​@TheFirefighterdude2 Wow. I cannot imagine how much work must have gone into getting to that point, especially with an engine that's probably been horsepowered to death by the NHRA. Does that combo make it a "natural" D car, or did you add or subtract weight to go up or down one class?

@DortonFarb they've left the class alone for a long time. With this new automatic hp system they started using this year. The combo did get hit. I think for 5 lbs. I'm heavy so I don't check.lol. it is a natural D car. It was an A in 66. But when the z28's and big blocks came out. The definitely push the combo down.

@TheFirefighterdude2 Automatic horsepower? Is that like the CIC thing in Comp? I've never owned a class car, and I've moved on to other motorsports disciplines, so I'm not as familiar with things as I should be. Occasionally I scan the NHRA Stock classification guides, indexes, records, and so on, looking for "soft" combos. I was looking at the 2.3 4-cylinder Ecoboost Mustang at one point. They're a natural J car, that can go up to I or down to K. The 310 horsepower turbo engine has tremendous potential, yet is factored by NHRA at only 264 horsepower. I think the combo has the potential to go WAY under, with a completely stock engine, with nothing more than a catless open downpipe and a tune (probably in an aftermarket engine management system for consistency).

@@DortonFarb yes very similar to cic. But the index does change during the race. Comp is a cool class.

Hi. I run in NHRA stock eliminator. So i still have to run the flat tappet cam. We are allowed to use solid lifters now. We broke the engine in on Maxima break-in oil. And i run 30/10 syn. Hi Thomas. I built them. I watched this series of videos. And practiced on scrap pieces. Watch his header flange to tubing technique. And i bought my materials from performance tube bending. This run was a 10.61@122. We went 10.39 last summer. The engine is a L-79 327-350 hp. NHRA rates it at 292. Stock spec's. 30 over 11:1, .447 lift 282 duration (no limit on duration). Heads are 202 160 like yours. 600 vac secondary dual plane manifold. Brian Tilburg does all the engine work. He's a wizard with the valve train, and piston rings. PAC valve springs. In good air it goes through the traps @ 8200. Caltrac, Moser rear with a 5.38. G-Force trans, Mcleod 10" soft lock.

We have no limitation on duration. 282 .050 to .050. But stock .447 lift.

@@TheFirefighterdude2 Custom grind for the duration Im assuming? I might get clay smith to do one for my 283 but I'm trying to do something like the TP147 .471/.488 Lift Duration @.50 is 257 270.

Yes, a custom grind. I was running a Competion Cams grind. .447 lift 278@050. The cam guy there was Christopher Paget competition cams. We just had 1 made by Bullet Cams. I believe Chris work for them now. Its a nice piece. They can definitely steer you in the right direction.

Yes. A L-79 327/350hp. Stock eliminator specs. 11:1 2.02 head, 600 vac secondary. .447 lift cam. PAC valve springs are a necessity for it to cross the finish line at 8200.

@@TheFirefighterdude2 I have an actual L79 with GM hydraulic cam . Not pleased with it ,runs great to 5500 so I replaced it with a Dart little m427sbc.640lift roller . Runs better now. Now my 66SS has traction issues.
