Sync a MixPre II with BMPCC using Tentacle Sync
Note: setting a bounce to zero means one bounce. setting a bounce to 1 means 2 bounces. and so on. If there were zero bounces, the walls and floor would not be visible. Initially what we see, is that first bounce off those surfaces. Perhaps the transparent section demonstrates it the best: going from zero to 1 (1-2) enables the light to fully reach the rear plane through the 2 transparent objects in front of it. In blender world, the count starts at zero. Think of when you duplicate an object: the duplication is ex: cube.001 because under the hood, cube.000 is number one. Just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, this is a good video!
why no transmission?
Thank you. I'm trying to get into voice acting and this has helped. You make things sound much simpler than when I read them online. Your video on XLR cables has really brought me up to speed on those, though I'm still figuring out exactly what an audio interface is used for. Either way, thanks for the help!
I don't understand what the Render option is doing. Does the render level reflect what the mesh object would look like if it was exported out into a game engine like Godot?
Deeply admiring such knowledge, I am speechless. Thank you
hmmm how can I apply this on a color result?
Which would be more intensive on the computer. This (geometry node) or the ANT landscape addon?
Bro how do i view all old one file pervious history?
my diamonds came out metallic for some reason
Excellent explanation
2:27 is kinda realistic like look at it through a camera lens perspective since most pictures that are dark will have some sort of noise in them when taking the picture but honestly this helps :) Thanks so much for this
This no longer works
Hello, Great tutorial. Have you tried applying it to a diamond in blender 4.1? I’ve tried applying it following your tutorial’ but it keeps the blue tint.
Thank you, this was really informative
Is there a way to blur edges via this method or something similar?
Спасибо
Cool
Bro you just saved my life thank you so much.
John Martinez - thanks for this. Now please make another video showing how you assemble all the parts, one part at a time, in the bag.
Great tutorial! I'm wondering what the best way is to convert this to an aiStandardSurface shader in Maya, though. Any help would be appreciated!
Green plants 😂😂😂😂
I know this is old.... but this is the best exaplantion how light paths work, you are the man, thanks alot
Oh no, this video is now considered old?! But glad it helped you!
Do you know how I would change there file path when it autosave? I would like to put them in a file so It doesn't get to messy
Sorry, I don't know of any way to send the backups to a separate folder. It just defaults to whatever folder the main file is in. Perhaps there is some plugin or something that someone has made to do that, but I don't know of any.
Excellent! There are just so many materials where you want the texture to be blurred at least slightly. Just what I needed!
Glad it helped!
THANK YOU!!
You're welcome!
why do i not have the option for GGX and the Random Walk in blender???
In the new versions of Blender, the principled BSDF was revamped and those options were moved under the subsurface and specular subcategories. I guess they decided it would make more sense to have them under the heading of the property it would most affect, rather then out on the top level where it's less clear what it is actually doing.
@@ltfilm Thanks for telling me this!
thanks for the video! helped me a lot!
Glad it helped!
Thanks!
Glad I could help!
hi, amazing tutorial and explanation! thank you so much for sharing! for some reason when I got to the part where you added Map range and value & math nodes, it didn't give the same effect which you got with purple and yellow bands showing through. The only way I was able to get a similar effect was either by plugging the Fresnel Factor node into Mix RGB or by removing the Mix RGB node, which then results in the colour range that you display in the video. but I can't understand why a Mix colour node would disrupt it, or why you would add it in the first place.
Thanks for watching it! I'm afraid I don't quite understand the setup you're describing. I don't believe I connected the Map range and value/math nodes to the mix RGB. They should connect to the IOR input of the refraction BSDF. The mix RGB is there to correct the darkening that happens when connecting the color ramp to the color input of the refraction BSDF. I can't remember if I had a reason why 1.55 was the value for the mix RGB or if I just figured it out by trial and error. If you have any more questions or just want me to elaborate on anything further, let me know!
Great video! Can I use this method to blur out a bump map normal?
Yes, I believe you can use it for bump mapping. But not for displacement. It gives really weird results if you do that, so make sure you don’t mix them up!
Thx for the video, I was looking to decrease my render times but didnt quite know what light paths did. Also now that ive read that other comment, you do sound like Michel Jackson.
Glad I could help! And oh no, that’s going to become a thing, isn’t it?
