Добавлен 20 мар 2019
Hello! Welcome to Carlings. I'm Jordan, and, in short, I like cars. So much in fact that I'm going to write about them, talk about them, and see what wonderful adventures they take me on. Join me in my upcoming talks, reviews, experiments, and project DIYs. Here I hope to bring together as many little Carlings* as possible and grow a community of curious car enthusiasts of all types in celebration of mankind's most fuelled passion.

I Bought My First Sports Car!
Who would've thought your mid-life crisis can come as early as your late 20s? That's where I found myself when one morning I came across a must-have example of a car I didn't even mean to find.
In true Carlings style, I've philosophised yet another concept of automotive adventure. At what point does a mode of transport break the boundaries of its main role to become an inducer of emotions, charm, and lifestyle? It's hard to argue that any kind of car does it better than the sportscar.
It's low, it's a convertible, it has two seats, and, most importantly, very red. Can you guess what it is before the big reveal?
Those following on Instagram have seen this a few times already. Keep up to date ...

Did You Know You Can Tune A Transmission?
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.Год назад
In the world of tuning, the engine is the golden child. When I decided I had the lust for more power, I was pleasantly surprised to learn there's tuning capabilities with an automatic transmission as well! Today, I share the knowledge I've learnt about the process, and talk about the basic operating principles behind what differences the tuning makes to the automatic slush-box-magic. Big thanks...
Every Broken Thing On My New Daily Driver... So Far.

I bought a little buzz box to save money and relieve my other (nicer) ride of some heavy mileage. A little while into daily nugget-ownership life, and there's plenty to share. If you've been on the fence about following my steps after the last video explaining my philosophies, here are some types of things you might expect to deal with along the way... I share more regular shenanigans on my Ins...
Buying A Cheap Car Is The BEST Thing I've Ever Done

