The fastidious owners have restored and maintained her to the highest levels possible, she is beautifully built in Huon Pine and Spotted Gum Hull with Teak decks. Bravo pour cette très belle vidéo, ça donne envie ! Je n'ai qu'une seule question : est ce que c'est vraiment paradisiaque une fois que l'on y est ?
I am sitting right inside this boat right now and it is pretty good. There are some amazing places that are not Bora Bora
Wonderful to see the old girl so beautifully restored. I owned her as Valhalla and sailed her in the 1973 Sydney Hobart and around the Pacific in the 70 with a young crew and still often share stories about her and our cruising antics. I bought Valhalla off Ann Britain, a young Canadian woman in 1972 for $20,000, Ann was 28 years old. Ann renamed her Valhalla and spent 8 years circumnavigating in her. Her father bought her the boat when she was 20. Ann was a journalist and claimed to be the first woman ever to skipper a yacht around the world and wrote about her adventures in a series of articles entitled 'Dolly on Deck'. I sold her in 1979 to Peter Walker a renown Sydney yachtsman. Southwinds is an incredibly strong and capable ocean going cruiser. She brought us home from our Pacific adventures through 'Cyclone Pam' in 1974. Seas were at twenty meters when winds gusted over 200 klm and blew the seas flat. Southwinds came through with flying colours and suffered no damage. derk-vanderbent.blogspot.com/2021/01/a-stiff-northeaster.html
As a romantic appeal must have attract many bottlenose dolphins and the eyes of mermaids
There is a story... about a school of dolphins that warned and saved us from coming to grief on a reef in Fiji. Mermaids well that's another story again :)
Classic romantic
Lovely, what happened to the mizzensail? Still in storage?
