Rulmeca Dual Drive Eliminates Belt Bounce
Просмотров 20428 дней назад
This video shows how two Rulmeca Motorized Pulleys in a dual drive configuration solved the problems of inadequate installed power and belt bounce at a cement plant in the United States. It also explains how these compact, internally powered, drives simplified the conversion from a single to a dual conveyor drive system. Built in 1960 and expanded in 1978, this cement plant struggled with two o...

This video explains how two Rulmeca Motorized Pulleys can increase installed power on an existing bulk handling belt conveyor and why the addition of another drive pulley (to increase "belt wrap angle") can possibly reduce required slack side tension in a conveyor belt. It states that reduced slack side tension can translate to reduced total tension, enabling operators to extend belt life and p...

    Very much appreciated the for the good design and the behavior of the materials that feeding the entire conveyor system. This preview helps to inter act with the maintenance that will work on that specific design. Hence what we can only predict after this kind of design is installed in many kind industrial process lies with in the person that will assign to work with the equipment. Innovation is more than a commitment when we go for a long term productivity and efficiency of the equipent. Its really a great help to recap birds eye view of the design and movement of this kind of design conveyors as you go along your way in maintaining the equipment run effecient and looking for less maintenance.

      Your question cannot be answered until you specify a belt speed at which the material will be carried. 1 watt = 1 newton-meter per second. Once you calculate the required tension (newtons) to pull the belt you must multiply that force by the desired belt speed (m/s). For example, a 5 km long horizontal conveyor carrying 3000mt/hr might have a belt speed of 5 m/s. If belt pull = 222 kilo newtons, then required electric power will be approximately 222 kN x 5 m/s = 1,110 kW.

    Thanks. How/why do you have gravity pull as (load/ft) * h? Hmmm... I'm calculating.... I would use (sin 17.46) (250) = 75#. Same as you. But why is it also (load/ft) * h? Appreciate your help. EDIT: And if you don't mind, another question. Let's say the conveyor stops fully loaded. What is power required to get it going again? I'm assuming there must be a ramp-up time to go from 0 to 50 ft/min. So this would be the power to accelerate the total mass? I'm writing a continuing education engineering course. I studied this subject 60 years ago! Bill

    • @rulmecacorporation4596

      Hi Bill. You could use trigonometry, but the result will be exactly the same since the belt pull required to overcome gravity is linearly proportional to the change in elevation. Rather than provide a complete "derivation" I simply showed the accurate short cut method we use to calculate the force.

    what should be the skirt design criteria if there are two chutes on a conveyor belt. The material passing out of one chute may hit the skirt of ahead chute.

    • @mikegawinski3450
      @mikegawinski3450 Год назад

      The calculation is straightforward. You simply make the calculation as is the chute were continuous. In other words, if the first skirt is 3 meters long and the second skirt is 3 meters long, you simply use 6 meters as the skirtboard length. This will yield the appropriate estimate of total skirtboard drag.

    You calculated the mechanical power is required, but does that mechanical power equal to the electrical power of the motor which will drive the belt ? in the case of calculation P=0.15KW , so in this case i will use an AC motor with a power at least of 0.15 KW to move all those weights ?

      We have some videos explaining the relationship between calculated required mechanical power and suggested electrical power. Did you watch them yet?
