Kevin Chamberlin was perfectly cast as Horton, but I'm not a huge fan of the costume they gave Horton. Putting somebody in grey clothes doesn't make them look like an elephant. Couldn't they have at least given him elephant ears?

So glad that you shared this! I didn't know if a video recording even existed. Erick Devine (General Genghis Kahn Schmitz) is my uncle. My wife and I traveled to NYC in May 2001 and saw the show, just days before it closed. I'll never forget seeing him come out of the stage on that rising platform. Truly a core memory. He passed away in 2019, but left behind so many special memories from his acting career.
