SIEGIFRIED HEER GIVES US A LOOK AT THE FIRST ROTAX 912 POWERED AIRCRAFT!
This has to be one of the most interesting and totally off script interviews yet. I love Siegi! I am not kidding when I say he has to m=be one of the smartest people I know, but so humble. His passion and dedication to all things flying knows no bounds. So when you get a chance to go to Wels, Austria, be sure to stop by the Flying Club there and spend some time flying some Rotax history!

The start of a really quick series asking the simple question - Why Rotax? You hear the hype, but we wanted to hear from the owners themselves. Charl had just flown his S1 Outbound from Canada to Oshkosh for the first time. We were also blessed to be able to have a longer more detailed video about his baby - so stay tuned for that.

The aircraft you are looking at is about 20 years old. It has been Dan's passion (yes he has other aircraft as well) and pride for all that time. During the installation and in they year's that followed, the aircraft has evolved. It now is now simplified, strengthened and has some unexpected features. In our opinion this is the ultimate way to start flying and experience all they joy and freedo...

I loved Linda's story. She is an awesome, knowledgeable person. Her aviation journey is a inspiring awesome one. She puts in the work to get all the things she wants. Congratulations Linda. The only criticism I have, is the videographer consistently interrupted Linda's story, instead of letting her tell her story, he kept commenting, making it difficult to watch at times. Outside of that it was an excellent story.
Is the Rotax firewall kit ready for purchase for new RV 9A kits?
I have literally flown this very plane at Jet Access. N447JA. They are pretty awesome light sport planes. The only issue is it takes forever to get parts because they are manufactured in the Czech Republic. Many flight schools are going away from them because planes are down for a long time.
seems to me the extra HP from the 912 doesn't out weigh the weight of it IMO the better engine would be a 2 stroke lighter engine.
So far of all these new MOSAIC-destined aircraft this is my favorite. But with the significant cost difference over a Shark, I'm finding it hard to justify the extra expense.
You need a sock on your microphone to eliminate the wind noise. Very subprofessional.
It’s great to see an experienced and talented aviator, such as Linda, taking the time to share her thoughts in a detailed and engaging manner. Great video!
Great intro to a lovely looking plane.
Wow! I loved listening to Linda's story, but the constant interruptions were so distracting.
Siegi is one of a kind. With his personality, he is the best ambassador for aviation and his beloved Rotax engines. In our club, Weiße Möwe Wels, he has been a key pillar for over two decades.
Awesome career and way to make your dreams come true 💓
I love Siegi also. We have heard of "horse whisperers" and the like. Sigi is the "aircraft sniffer", got to love such enthusiasm and love of aircraft.
If he said, you can dive down from any altitude at a steep decent without shock cooling, I would have been a whole lot more impressed.
No de-icing/anti-icing systems? Lovely aircraft, best regards from Portugal
"No de-icing/anti-icing systems?" LSA aircraft. What were you thinking?
Can this hold 2 full grown adults at 430 pounds + fuel?
She says Rotax is the most reliable engine... Lycoming chuckles.
Linda is an incredible person and I've always wanted to know more of her story, thank you so much for sharing :)
What an amazing woman. Such an inspiration. Gonna but a Highwing tailwheel now. Lekker!
wayyyyy overpriced. $84.000 fully built. Plus it it made in China. Nice plane but big rip off.
I doubt they are getting rich. Your angst is because you can't afford it.
Wonderful story. Linda so ‘glass-half-full’ about everything. Great energy and inspiring technical smarts. Thank you.
Nice plane but the useful load is just to low
Useful load with the 141 horsepower engine is 440 !! Cmon that’s a deal breaker unless tattoo and billy barty are flying
You should ask them what MTOW they fly this at in Brazil. They are prepped for Mosaic.
You interrupt too much. Let her talk.
I love the video. Thank you! Please, don’t interrupt as much.
