I don't think so, he probably lost grip of the ball and got himself back together to make that strong throw. Even if the first basemen isn't there you should still throw it bc he should be on his way there to catch it

The camera angle doesn’t do it justice because it’s almost head on. He’s throwing from more than 100 feet away (pitch release point is much less than 60 feet from the batter because the plate is 60’6” and pitcher stretches way out in front before releasing) and still the transit time is really short.

He threw the record for the fastest throw across the diamond and has the strongest arm in the infield
@@SheaHohdifference between 95 and 80 is huge. As in, 99.9% of the other shortstops can not throw 95 on their best day. It’s a bad angle too. Look up clips of him throwing, that are filmed from the plate. Hits different.
