    Good explanation maybe if they want to add water they would have to make it more conductive maybe adding salt or vinegar if not the best option is to buy graphene and make the same mixture and it will be obtained I think I have a greater conduction I think that in these paintings it is in 1 m no I remember it well, with carbon it would also work but at low conductivity, although you could measure the piece of carbon, you are measuring its surface inside it, maybe the continuity is very random

    I think your Hatchbox was a bad batch. I got the same quality as the Solutech, and the Hatchbox was so bright I could visibly see the walls from the glow of it.

    I've been using freezer paper as a backing for Kapton tape, both to cut (Cricut) and to have a non sticky back so I can put it down to affix traces cut from copper tape on the other side. A layer of Kapton on top, pre cut to line up with the traces and leave pads uncovered for soldering. Have you ever tried freezer paper as a backing? it's probably more cost effective than transfer tape, and less plastic used (if that's a concern). I've used it as a backing to cut fabric on vinyl cutters and to send fabric through a normal epson inkjet. it's almost magical stuff.

    Thanks for the demo and ratio of Elmers to graphite. Just what I needed.

    • @keithjonas3257
      @keithjonas3257 4 года назад

      Well I think I made the mistake of purchasing a Graphite "mixture" that includes mineral ash and quartz. I did the 3:1 (Elmers to graphite "mixture"), and I got ZERO conductivity; according to my multimeter. Warning to others, to read past the marketing cr*p when purchasing your graphite.

    This is a great video thanks! I'm looking for a good blue glow in the dark filament, but all these seem to be green. Can anybody recommend a good blue glow in the dark? Something as good as that green solutech seems to be?

      Freezer paper. You can buy special (thicker) freezer paper for crafting, or just regular Reynolds freezer paper on a roll works great.

      @@Internatube pla, my dad has the abs. I'd say it's about the same, I'm still partial to the pla glow. I still have some left and the parts I printed still glow dimly just shutting the lights off and brightly after some high exposure.

    hi, just asking can you go down to 1mm in traces with the cutter, im willing to buy a Vinyl cutter for my Magnetostatic Speaker Project, but i need to know is it possible to cut out 1mm traces on aluminium laminate, my material will be 12micron mylar foil with 9micron aluminium on it. Thanks

    • @danielaktas4105
      @danielaktas4105 5 лет назад

      I am not sure. Best to contact the customer helpline for the cutter brand you want to buy. Roland vinyl cutters are the best (and most expensive) and should have a helpful customer service line.

    Thank you for your video! Inspire me a lot to experiment with my makey makey... but I didn't understand if you added water to your mix or not. Doesn't work with other relation like 4:1 ?

    • @danielaktas4105
      @danielaktas4105 5 лет назад

      I did not add water to any of the experiments. In my classroom, I encourage my students to add a little water to make the paint apply easier but explain that they have to do more coats of the conductive paint to make a functioning painted circuit. The lowest graphite ratio by weight I was able to sorta get working was 3:1 acrylic to graphite but I found using 2:1 acrylic to graphite was the best working ratio.

    • @michele_russo
      @michele_russo 5 лет назад

      @@danielaktas4105 I just try with 3:1 glue to graphite and works very well. I tried before with vinyl glue but didn't work (probably vinyl glue isn't a good conductive fluid), then i have decided to try with transparent liquid glue and it works perfect! Obviously without water in mix. I think also it will be good to use carbon powder, because is cheapest than graphite. Take a look to this video: ruclips.net/video/W_ouYLeIkoo/видео.html

    What are the glow durations?

    • @danielaktas4105
      @danielaktas4105 5 лет назад

      They vary with how long the material is "charged" in the sun or a UV light. When making the video I decided that a comparison (instead of timing of the charging and glow time) was the most useful for my purposes.

    Hi. thanks for the video. on question in your overall experience, how good or bad is the printing quality of solutech compared to other brands like hatchbox? thanks again

    • @danielaktas4105
      @danielaktas4105 5 лет назад

      I am using the Up Mini 2 by Tiertime to print my work. I have had the best success with the Solutech but it seems like all glow in the dark filament will clog print heads sooner or later (i am guessing because of the fluorescent material used) so keep a backup on hand. I like the Solutech the best because I was able to get the fewest failed prints.

  • @raymondfox7583
    @raymondfox7583 5 лет назад

    Your video was exactly what I was looking for, thankyouverymuch! I was about to pull the trigger on some Hatchbox, but the price had shot way up on Amazon. I had heard good things about Solutech in the 3D printing subreddits, and since it was about $10 cheaper, thought I'd do some research. If their filament remains consistent across batches, then your video clearly shows that Solutech blows the competition outta the water! Great job on the comparison.

    Hey, REDACT3D sent me here, great comparison! You should reach out to Mike at Atomic - he would love to hear your thoughts on why you weren't able to get it to print well. I see you have 210c written on the side of that spool - perhaps that is a bit too low? I'll run Atomic GITD PLA around 230c.
