Tell Gotz that Sigmund says he's looking good. Tell him also to get his arse back home, a certain gladiator wishes to see what tricks he learned while on the other side of the country.
Lohac, right? My first thought was that's awful green for Christmas.
@@gozer87 yea, lochac We have green and 40c Christmas's
Hiya As. Our pass at the 22min mark, you do an awesome offside body cut which didn't stick as it should have. We need to workshop that one and the timing was spot on.
Where did you get that shield?
@@drock55551 I got from a local metal spinner
@Asodius do you remember roughly what it cost at the time? I'd love to get one.
@@drock55551 i dont, but if your in Australia or victoria i would be happy to sell it
@@Asodius damn, I'm in california.
nice day for it
wow
nice
Who is fighting Cormac?
Thats Gotz, a recent import from up north(i think)
Who is Christopher fighting?
'promosm'
Huh?
Great to see new bods in kit. Look forward to catching up post covid.
Thanks for filming! This bout was actually HRM vs Don Everard, for Sir Throlf though.
thank you, that's what happens when i do the notes at the end of the day
Note to the crew. We need to break down the pass at the 5.30ish mark. S&B grounded vs glaive. Workshop hand position on glaive (more central) while closing and in close.
Helm fails at about 23.05-23.10 mark
yea, you can hear the rivet head go tick tick off the floor just after the hit too
5.10-5.15 Awesome display of targeting behind your opponents timing.
yea thats a really fine opening too
Where you guys from? Was that a lochac accent?
yea, lochac, krea glass
What happened at 14:00? Cormac threw himself off balance or something else?
I hooked the top of his shield with my guard and he kinda came with it
It’s nice to see my family in the title.
Why not fight with swords?
LieorDie24 we use Rattan for a lot of reasons The main being we can hit really hard wit relitive safety Cost and availability is another factor And tradition, the SCA has been using Rattan for 50+ years
Oh i see i have a sword and im going to buy a full plate soon wher are you guys from my hobby is flying my drone photograpy and it would be great making a movie from above
LieorDie24 check us out SCA.org Get your plate made for you and fitted to you
Apologies for standing in front of the camera but I didn’t know it was there to begin with.
One thing everyone is forgetting is that the Spartans would train for hours every day with their sheilds and one training exercise was they would line up and take turns ramming a tree with their sheilds and wouldn't leave until they uprooted the tree they were strong and used to their weapons we are very soft today compared to these men
Tom Worth I don't think that makes any difference to this point The issue in trying to highlight is that the body mechanics for a sheild strike from an Aspis or hoplon is different to that of a centre grip and this method is better for that than what Thrand demonstrated
I feel like hoplites would be very confused about why you are punching with a shield instead of using a spear?
I don't really disagree, and with something as heavy as a real aspis it's probably your better bet, but I suppose the issue as Thrand brought up is that the real thing, being probably within 10-14 pounds (4-6kg), just isn't so practical to strike with in that way. Maybe if you'd been disarmed but still had your shield, perhaps.
Temenos Lykourgos Absolutely, I think I comes down to it IF your going to hit someone with this type of shield its more likely and more effective to do it this way
I love how my banner is a total arsehole and keeps jumping into frame :)

Watching the shot at 2:02 in the video, it seemed to spend a lot of energy thumping the shield.
Colm Kiely yea, there's another close one where he gets gauntlet instead of help was a very close fight
Ah, at 2:01? Yeah, you blocked those two head shots. Looks like you guys were having a great time.
Squire Tristan I think
thanks
The second bout you focus on looks like Brion of Bellatrix (two sticks) and Semeon Aleksandrovich Dragon (in the Rowany Tabard)
Thank you very much, i'm horrible with names
Dope
not a bad video but is your shield wooden or just a piece of brass? because the weight and material maters.
the scarecrow it's aluminium, about 3.5 kg
well thats actaully half the weight of a real one, but a real heavy one ,most of them would be 5-7 kilos
absolutely, I simply don't have the strength for something that heavy to be practical for me. The extra weight would probably lend itself to this method of shield strike though
@@Asodius where did you get that thing?
@@Asodius how heavy is it compared to the wooden ones though? Because the full bronze covering wasn't that common
This is Thrand! Great video will test out your theory in a later video!
Kolgríma Hrafnsdóttir
My shield is a bit more dangerous when it has Duke Erik behind it :)
a little less after harrier 'sheildsbane' is done ruclips.net/video/1-Pje0Lzg64/видео.html
