    Is the seating position comfortable like in a regular SUV? (I mean if the seat is high in relation to the car’s floor, so that you sit with the legs bent at around 90 degrees.) Also are the pedals offset or right where the feet would naturally rest? Thank you!

    • @AndyT001
      @AndyT001 21 день назад

      That sounds about right - it's a high seating position but not quite like a van. I don't find the pedals offset, but a word of warning if you're looking for comfort - the ride quality is very unsettled compared to most modern cars so it's not the smoothest to travel in.

    I remember going to Scarborough as a kid with my Granny. Must of been 30 years ago. My Grans car broke down on the Hairpin and we had to call for someone to come and bring up water. There car broke down in the same place!! We had to call My Uncle lol! Cars used to overheat for fun on here! A lot different now, and shows how far cars have come. Speaking of which, I am looking at the same car as this 2015 plate. Have you had any issues with the car. I have heard bad things about the 1.4t 150bhp. Cheers

      @AndyT001 21 день назад

      What a situation! Wouldn't think twice about driving up a hill like that now, things have certainly changed. Not had any trouble with the 1.4T 150, mechanically the car's been fine so far after about 40,000 miles. Had a couple of problems with the electronics though - it's been through two touchscreens under warranty. Also had an issue with the clutch position sensor that prevented starting and involved taking the dash apart to replace.

    • @AndyT001

      It's well worth visiting, some of the best countryside and coastline in England and lots of history. The roads shouldn't be a problem, I drove the Lake District passes in a 1l VW without issue and they're a fair bit more challenging. Keep it in a low gear so you aren't losing momentum on the steep hills and you should be fine.

    Hey, did you end up selling your Jimny? I'm thinking of getting a 2017 model. Would you recommend it for someone looking for a fun daily driver, and for off road camping trips on the weekends?

    • @AndyT001
      @AndyT001 20 дней назад

      Still got it, just with one thing and another not had much opportunity to use it recently. More off road videos coming soon though. It's my second vehicle and I've daily driven it through winter in the past. If you're thinking of daily driving it, the fuel economy is pretty bad considering the performance - I only saw high 20s to the gallon, and while that was a commute with pretty dreadful traffic my other car would barely ever drop below 50. Saying that, it's great fun to drive in an old school way, much more involving than most regular modern cars. The handling can be a bit lively in the rain so the 2017 with stability control might be beneficial. For weekend off road trips they're been absolutely brilliant. Biggest limiting factor is ground clearance but mine's unmodified and being so small, you can often pick a different line and just avoid a major obstacle. Perfect size for narrow country roads and byways, I can honestly say I've often felt more confident driving it than a Defender without having to worry about it fitting down tight trails. Not had any major problems with reliability, just a bad alternator that could have happened to anything. If you're used to a regular car from the mid 2000s onwards it might be a bit unrefined as a daily driver, but if you can put up with the quirks I reckon you'll love it.

It got turbo lag and the engine isnt as robust as the petrol. the 1.3 Petrol is all in all the better engine, its lighter, power is better to dose, cheaper in tax (in germany) and the car drives better because 90kg lighter on the front axle (really feels lighter, steering is very different in both verions). Diesel is only good if you drive long distances, if not -> petrol better. And its good to have no turbo, the engine is made to drive in every country with every fuel, good or bad, in every situations no matter where you are. Whats it like on the motorway getting to these places miles away ? I presume sticking at 60mph its not revving much even in fifth.

      I'd say it's ok, 60 MPH is a bit over 3,000 RPM, 70's feels like more effort at almost 4k. Best fuel economy I've worked had from it was 38 MPG, mostly doing 60 on the motorway - not going to rival a diesel Panda 4x4, but cheaper to run than a Defender! The steering takes some getting used to at first, feels quite loose compared to most things I've driven and there's a lot of vibration through the wheel at about 40-45, but faster than this it settles down. They got pretty scathing reviews when new, but I've taken mine on several trips now and actually been pleasantly surprised by it, haven't found it too tiring on long runs.

      @@AndyT001 cheers for replying. I had the diesel Panda 4x4 and off road it was great but was very noisy on the motorway, revved higher than your car at 70 believe it or not. Shocking gear ratios, should have had a much longer fifth for motorways.
