Pollination during feeding behaviour

Caladenia robinsonii (Frankston Spider-orchid) attracts wasps by sexual deception and achieves pollination as they feed on its nectar. The orchid lures a male wasp with the scent of a female wasp emitted from dark ‘clubs’ at the ends of its petals. After initial sexual attraction, the wasp then feeds on sugars from the lip of the flower. While feeding, pollen is deposited on the wasp by the orc...

    Also, terracotta saucers of water are good so they have something to drink. My bandicoots love the area under a big, dense, sprawling rosemary bush, but also keep in mind the aperture of your fence wiring. If it is too small, then the bandicoots can get stuck midway through the hole, so either have big aperture mesh, or else have depression holes under the fence so they can escape through those.

    THE BEAUTIFULL BOTANICAL GARDENS DO NOT NEED WELCOME TO WOKE LEFT. THE PROMOTION OFVWELCOME TO COUNTRY, WOKE LEFT IDEALOGY INTO A TOURIST ATTRACTION IS DISGUSTING. MOST OF GARDENS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WOKE POLITICS OR NATIVE PLANTS. THE BEAUTY OF THE GARDENS ARE THE PLANTS BROUGHT FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD BY A GERMAN BOTANIST MEULLER, AND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ABORIGNIALS, NATIVE PLANTS OR WOKE LEFT CRETINOUS BULLSHIT. GROW A BRAIN, AND GET RID IF THEVWELCOME TO COUNTRY LEFT CRAP ASVWELL. I AM SICK OF THIS CRAP WRECKING OUR SOCIETY. THE AREA WAS SWAMP. WHAT WAS CREATED WAS CREATED BY THE ENGLISH NOT ABORIGINALS.

    This is a terrific insight and talk by Russell and shows the value and importance of having this observatory open for public viewings by guides such as Russell. This stuff is fascinating to people and the Botanic Gardens is very fortunate to have such a wonderful scientific and historic site within its marvellous Gardens precinct to and with which people can observe starry objects and listen to knowledgeable guides. Can the stem be made to grow thicker somehow? My lemon gum is very top heavy with a tiny stem and can’t support itself but I don’t just want to cut off the top. It feels wrong. I’ve been looking for books about eucalypts grown in gardens but haven’t found any yet.

    This video will come in handy again in 2 years when I’m planning on planting my Eucalyptus pauciflora niphophila outside in our garden. It’s a tiny little plant for now and I’ve had a lot of trouble getting the seeds to bloom but I’m hoping this species will be able to cope with the colder winters than the ones in Australia, that we have here in Germany. I’ve also planted lemon gum and blue gum seeds and have been very successful with those but of course those can’t be planted outside. The lemon gums have huge lignotubers by now which is just fascinating.

    • @MrFirebolt48
      @MrFirebolt48 3 года назад

      @@joshr24 hey, I guess it’s about 30cm tall. It’s outside in the afternoon autumn sun right now and just swaying a little in the wind. It looks great and has huge leaves and several branches by now. I’ve repotted it once in summer so it had a lot more space to grow. I’m thinking about planting it outside next year already since it’s growing so quickly but I haven’t made up my mind yet.
