We decided to try and buy dinner for 4 using Too Good To Go. We revisit a merchant that we enjoyed and tried a few others too! Remember, assume you won't have parking if you're picking anything up in Chinatown!

This is about my generic qi charger that I got from eBay. It was very cheap, at less than $15. Let me know if you have any questions!

How much did you pay for the last item? The chicken, rice and cabbage?

If I remember correctly, I think it was $5, maybe $4

You might find better value in the actual dumpster lol

Are you guys still using the app? I wonder if this is good for me and 2 young kids, do worry about spoiled food/ food safety?

We still check it sporadically but the offerings are slimmer than before. Not sure why that is, but I think it's still worth trying if it's convenient for you. As far as restaurant food, I don't think there's much to worry about. I've only ever had questionable produce from one market

Do you pay for it through the app? Do you tip?

    • @FishAnotherDay
      @FishAnotherDay 3 года назад

Payment is entirely through the app. No option for tipping in the app. However, you can always tip when you're picking up the food with cash if you want

what @mark said ^^ ... bruised, elderly veggies hardly worth the effort, unless making a big family meal in the short term ... funky potatoes and freckled banana were acceptable (TooGood2Go: 8/6/21, $5.99, El Ranchito Market, Oakland)

Yeah we got 5 pounds of bananas with some cereal and 2 gallons of milk for about $4 once. Very good value. Very hard to eat that many bananas😂

This app must be blowing up. I never see anything to get on the app. Everything is always sold out. This is in SF too. What's the strategy to actually get something.

Sorry for the late reply. Certain popular places sell out extremely quickly. For example, we bought Mama's (brunch place by Washington Square) only after noticing they sell out minutes after putting up their deal. It was usually offered starting around 2pm the day prior so we would stalk their page and refresh until it came up. Their food was just ok. Probably wouldn't go for them again to be honest

It would seem that value wise food is way better than produce

I felt the same way. We've had a couple misses on food but for the most part, we thought the food purchases were decent value

First thing, your doggies are cute! 🐶🐶🥰🥰 I also decided to go to Go Duck Yourself and I got the same 燒肉 and rice dish! It’s a working person’s meal but it’s pretty decent for the price. I noticed another person who vlogged going to House of Dim Sum and they didn’t get their order at all. I think they also had a language barrier since they’re not Chinese so it may have been the issue. I am concerned also that they have tons of leftover foods on the app so not sure what happened there. Don’t go to Foudue Chinoise!!! I got maybe this one fried mystery meat (I think it’s pork, but it’s mostly fried batter and that’s IT!!! I wouldn’t go back there again.

Thank you! I love my dogs😅 Yup most definitely a working person's meal. My parents are very traditional in their tastes, and they would not have liked it (they want the fattier cuts of roast pork). Regarding the language barrier, I can definitely believe it. I went to an Indian place once and the guy there didn't have a clue what I was doing, nor could we understand each other. I ended up calling into the shop's phone number to get someone to get the ball rolling.

I used to go to Yoyo's back when I was working around there. I know the husband and wife owners for a long time. For the price, it's pretty darn good! On Mondays and Tuesdays, they also have a curry dish that’s a bit spicy but still great!!! If I was working on that area again, I would definitely go back to them!!! 💖

Thanks for watching! Honestly it's not always going to be a win. I guess there's the fun of the mystery but sometimes you don't get what you're hoping for. I have a couple more of these videos in the making currently so stay tuned!

@@johnaiyappan2075 sorry didn't realize this question was here. The available offerings now are much less than 2 months ago it seems. If you can find them available still, Hawker Alley was always a score for us
