    This is good practical advice, but often enough when you read the actual article it doesn't actually *support* what's being claimed in the abstract, there are problems with methodology, etc. - citing articles I haven't actually read doesn't serve any purpose in terms of scientific rigor, I think. It's mostly just something you have to do to get the right kind of density of citations to make your research look like a 'proper paper' in the most superficial sense while being able to write it in a reasonable timeframe.

    • @DanielDavis7
      @DanielDavis7 Год назад

      Fair enough, especially if you’re faculty or trying to actually publish. One would want to double-check methodological quality. This was advice for my undergraduates trying to write class papers.

    This explanation is somewhat reductionist and misrepresentative. It’s an accurate summary of Materialism, but Marx practiced DIALECTICAL Materialism - the theory that both the Idealist perspective AND the Materialist perspective could be simultaneously true. It IS true that the Material conditions of society fundamentally shape the resulting culture, but it is ALSO true that the social and cultural conditions of a society shape the material conditions of that same society. The DIALECTIC teaches us that the material and ideological co-exist and constantly shape each other in many different ways. Explaining Marx’s material outlook without introducing Marx’s concept of the Dialectic **as it applies to** a Historical Materialist outlook is nearly a Lie by Omission!

    Idealism >>>>>> materialism . It’ll always be mind over matter. Money is empty, it doesn’t feed our soul, it’s obvious the world runs on spiritual forces or energy

      @@preemptivekicks1355 well i have been that person, we should be telling it to the rich cuz they lose their humanity in all their material privileges and influence the poor that that's all there is to life, sacrifice our relationships and humanity for materialism

    • @preemptivekicks1355
      @preemptivekicks1355 3 года назад

      @@markk6151 But I think you miss the point. The material world will always be more important to those who are struggling. A person who does not lack resources has the privilege of saying idealism is more important. Not to discount that ideas can create change but let's not forget that the materialism and the lack of really shapes our lives.