Last video I talked about decommissioning my daily of 7 years. After some time in a total beater taking its place, I've come to a conclusion of my experience: It's amazing. I don't know why I waited so long to do this. Let me tell you all the reasons why. The Rise and Demise of Holden | Why Australia Turned Its Back On Their Most Iconic Car
Просмотров 29 тыс.2 года назад
"Australia's Own Car..." It's a powerful pitch to a country so unique, and indeed the tone was resonated throughout the population. Holden was top dog of Australia for decades, but it only took a few years to watch the nation's entire vehicle manufacturing industry fall from glory to total annihilation. Briefly after Holden's disappearance, the National Motor Museum opened an exhibition of the ...
Straight Pipes are VERY EFFECTIVE
Просмотров 2464 года назад
Out with the factory fun-police mufflers and in go some muffler deletes in the full force of a straight pipe. If you want some loudness quick, then look no further, but be warned, with a cheap upgrade comes another considerable price... Join my happy little adventure as I step into the shallows of car mods with none other than the classic Aussie weapon of choice, a V8 Commodore, and perhaps dis...
Are Sports Sedans Good For Anything?
Просмотров 5735 лет назад
When the world of family and performance vehicles collide, it seems like a concept along the lines of an oxymoron. They shouldn't belong with each other. But, is there something uniquely charming to the idea? Are sports sedans not good enough at anything, or are they the all-rounder that some might just be looking for? Carlings is out of hiatus after the blockbuster discussion on learners in 4W...
Are SUVs and 4WDs Bad Learner Cars?
Просмотров 1235 лет назад
As SUVs and 4WDs continue to grow as a dominant choice amongst consumers, it's certainly more likely that young learners will be taking their first steps in these seemingly over-sized vehicles. Being the bigger beats of the road, many often fear that they are too much to handle for beginners, and are often intimidated by the sight of a learner in a "potential weapon". So, as a debut piece, I th...
"I didn't quit... they quit on me" - Doc Hudson
High quality video for the amount of views/subs, keep up the good work!
I already have too many cars. I hate BMW as a brand. And now you got me wanting one. Goddammit.
I was getting ready to comment 'Every time a video is titled 'I bought a sports car' instead of the car's actual name, you know it's going to be a Miata.' Good stuff.
wonderful twist
I was originally hesitant to click on a video with only a couple hundred views but I have been pleasantly surprised. Fantastic video and quality, and very informative, keep it up man. Subscribed.
😮
Z3 and mx-5 are like same class or size, but I say this off the top off my mind that the Z3 probably has higher power with higher petrol consumption in the same generation mx-5(im assuming).Magnificent car, definitely would drive one if I'm ever lucky enough.Great video.
Beauty 😍 hopefully it came with kidney grilles and not kidney stone grilles
This is a fantastic video. You have modified this Commodore very tastefully. Would you be able to put a list of the mods somewhere? Exhaust, cold air intake etc. Excellent stuff 👌
Thank you! I really wanted to keep it simple and sweet. Mods are as far as X-Force 2.5" exhaust with 1 5/8" headers, Harrop OTR intake with MAF, engine tune and more recently some SL King Springs.
Keen to try this
GREAT drop, enjoyed it and I Thank You!!
Couldn't click fast enough
The VE Commodore was imported to North America and sold as a Pontiac G8. The best Pontiac in a long time. In 2010, GM of Detroit canceled Pontiac brand. Sadly, it couldn't save a classic American brand either.
Imagine cheering the demise of your job and workplace.
A mix of government and management. Detroit management that was too interfering? Seems so. They want to cheapskate and have world car platforms. Note of those European takeover of the old GM brands are doing well now? Sad. Sad there's no more Aussie Ford. Too much to restart holden as your own gig?
Disgusting and criminal....politicians let all our manufacturing go to Asia, now high crime and unemployment
Holden used to export L/H cars up until HQ. No money left for engineering a L/H model after the completely new HQ body in 7 different versions. LAST aussie design. Kraut dunnydores from then on. 9:44
Quality upload as always 🙌🏼
Perfect for the excel state racing series
Me: Forgets Carlings exists Carlings: *Uploads video*
the Day Peter Hanenberger left holden was the end. The Americans took it back and ruined the brand.
Simply...Australians...and the World no longer wanted Big Family Bogan Wagons (Commodore)...especially 100k ones like HSV's...I saw the writing on the wall for Holden in the late 80s and early 90s if Holden didn't move with the times...they would FAIL...And they did
Can I get that license plate on the Holden Cruz. Useful as a bit of advertising…..for someone like me.
It's taxes, and we pay far more than just 10% GST. You see here in Australia we tax stack, for example if we make a car tyre the rubber, kevlar and steel makers must all pay GST on the sale of these items, they pass this cost to the manufacturer then the Australian manufacturer makes the tyre, sells it to the wholesaler and charges GST, plus the price mark up from the raw goods supplier. Finally they sell to the retailer charging GST and the price mark up for the extra costs of everything else. Finally the consumer buys the tyre and they are indirectly paying the kevlar, steel, rubber, manufacturers, wholesalers GST, then of course the 10% GST on the item, that is why stuff costs so much, not to mention the massive taxes on the diesel for the trucks that move these goods. That example is just one tyre, how many different goods go into a car? Towards the end of Holden's life, a new Holden cost as much as a low level BMW or Mercedes, and did not have even half the luxury. No one wanted a Holden. How we could have saved Holden: we should have marketed the Holden Ute to the US under the El Camino badge. The Americans have been screaming out for a new El Camino since 1987 when they ceased production.
The Chevrolet cruzes in america are absolute Garbage. You fix one coolant leak and one starts somewhere else. I am American but I don't buy American cars anymore. The Car companies here are lazy and cheap and only want to rebadge something or build it in Mexico. Gm's Trucks are good, interiors are garbage across the board and the cars are pitiful. Dodge's are pretty awful they are throw away cars. The absolute worst is Ford. I didn't grow up a Chevy person, I have owned lile 50 cars of all types of brands. I did't hate Ford until I started working on them. I will walk before I own a Ford. I could write a book on their stupidity and the people that own them get bent over by them and just keep asking for more. I will say when we got your Holden rebadged as a GTO I could tell that they were made better and the materials were nicer. I always looked at the first VIN number to see what country it was made in and all the ones that had 6 were made better.
I was given a Ford econoline van in the US. Several years old. Working on it was like sticking your hands into a grinding machine. Always bit back hard. Eventually the front frame and chassis had severe rust and missing sections of steel. Never touched a ford since.
@@jayjaynella4539 i was putting a water pump on a Ford 3.7 today, Its a 10 hour job, For a water pump!
I never lived in Australia but this makes me cry
i believe it's pronounced "gasketo"
Ausie cars are brilliant and they are very good for lasting quality and speed
The Efijy is a pretty slick looking car. GM brought the Monaro and Commodore to N/A as the Pontiac GTO and G8 but not for long. The bail out of 2008 brought the axe down on the Pontiac division.
Turned out backs????? ALL CAR MANUFACTURERS WENT UNDER IN AUSTRALIA. no Holden fan turned their backs.
Bro that video got me so sad, that GM di that to such a great car.

Good video brother. You really could make a successful career out of this if you got more active with uploads.
I keeo coming across this channel but you have barely any suscribers. Absolutely annoys me. Your content is No BS
It was Nissan first, Mitisibishi, Ford , Holden & Toyota was last to announce. The ignorance of Abbott & Hockey who got their information from the Productivity Commission. A poorly researched video,
nice vid mate RIP Holden
Bought a $700 Magna last year and drive it an hour each way to work. Never missed a beat. After a lifetime of cool Falcons and Valiants I couldn’t give a sh*t any more

Why is a American company an Australian icon
Haha the billion dollar baby failure of the VE lol, the most undesirable (australian) commodore ever made. i have a ve ss as my daily and the breathtakingly beautiful VZ SS 6.0 sleeping away in my garage that comes out a few times per year.
Not quite the Demise my ute has grunt and reliable as long distance the nullarbor
pffffffff Ford is an international car manufacturing giant, Holden was a subcidery of GM, GM needed a life line from u.s government, and now GM has changed its name, Ford stood on its own 2 feet , Holden is DEAD , ford Australia is still alive , just far smaller, Ford ranger Australia and new Zealand number 1 selling vehicle for many years,
4:08 Water expansion tank is a common fault on ALL GM cars.
Me too ... Holden for life!!!! Holden is in my blood, I call my Blood group Type H