Slowly slowy
You’re right, and I did do a more reasonably-paced full length tutorial as well!
thank you very much. You helped me a lot. :)
Glad I could help!
At approximately 4 minutes, you explain an "infinite vertices along a virtual line" concept. YES, very helpful in understanding one of the important aspects of SD modifier. Thank you. #subscribed!
Glad it was helpful!
This is by far the most indepth EXPLANATION and not these typical "You usually put this here, that over there and there it goes brrrrrr". Kudos How the hell this video is left with 1.3k views only?
Thanks! I really appreciate this comment a lot. Always great to hear someone got a lot of value out of one of my videos!
So does it matter for me When i watch video and image or play game on smart phone with 10 bit display is enough or 12 bit better?
It would really depend on the content you’re viewing. An 8-bit video signal doesn’t benefit from being displayed on a 10 bit or higher monitor, but a 10-bit signal on an 8-bit monitor will lose some of the nuances that differentiate the 10-bit signal. However, true 10-bit consumer displays are somewhat rare and expensive. 8+2 bit monitors are more common, but are only imitating true 10-bit. (That’s a whole rabbit hole in itself.) And as far as I know, there aren’t any 12-bit consumer displays available. If any exist, they would fall firmly under the “professional” category and cost many thousand dollars. Tldr: Figure out what bit depth the media you’re consuming is at and get a display that matches that. 8-bit displays are probably good enough. 10-bit will provide a noticeably better experience, but are also noticeably more expensive. 12-bit for all intents and purposes doesn’t exist for you and me.
Ok, thanks. :)
Brilliant, really well done!
Thanks!
Thank you for this video.
Glad I could help!
AMAZING! REALLY AMAZING!
Thanks!
How do you access the encoder knob on the side to adjust gain, headphones and make menu selections?
I do it through the side panel. Just unzip it at the top and reach in!
Doesnt seem like a way to do it on the fly quickly. Also zipping makes noise!
Thanks for the tutorial, but please slow it down. As a beginner, it's impossible to follow along. Also, it would really help if you showed the finished node setup :)
Thanks! I totally agree with you. I was just memeing on this one haha. Look up Ian Hubert if you don’t know what I mean. But, I’ve got an actual in-depth tutorial that goes through the whole process and explains in MUCH more detail.
@@ltfilm Haha. Ok, now I get it! First I was like...whaaat. How am I supposed to follow this!? But I looked up the long version on your channel and am modeling a landscape now. Thanks <3
Glad it could help!
i cant find the lights paths option in my 4.0 blender
Is your render engine set to Cycles? I see the light paths option in mine. If it's set to Eevee or Workbench, there is no light paths option.
Nice video. One thing you can do at the end of the video is simply duplicate the mapping node and leave the X/Y/Z untouched so that the blur doesn't blur in a particular direction
This is so helpful and informative. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
excellent tutorial. thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks very much. Old veteran here, trying learning new tricks again. After 20 years using Maya with Mental Ray, Turtle, Arnold and Vray, it's time to give a chance to the so commented Blender. ( It's me or Blender shares similarities with my beloved / hated Lightwave?)
I’ve never used Lightwave, but I’m glad I can help you start your Blender journey!
Thank you, this is an awesome trick that's useful for me in all sorts of scenarios! (At first I accidentally used the value output of the white noise texture rather than color and got discombobulated results, but after switching to color as shown it just works perfectly like I would expect a blur node would, fantastic!)
Glad it helped!
Hi, neat video man! I want to ask, would you know how well a Zoom F8n Pro would fit in this bag? I know the bag is rated to accommodate the F8 but the F8 is taller than the MixPre. In this video you have your Lectrosonics wireless receivers directly on top of your MixPre in the bag's main compartment, if it were a F8 instead would this all still fit? Cheers! - 🐧
I don’t imagine it would fit with the receivers on top. The F8N pro is 0.7 inches taller than the MixPre, and the receivers are already a tight fit.
@@ltfilm Thank you for your insight! This helps. = D
I love looking at compact bag builds! Too often we're carrying far too much weight on spines due to our heavy mixing bag while booming at the same time, it's important to also have lightweight bags too. I made a couple of videos recently about my lightweight bags: ruclips.net/video/-_4NCpORnk8/видео.html ruclips.net/video/wVAqH2IuMTQ/видео.html
