Nara, Japan - Surreal experience - and a bit disappointing to witness bad tourist behaviour. Ug.
We loved Nara - the park is beautiful and worth visiting if you are in the Golden Triangle area (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima). We loved our traditional Japanese stay at "Nara House." See link below. Unfortunately, once we got into the entrance of Nara Park, we found the crowds a bit too crowded and not well-behaved. I witnessed people feeding garbage to the deer (which I told them to stop), screaming at the deer, and hitting the deer. I also saw the deer bite (more of a little nibble) of someone who had a bunch of crackers and wouldn't give them away. I could understand if the people living in Nara were frustrated with the tourists, although I am sure it brings them money too and not e...

IItoshima (糸島市, Itoshima-shi) is located in western Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. We stayed at a traditional Japanese home in a village called Nagita, and we toured the entire area with provided bikes. This was an experience I'll never forget - We were at the most northern city on Honshu (main Japan island) - to experience the Resort Train - Gono Line. The best 4.5 hours are spent travelling through the countryside and along the coast. This was a very worthwhile two-day onsen visit-even in the middle of the summer. We spent two days in this onsen town in Nagano, Prefecture. We stayed at a traditional Ryokan and loved every second of it-the meals and the hot springs. Albufeira is god out of the summer. Mertola is an old mourish village, and very beautiful but very quiet. Olhão is one of the best places to eat seafood. Lisbon is my birth city, lots of light and friendly people. Lagos is the second best beautiful city on Algarve, the queen is Tavira. Sintra is amazing but too crowded in the summer, winter is the best time to visit the monuments. Porto is my favorite city in Portugal, to eat is top.

Am also planning a trip to Greece in August. Always wanted to travel but specifically to Sparta so this vid was great to watch and get an idea of what to expect/look at.

Great video. Can you tell me how long it took you to drive from La Fortuna to Monteverde? We'll be doing it in February.
We took about 6-7 hours (maybe even more). Most of the main roads were good - however, once you start climbing up - I found it slowed down! I also wanted to stop and enjoy some of the sights (swimming in hot springs, lunch, etc.). I hope you enjoy it when you go.

I can relate. Was there NW of Lake Arenal Dec 8-18/23. Hit a YUGE pothole at night on a corner...no time to avoid. Thankfully the Toyota Rav 4 tires & suspension did GR8!! No damage. I would not say costa rica is a third world country but it's so definitely somewhere in the 2's as far as the roads go. Remember aim for the little ones so you miss the big ones. Thanks for sharing.That was a killer view from the place.You stayed at andcredible that you could see all the way to the coast.

Porto is AMAZING!!!! Been there 5 times. Guys don't forget about the 50 Euro monthly national rail pass. It's a fantastic deal. You can travel within the whole of Portugal for 50 euros a month. Save yourselves some money :) Great video btw

My wife And I were in CR probably at the same time as you and in fact we drove from La Fortuna to Monteverde as you did and we ALSO went to the same National park in Monteverde. What are the strip clubs like on average?
The only stripping you'll be getting there is stripping cork off the trees. If strippers are all you're interested in you go to Eastern Europe.
Was good to ride along and see how you negotiated and problem-solved. I'm glad that you mentioned driving in different gears ; it's been a minute since I drove a stick, but think it would come back to me once I got behind the wheel when I visit CR in April! Thank you!
Thanks for chiming in Martin. I definitely recognized my privilege - living in a country/city with very "easy" driving/travelling conditions - good infrastructure. Once I finally realized I should drive in 1st/2nd up non-negotiable hills... things went much better. :) Sounds like you also have a travel bug.