I detetect an Americanised South African accent & it's not Linda's, despite the amount of time she spent in the country.
Super aircraft
There is so little information or videos on this aircraft it's a shame.....its an absolutely incredible aircraft. You need a video showing what it can do....cruise, top speed 10 gal / hr at 15,000 - 17,000 ft. Hard turns, etc... People would buy this for the performance but you don't ever get to see it.
Truth. I'm checking if this is still in production 😂
LSA??
Yep
Linda is Emilia Earheart II
She seems like a nice lady and I love her airplane but Emilia didn’t let anyone tell her she couldn’t fly in the 30’s.
All this effort would yield more speed in an RV7 or 8, no?
The 9’s high(er) aspect ratio wing is the only one that can fly high enough to really take advantage of the turbo for better TAS.
@@k5sss Altitude/climb is a function of excess energy, so more than just airframe eff. The long wing is nice but not a driver. My pt was the Vne of the 9 is 20kts lower TAS. So not ideal.
Hi Susan, I just saw you go overhead (not exactly--a little out of my view but I saw you on the ads b exchange). Very cool. Good luck with the Bruins (and nothing to worry about with the Celtics it seems). Down here in NJ
Putting up some pretty amazing numbers according to Flightaware 👍🏻👍🏻
How fast? Vne is 30mph lower than a normal Vans
Je to DEMENTNÍ OPICE KTERÁ ZA VOLANTEM SVÉHO PORSHE PŘEJELA NA CHODNÍKU MAMINKU I S KOČÁRKÉM!!!
All i find is peak HP WHERE can i find RPM TO HP Graphs for 912 915 916 like what is HP at 4000rpm 4500rpm etc.
Is this the man who nearly killed a mother and a 2 years old baby driving his Porsche in Prague recently???
Asi debil sežral moc banánů a pak z pohledu opice už neměl na silnici co pohledávat!!!
Not a great review, you didn’t show very much of the whole aircraft. Stop talking over the guy.
Like the planes from thirt countries everything irrelevant is important. Wings seems to have a wery thin aifoils not good for training 23012 again.
how about showing the actual airplane exterior?????????????????
What is the cost of this bird?
$145,000 fully loaded as per the website
I can see right now, that just like the Cessna 177 Cardinal, there will need to be 'braces' on the doors to prevent the wind from blowing the doors open too quickly and damaging the frames and forword skin of the plane. Hope this gets addressed asap.
The hinge that we use doesn’t permit that the door hit in the airframe. It is so strong and the door stays 90° w/ the structure.
What does the aircraft look like?
Can the RV 9 be a tail wheel without any problems? This particular RV originally was configured as a taildragger prior to the Rotax installation.
Absolutely wonderful video. Thank you both very much for sharing it.
Hi Kevin, it is always amazing chatting with Linda. Her fantastic adventures and personal drive, humble us!
When you interview someone about his plane, Instead of spending almost all of the time filming him, spend a lot of of the time that he is talking viewing the aircraft from all angles. In this video we got about 13 minutes seeing him talking and you never got around to really showing the outside of the aircraft. It isn't about making the company representative a star. It's about showing the aircraft. One example of this is the horizontal tail surfaces. They seemed to be angled downward unless this is just an optical illusion. This is a very unusual aspect of the design. If you did a walkaround, he could have discussed this.
Hi John, we will make sure to do a good follow up at Osh!
They do indeed have anhedral on the horizontal stab. It keeps them functional (in clean air) during various maneuvering. Saw this explained in another video.
Great information. Looks like some fun.
Thank you
I would to see this guy in either seat I was a factory test pilot if I remember correctly there was also another plane built alongside that one with the same color scheme
Factory built plane by Bernardo
Why they o ly sell in a kit to build? The check build a better amphibian I think.
Muchas gracias asido un video muy ilustrativo el Sr instructor Muy extenso en su exposición se nota que ama su profesión un saludo desde España Andalucía 👏🏻👏🏻👍👍
still don't know what it looks like!!!!!!!
