ERCs are widely used in IR, so must know the dimensional tolerances of ERC
ERCs are two types as toe concerned 1) Round toe & 2) Flat toe,
Round toe ERC act as point load, whereas flat toe ERC have wider bearing area, so act as uniform load.
ERC flat toe shape is ellipse have major axis and minor axis. Further flat toe type ERCs are 4 types ERC-J, Mark-III, Mark-V & Antitheft.
Mark-III is widely used in IR. Due to up gradation of track structure, being used R260 rail, wider sleepers with mark-V ERCs etc.
Some of mark-V ERCs are loosening, dropping while running of trains.

Sir this is case of contrary flexure with same curvature of mainline so to my opinion there will be no negative superelevation on turnout side .However is the curvature of mainline and turnout side is opposite the turnout side will have negative superelevation. Please comment to my opinion and understanding. Sir can you suggest me some good books apart from iricen publication, K f antia to which I can refer for good understanding of layout .
Sir why do we calculate equilibrium radius
Dear friend thanks for watching upto the point. Calculation of equilibrium radius must when turnout takes off from either inside or outside because, 1) Equilibrium radius should not be less than 290m for TWS(1in12) and 350m for curved switches 2) To find the equilibrium cant on turnout side use the equilibrium radius only 3) Without Equilibrium cant how to find the actual cant provided on main line?
