    Who categorizes nitric acid with specific carats? Also I thought aqua regia was used for dissolving gold.

      The makers (chemists) of the gold testing kits make the proper amounts of nitric acid for each individual karat bottle by adjusting the strengths accordingly. Aqua regia is typically used in the gold refining process.

    Acid cant distinguish between say 80% or sterling

    • @kenmastersmaster
      @kenmastersmaster 2 месяца назад

      Or even 40% silver.... It dissolves the copper and leaves silver so technically anything will pass that has about half silver in it

      @kenmastersmaster good point but through experience you will notice that something that is say 40% silver will take more pressure to scratch board. High content silver will scratch like using chalk on a chalkboard if that makes sense?

    If the 14k is holding then it's obviously 14k, but your con is to use the 10k acid which will obviously hold as it is 14k. But claim it's definitely 10k. Once a scam artist... always a scam artist.

      It is just a demonstration depicting the various acids. If this were to be a clients ring, we would classify it as passing for 14kt gold, which it was stamped inside the ring as such; the 14kt acid confirmed that it indeed matches that hallmark.

      @@ciuwandy9238chronological order means sequentially with time. The narrator used the wrong term. He should have said "respective" instead.

      @@TheStreamerYT Thanks got clearing things up but OP’s comment was like wth because yes you see the result on the respective purity of the gold but OP misunderstood it. And the guy in the video meant from least to most pure gold in that *chronological* order. Respective is correct but in this context, chronologically makes more sense.

      Definitely will be missed by our family! Unfortunately, it could no longer stand the test of time due to squeaking loudly, heavily tilting over, along with its massive size was no longer practical or functional. Bittersweet send off for sure!
