well the original recording was pitched up by multiple cents than how it actually sounded in the performance. I’d say that since the original tape was pitched up and is again pitched up here, it’s roughly in between C and C# Major.

I always wonder why she had to lower the key of this song. She had more ease in the upper belts during Daydream Era than in the Debut era. She sure could hit every note in the original version or even higher
She lowered the key of all her songs before this era but also adding a alot higher note. Like she lowered the Hero key by 1 semititone but added G5 in the song which is not in the studio. Same with vision of love she added F#5 that is not in the studio but lowered the key of the sone by one semitone lower.
@@driveTOPlaya I agree it’s usually lowering to avoid stress while touring but adding higher notes just for fun for Mariah ❤️
Many singers do this when on tour to avoid straining the voice.
