Today we have a nice little flight over Burton Dassett and had a sneaky peek into on of the UKs biggest military ammunition storage depot. The hills seem to be the perfect place on a nice day for car enthusiasts to visit with a nice ford Escort RS Turbo to kick us off.

Thanks for posting. Site looks a bit of a mess at the moment (HS2 taking quite a lot of land, both permanently and temporarily) but hopeful that once all the haul roads have gone, the earthworks landscaped and trees planted etc the impact is going to be a lot less than many people are expecting. Hope I am right! ;-)

You say the bridge near the Priors Hardwick turn has been condemned; I should like to say the entire historic landscape between the bridge and windmill Hill in Ladbroke, with the ghostly presence of several deserted medieval villages, has been condemned. HS2 has been advertising its biggest projects, the Colne valley viaduct, the Chiltern tunnel, the motorway bridges with great ceremony. This stretch looks like an afterthought. Sadly I know what's disappeared here. Halse Copse was beautiful before HS2 sliced a corner clean off. And now those trees on the west have no protection from the prevailing wind, so I doubt the felling has ended yet

Nice views and futuristic music to go along with. Tubular HS2 shells ! Roundabouts are fair play !! These videos will be a great recorded history once tunnels are covered up. Reading the other comments and background this green tunnel really may be overdesigned for its purpose; so is providing an expensive training ground. However, if in the future this area becomes a military, commercial airfield, or developed area then the tunnel is probably good futureproofing.

If your that absorbed then you should park more sensible, no where near a junction and stand off of a road where you are totally safe from passing traffic. It may have been my English grammar and punctuation but I ment you should treat all people with respect and not call them goons just because they are doing their job . Asking a person what they are doing near a major infrastructure build ?? Were you actually on a public highway or private road? I know the through road on the Syresham Bypass road is an adopted highway but I’m unsure of the roads off leading to the building infrastructure. Can you clarify this? If it’s not an adopt highway then it’s private land and you have no right to park there . If it is a highway then could you be commuting an offence of obstruction due to your parking? Is it legal to fly a drone from a public highway? I’m not sure . Many points to consider here before you paint people doing there job as goons !

@davecooper3238 Hi Dave. So HS2 originally stated in their proposed plan for this Green Tunnel that it would be invisible at ground level, fully covered over and flat as the landscape was before so it can be returned back to the original landowners and continue to be farmed (the parts outside of the old RAF station that is). This cannot happen now as they were unable to go deep enough, so this now means that there will be earth mounded over the length of the tunnel up to 20/30 feet high, just like Catesby Tunnel. This was also part of the reason I thought I might document this part of the project so everyone can see how far they veer off from the original plan.

It will go down in our history that this is the biggest White Elephant of our time. Even when the government realised it wasn't now needed they didn't have the courage to cancel it. 43% of folks now working from home and the route being shortened. The money would have been better spent on our existing rail network with the addition of some extra Parkway stations. When future generations read about how much of our precious countryside it destroyed; how much of our wildlife was eliminated and how useless the service is, they will wonder, quite rightly, what on earth we were thinking of?
