    • @swansong7090

      I think it is very good for dark roasts. Using gas it gets plenty hot and is very responsive. My brother has a Hottop and while ago we both tried very dark roasts. I had no trouble going past second crack. Neither of us particularly like dark roasts as the finer fruity flavours seem to get lost.

    Thank you so much for uploading this, if there's more dancers (particularly vahine solos from before the 2000s) i would love to see more, thank you. I Really like that you personally took this footage yourself, I recently purchased a DVD of the Heiva festivals form the same year that claims to have the best moments, and let me tell you, they are a disappointment compared to the stuff that is not exhibit by ICA and Polynesie1ere, I wanted to archive the most raw, provocative and uncensored aspects of pre-2000s tahitian dancing, including more explicit vahine dance routines (topless and near bottomless), but such material is hard to come by, RUclips's algorithm censorship and preferential treatment doesn't help either. So it would be ok to ask, do you have recorded some more ''risque'' vahine dancers? there used to be in the 80s and the 90s?

    Nice work 👍 How the oven and drum temperatures are measured? Where are the thermocouples?

    • @swansong7090
      @swansong7090 4 года назад

      Hi. The oven temp is measured by the temp probe that comes with the Kaldi. It is angled into the bottom right hand side of the drum and measures the drum/bean temp. I purchased a digital meter from China, very cheap from e bay. It was described as "Digital High Temperature Thermometer K Type Thermocouple Sensor Probe TM6801" You can see how I fitted it here= ruclips.net/video/8Hu35lmCELs/видео.html. It measures the hot air at the top of the oven. This is the environment that the drum rotates in and so the drum should climb towards this temp. It is not necessary but I find it helpful as it gives early warning if the beans are likely to get too hot or cool down. Cheers

    • @swansong7090
      @swansong7090 4 года назад

      Not much at all as I get more used to it. I get a good medium roast with most beans as follows: Load the beans Drum temp- 175C Oven temp 220C Low point Drum temp 123C Oven temp 218C Hay colour Drum temp 160C Oven temp 230C First crack Drum temp 207C Oven temp 230C Finish 2.5-3 minutes after first crack is heard. The oven temp probe is not all essential. As you say about 60-75% is where I usual have the gas knob and if you just go by the drum temp you seem to get very good roasts and lovely coffee. The digital oven temp probe reacts very quickly to gas knob adjustments and it is helping me learn.

      I think it was due to the GPS struggling to dettermine vessel direction when I first engaged "follow" mode. I now make sure the boat is moving on a steady course and engage "follow mode" only after 15 seconds or so to establish the GPS course direction. So far Hangar Autopilot "follow mode" has worked very well. What I have not checked yet is if "max distance" is the maximum distance from the dynamic home point or max distance from take off.

    • @swansong7090
      @swansong7090 7 лет назад

      When I opened my unit it was pretty much a standard PC inside with standard PC connecors. The USB pins and USB connector were easy to see. If there is no USB pins on the motherboard of your model I suppose you will either have to put a firewire card into an old Desktop unit or buy a second hand laptop that has firewire. You may have to do this anyway because USB was slow years ago and that is probably why they used firewire.

    • @TheBurtonEus
      @TheBurtonEus 7 лет назад

      Yeah, that is exactly why they used firewire. I may look at trying an adapter first, just to see if it works. Otherwise, I'll need to pick up an old laptop or desktop with firewire. A bit of a pain, but cheaper than trying to get one of the new ones. Would ideally like to get a Skytrak at some point. Thanks for the reply!
