My cat had a collar for the first year of her life because it was one with a bell so we always heard where she was, after that she was free of it because she was chipped, best way, she went missing for 3 months after being looked after by my nephew, sitting in my lorry one day and the phone rings, i got "we have your cat mr caldwell" said a vet, turns out the little madam was living with a couple 7 doors down from my nephew, 😂😂😂😂

Its to tight
take it off, or loosen the collar. Its very uncomfortable for a cat thats supposedly never had a collar
If its to loose the cat can slide its arm under and through the collar trying to get it off and get its arm stuck in it. Which is dangerous. They can also hang themselves on stuff like tree branches and things around the house if its to loose. Very dangerous to have a loose collar unless it's a breakaway collar. This specific collar is flea and tick and will help the cat get rid of the parasites.
It could be the type of collar that he doesn't like. Why do you have the collar on him? I might be able to suggest alternatives if it's just for identification

We left a 2-finger gap as usual, and made sure it wasn't too tight. It's just the first time this 2-year old kitty has ever worn a collar.
Why don't you wear one 24 hours a day and see what it feels like.
@louisebarnewall8022 this is a flea and tick collar from what I can see. Would you rather the cat get a parasitic infestation and be miserable and sick or wear a collar that it will get use to in a few days time. A collar like this needs to be closer and tighter to the skin to get tye treatment on the skin and to avoid the cat getting a loose collar snagged on things and hanging itself or getting its arm stuck in it. You're not right nor are you thinking about what's best for the cat. Grow up
Way too tight
You dont want it to loose because the cat can slide its paw under and through and get their whole arms stuck. My kittens all did the same thing and it's dangerous. They can also get their collar stuff on things and hang themselves if it's to loose. This specific collar she has on is a tick and flea collar so she's helping the cat alot in this situation.
