Simply better scuba. Avelo brings a new discipline to scuba diving.
The Avelo System is an open-circuit diving system where the buoyancy control device is the tank itself.
It consists of two components, the Jetpack and the Hydrotank. The Hydrotank is a lightweight carbon fiber cylinder that contains a bladder filled with your breathing gas. The battery on the Jetpack powers a pump that adds water to the Hydrotank. When you add water to the Hydrotank you become heavier and when you purge water you become lighter. The Avelo System is nearly half the weight of standard scuba and redefines your diving experience by providing perfect, stable neutral buoyancy.
The Recreational Avelo Diver (RAD) specialty course teaches everything you need to learn to dive the Avelo System. Any open-water certified diver that is 12 years old or older may join this course.

Any advice on learning about this system is appreciated. I see that I have to become scuba certified before I can be Avelo certified, correct? Could you elaborate why that is a requirement? And once certified, where can divers rent Avelo equipment? Thanks 😊
This is pretty incredible. I am a completely new interested diver, love being free swimming underwater but always deterred from learning scuba diving because I didn't like the idea of heavy equipment and technicalities. And just when I told myself I should learn scuba and give it a try, I became aware of this...excited to be a diver while this revolutionary system is available!! We're so excited that Avelo can help you discover your adventure in the underwater world! We created the Avelo System precisely to improve the dive experience by making it lightweight and safer. Diving Avelo is a new discipline in diving currently offered as secondary training (specialty) to train divers to use the system. The current entry-level dive course begins with standard scuba and is known as Open Water. It introduces all the concepts relating to breathing underwater and what that means physiologically. This includes concepts such as equalization and decompression management. Our Recreational Avelo Diver is a one-day specialty course that can be taken immediately following your Open Water training. Chelsea at Catalina Divers Supply is an amazing instructor who can teach you how to breathe underwater and then use the Avelo System to enjoy lightweight equipment with the freedom to enjoy perfect neutral buoyancy at all depths. Once certified, the Avelo System is available at any Avelo Dive Center and can be rented from them as a short or long-term rental to dive anywhere else. Liz Parkinson here, looks different than how I've seen her in the Bahamas, swimming or scuba diving in shark infested waters. That almost like Catalina Island for where she is seen scuba diving in video, or it it Catalina island. Where else is there a shore with a star step the diving area in the water? Is there anymore to this prerecorded or documentary video?

So when are we going to be able to buy one? You have TONS of people ready to buy them. The demand is there. You can even start taking deposits to fund the upfront cost. Unless you plan on licensing this tech, why haven’t we heard on when we can buy them?
Hello. The equipment is now sold through any of our Avelo Dive Centers and you can purchase everything except for the Hydrotanks from them. The Hydrotanks are available either as a short or long term rental from the various Avelo Dive Centers for the time being. For more details, contact an Avelo Dive Center near you.

I wonder how much force the air bladder is putting on the carbon fiber tank?
