honestly thought it was about the actress anne hathaway
There's something quite cool about having the same name as Shakespeare's wife - there are far worse people in history to share a name with!
Excellent critical work. Pleasant to listen to, as well! Thank you very much. I also love this poem. I teach it to my students. :-)
Thank you for the kind words! :-)
Thank you for your in-depth analysis. I've performed this poem several times (it's one of my favourites) and I never actually pinned down the blanching as making white. Of course!! And I like to think of Cleopatra's barge with the burnished throne. Yes, it is sad, although perhaps before watching this I thought of her as being selfish and angry rather than appreciating her enormous loss. After a performance a friend gave me a pottery pear which she had made, painted gold.
Thank you for the kind words! I agree that she is angry, too - but I've just recently seen the quotation (I think from C.S. Lewis) "I sat with my anger for a long time, and eventually she told me that her true name was grief". I may have misquoted, but the gist is right - and I think so true of what Duffy captures here. Just watched your Mrs Faust - brava!!
at 7:18 where exactly is the feminine rhyme?
It doesn't occur in the poem, but she is listing literary techniques as metaphors for their lovemaking, so the feminine body being the "softer rhyme to his" can be interpreted as an allusion to feminine rhyme, (which is a literary device where the unstressed syllable rhymes, called feminine precisely because it is perceived as softer than rhyming the stressed syllables) which then fits into the list of literary devices along with echo, assonance, nouns and verbs. I hope that makes sense!
thanks got my gcse in an hour 🫥
Can u send me the summary of this please
Sorry - I don't have a shorter version. If you're studying it, making your own summary would be great revision though.

Thank you very much, Rachel. This has been very helpful in preparing for my upcoming essay. Keep up the great work 👍
the mere fact that the hangman's victims arm is coupled with a dagger and the rope to hang ones self are buried in the sand for tide and time to take care....says the witches are manifesting destinies...Of course choices must be made and they again by subtle suggestion and conveyance steer the hapless mortal man..
Thanks got to debate tmrw 🤞
Good luck!
Amazing analysis, loved it .
My prelim is tomorrow let’s see if this works
Thank you ma'am
i think the auto tune would be much suited for this job,, let alone the actual voice.

lovely interpretation!
how would you answer an 8 marker on a moment in time with winter infront of you? thanks for the video btw!!
The other Morgan poems on the set text list are: Trio, In the Snack-bar, Good Friday, Glasgow Sonnet I, Glasgow 5 March 1971, so as fas as SQA are concerned, those are the ones you should be using to answer the "other poem by Morgan that you have studied" part of the question. Does that help?
What about if the 8 marker is on one story and you have to talk about only that
Is your Scottish text the Crichton-Smith short stories? If so, treat the "E" in CEO as the extract in front of you (because you won't get the whole story) and then treat the "O" as the rest of the story - ie not the bit that's in front of you. Hope that helps?
AAAAAAA have my N5 exam tomorrow
Hope it went well!

Glad it was helpful!
A surprise for me that "Anon" is not really specified. Our teacher told us it was a monkey.
Anon just means 'soon'. The closest we have to a clue as to what the familiar was, is when she calls it 'Harpier' and says it 'cries' later in the play. Harpies are half human/half bird, so I tend to think it was probably an owl, but Shakespeare doesn't say, so your teacher's analysis might be just as valid as mine! The most common familiars were cats, toads and owls - (a convention JK Rowling follows.) Monkeys tended to be expensive pets for the rich - in "The Merchant of Venice", Jessica trades a ring she stole from her father for a monkey. I tend not to think of the witches as rich, especially when they beg for food, so a monkey would be surprising, but not impossible.
Dear Rachel, thank you so much for your food for thoughts. I didn't consider that indeed monkeys were expensive pets those days and, of course, when I think about all these conditions I would doubt it now that 'Anon' was a monkey.
Doesn't it means "soon"
whats with the music?, not needed.
It is also available without the music here, if you prefer: ruclips.net/video/k_wWQVasMOQ/видео.html
