiny fabric scraps in any shape or size. You don't need to plan it ahead - in fact it looks better if you don't! There are lots of ways to make a crumb quilt but this is how I make them! - Start by grabbing two pieces of fabric ...

Sick of messy-looking rib stitches? Thankfully they're easy to fix! All you need to do is use twisted stitches to correct the problem. By doing a twisted purl stitch directly to the left of your knit rib, you close the gap and keep the stitches snug. On the following row, you untwist the stitch by knitting through the back leg. How to Make a Fall Garland with Silk Leaves 🍁🍂
Wow, you weren’t kidding when you said you salvage fabric crumbs! I saw your trinket dish tutorial before this video. The fabric you create with the crumbs would make beautiful trinket dishes.
The trinket dish is beautiful and would make a great stocking stuffer. These would also be great for storing sewing machine presser feet, binder clips, thimbles, buttons or even small jewelry. Thank you.
SO cute! Will have to make some.
Very very sweet little fabric boxes! Congratulations and thank you for sharing. Your voice is very calming. You were very good teacher and I love your background music. I intend to make a few of these for Quilting friends and I mean large sum to10 inch squares with a little more cut out of the corners to make them taller. Wonderful for closing small gifts. Or scrap baskets at retreats.❤
@@rosehixon2790 thank you so much! Your comment made my day 😊 I love the idea of making these with 10” squares as well! They would be so great for gifts or scrap baskets!
Thanks for watching! Just a note that this isn't a step-by-step pattern tutorial. I am using the Loaf Cat Pattern by Annie Carraway and in this video I'm explaining my experience using the pattern and some modifications I made to create a pet "portrait."
Would have been nice if you said it’s not a pattern tutorial
Hi, I'm sorry about that. I do mention it in the description but I could have been clearer in the video intro. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for uploading it. I was wondering if there should be an addition of fabric to the patchwork side, so the seams at not in contact with the blanket.
@@MsFadir yes you certainly could add fabric as well! I didn’t have a lot of fabric yardage or interfacing on hand when I made these but it would definitely help add stability 😊 I may try adding fabric or something when I make another one but they have held up well without it, at least from my experience!
@CraftingwithClementine I'll give it a try without as well. Thanks for answering 😊
Great tutorial! I always enjoy your videos and pace. Thank you for doing this. Why can't all tutorials be this easy to follow? 😊
@@irmadowd1612 thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear you enjoy them! 💖
Great video! One idea that I use for saving time and thread is putting a little piece of fabric under the needle and stitch it between each quilt square. I hope that makes sense.
@@LAKP1958 that’s a really good idea! Thank you!
Where did you get the fabric with the squirrel?
@@disneymother801 it’s from the Reading Nook fabric collection by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society!
I just made this bag, was nervous because I've never made one before. But your step by step instructions and template helped me so much that it came out perfect. Thank you!

Great video thanks
@@Kitten49able thank you! 🙏
Cute project! I watched on my iPad. And slowed the video down to 75x so was able to follow her explanations much better. I’ll probably try this and make a couple.
Chain piecing makes life sew much easier!!
Yes it does! I’ll definitely be doing that next time I sew these!
Nice video. I piece quilts mostly but it’s nice to see a quick and cute project like this. ❤️
@@karenm7260 thank you so much! This is fun for leftover scrap fabric too 🙂
Adorable!

Cute project!!
@@wandawalker4191 thank you so much! 💖
Very cute project and nice tutorial but you speak very fast, a little stressful to watch but thank you for the video.
I’m sorry about that. I didn’t realize until after someone else pointed it out to me and it’s something I’m working on for the future. I appreciate the feedback
No worries. You did a great video tutorial and thanks for sharing ❤
I watch on an iPad and you can touch the screen in the upper right hand corner, hit the icon that looks like a gear cog, select play back speed and you can actually slow it down to where you can hear her better.
@ thank you so much !
Thank you for watching! I got some feedback that I'm talking a little fast in this video, so I apologize for that. I updated the CC subtitles so they're not auto-generated and I hope that helps 💜 I also published an updated version of this tutorial with extra tips for batch sewing (and slower narration). You can check that out here if you like: ruclips.net/video/issi5ICUu-o/видео.html thanks for watching
Why in the world are you talking so fast?
@ I’ve been made very aware of it and it’s something I’m working on for future videos. Thanks for watching
Cute project - nice fabrics - had to use *subtitles* as speech was a little fast/deep.
Thank you for the feedback! I updated the subtitles so they're not auto-generated and I hope that helps.
Beautiful (¿can you work on the volume, I'm old😅)
@@ChristianAustinite thank you for the feedback 💖
Oh my gosh that little trinket dish IS so cute! Wow!

@@suziejohnson2690 oh fun! 🩷 I love it when I see fabric I recognize in other people’s projects!!
My favorite way to sew!
It's so fun isn't it!
You may be the first one to convince me to try this. I have resisted for years sewing tiny pieces together. Thanks for the tutorial. ❤️
@@karenm7260 yay! I hope you give it a try 💖 It’s so fun once you start!
Beautiful!
@@4Grace4Truth thank you so much!
I too sew the very small pieces of my scraps into blocks. However, to save time and to be efficient I chain piece. And save money on thread. Thank you for sharing.
@@francespiquemal8813 yes chain piecing would be a great way to do this! I usually do that with other blocks but hadn’t considered it for this type of quilting for some reason! Thanks for the tip 🙂
I'm glad you posted this video. I've made 2 loaf cats with the same persons pattern your using. My ears and feet wouldn't line up and I found on the 2nd cat to move the feet to align. I'm still having a tough time with the ears, but won't give up. Your cats looking great😊
@@candiarmstrong7279 I’m so glad you can relate and liked the video! I’m also still having trouble with the feet as well. The cat I’m working on now also has issues with the feet lining up, which of course I only noticed after finishing the cat 😅 I think the crochet kind of twists or rotates as you work because my marker was way off position! Still trying to figure that out but I’ll definitely post more of these. Don’t give up you can do it!!
Oh wow, I love this idea! Not only is the outcome super cute, but our cats have the same name! 😁I love the idea of a crochet journal, and watching a genuine beginner as a beginner helps set more realistic expectations than trying to follow pros all the time -- not that you're not already a fantastic crocheter! I just really appreciate the honesty ❤
@@Hanakochan10 thank you so much! And that’s so cute you have a Buffy too!! When I made these I wasn’t sure if people would like hearing from such a newbie so your comment means a lot! 💖
So cute 🥰 I want to try this!

@CraftingwithClementine it has always been intimidating to me and the way you were talking about things made me rethink it. If someone as crafty as you has a hard time with it then I'm not the odd duck out! Also how could I say no to that loaf cat face?? 😺
@@SkyrimCartographer yeah definitely! I feel intimidated by other crafters all the time if that helps! Everyone has to start somewhere ☺️
