Planting Perennials In The Lilac Bed!
Просмотров 207Год назад

These shrubs are early bloomers, and we wanted to have blooms in that spot that could be showcased for the remainder of the season each year! So, we planted the new Reminiscent Pink Rose from Proven Winners (blooms May-June and then re-blooms in the summer into fall), two Purple Cone Flowers (blooms end of ...

Просмотров 78Год назад
Hello! Today we harvested the garlic we planted in the Fall (October 2022)! We had planted 14 cloves of a hardneck variety of garlic in our veggie bed! This was an interesting harvest because our squash plants have gotten HUGE due to the rain storms and high levels of humidity and heat. While we did harvest some garlic, we talk about the lessons we learned along the way and how we are going to ...

We tried our best to label as many of the flowers/plants...

Просмотров 653Год назад
Hello! In this video we give a tour of our garden, how it stands in May 2023! As always, we are very transparent with "the good, the bad, and the ugly", because we want to encourage real life gardening and highlight the beauty in it! Most of us are working full time, have a family, have busy schedules, etc. We often don't have time to create the perfect garden space- one without weeds, pruning,...

Tall and Narrow Evergreen Winter Interest!
May we get an update please?
Nicely done, as with all of your pruning videos! It would be helpful to see an update on your blueberries, to show the progress/current state two years later. Do you have any plans to create update videos any time soon? Thanks!
Found your video because I will be growing potatoes again but this time trying a 20 gallon growing bag. 🤞🏾
Love your video!! Thank you!! Any updates on how it's thriving? I'm just learning about these beauties and going to plant in front landscape soon
You are the best music teacher I’ve had :D I’m so glad to have had you for middle school :)
I love my at last roses! Only con is that I find they loose their petals really quickly which is a shame considering how beautiful and fragrant they are.
How deep was a hole compare to rootball?
lol, gets to the cutting process.. the video speeds up... ha. what a joker. :D
Always those Voltunteer sun flowers ✨✨✨✨
Where are you Mr. Emken we’re waiting on a new vid! Love the channel btw😅
We miss this channel it’s so helpful for my gardening.😁
Please come back for summer!
When you cut it back like this, when it grows back will it grow back to being a bleeding heart? since it’s cut down so short! i need to cut mine down cause she’s taking over the entire garden
Yes. It will be fine. I do mine every year. I wait till it's mostly yellow tho.
I bought 8 blackeyed susan vines ,proven winners, no flowers, yet, how do i get them to bloom
Hi There, its been a while since we have seen you i hope all is well and your back very soon xx
Where are you located?
Hi Thank you for an informative video. I am yet to get fruits from my tree. Is it ok to prune them?
Thank you for sharing your gardening experience this is my first time growing potatoes fingers crossed 🤞 I get a nice harvest.
Any updates on these?
This is the best video on youtube on this subject! 😊 So informative! Thank you so much!! God bless!! 💖🌱🌷🌼
Yooo I am in the guys class
Very nice
Thank you!
Hi just checking in to see if your ok? its been a while, hope all is well xx
Hi, Linda! We are hanging in there! It has been a rollercoaster of a Fall season with medical procedures and extra work loads for finishing up my licensure. Hope to smooth things over for the new year. We have been thinking of you and sending you good vibes! Hope you are well!
@@emkengardening9206 Agh bless you, i cannot believe we are nearly in dec where has this year gone, i am ok could be better but that is life, hope to see you back very soon take care xxx
I think the label on your plant might have been wrong. I've heard from a number of sources that hicks you grows in shade which is one of its particularities.
Hello! Sorry for the late response! I have also heard that, and was more confident planting in that spot. They have done very well, and have thrived in the shade! It is hard to not take plant tags and labels at face value and I agree with you!
In the minute 9:28 and 10:58 what is that white things that u spread it around ? Info pls Tku
Hello! That is Bio-Tone starter fertilizer from Espoma! It is our favorite fertilizer to use with our flowers and veggies! It really helps jump start growth by giving the plants the nutrients they need! Thanks for watching!
Good job Mr Emken
Thanks!
im starting to get into gardening and youtube recommended your vid and I am happy that it did, such GORGEOUSSSSS happy sunflowers, your garden is lovely! I enjoyed the tour XD
Welcome! Thank you for watching and for the lovely compliments! We are glad you are here!
Its good to see you seems like its been ages, garden looking good, thanks for showing us around xx
I know! It is wonderful to hear from you, Linda! I hope your summer has gone well!
Why start the seeds so high in the bag ? most I have seen plant 4 to 6 inches up from the bottom and build up from there 🤔🤔😊
Yes! We planted the sectioned seed potatoes about 6 inches below the top of the bag to then hill them up as the plant grows! (End result- we got a ton of potatoes!)
Not potato seeds, seed potatoes! There is a very very big difference!
Yes, you are right! Thank you for pointing that out!
Lighten up I think everyone know what was meant, idiot.
Oh dear, I just figured my butterfly bush was dead since I saw nothing new on it in June. I pulled that sucker a few weeks ago, darn it!
Oh man! I'm sorry! We honestly didn't think ours were alive either because typically new growth starts growing on the established stems from the past year and pruning is required to make sure blooms happen all over the bush (not just at the top).3 out of the 5 butterfly bushes however this year came up fresh from the ground this year! Not sure if this is actually typical or not, though!
Amazing and very pretty amazing too what a deluge of rain can do, including pesty weeds, xx
It really is! And we have more rain on the way, too! It is great for the garden though, so I am thankful!
The camera work in this video is phenomenal!!😂😂❤❤
Amazing cinematography!
I love At Last Rose. Mine is in its first year (April 23) and bloomed great. Now it is taking a break and more should bring more blooms soon. I deadhead mine to keep it neat. Did yours take a little break yet? I"m in Zone 9b so mine bloomed early.
Yes, it is slowing down it's blooms right now! We only have a couple on each plant at the moment. We absolutely LOVE ours! Ours put on a lot of growth in the first year, so I hope your's does too! Have a great day!
Amazing 🏡🏡garden So beautiful plants🌱🌱 n flowers🌸🌺🌻🌹🌷🌼💐🌸🌺🌻🌹🌷🌼💐 very nice upload dear friend💐🥰 so hardworking New friend from India🇮🇳 in Punjab in sri amritsar sahib you know golden Temple 🤗

@@emkengardening9206 good morning ji 🌄😊🙏
ZONE 10 A , they grow as perennials and more then 20'' feet Tall 🤩
That is amazing!!!!
If like last year, they are going to look so lovely, xx
I hope so!
Lovely video, i have the same planters in green, they make quite a statement on a boring fence just planted mine with a variety of summer bedding there looking so nice i also like you can get single ones as well, they are cute, look forward to seeing yours in all there glory xx
The green planters you spoke of sound great! I hope they fill in beautifully by summer time!! Thanks for watching, Linda!!
Hi new to your channel question do your baskets have plug’s? If so may sound silly but do you remove the plug? Please let me know I received these beautiful baskets as gift unsure about the plug! Beautiful looking container’s 👩🏽🌾🤗 thanks for sharing 😉😊
Hi, Teresa! Welcome to our channel! That does not sound silly at all! We did remove the pug at the bottom of the basket. This will allow good drainage to flow so the plants do not get water logged! The basket itself also has really great drainage from the sides, as well! I hope you enjoy your baskets!
Love the variety of colors. It would be nice to add a list of plant names to be able to find them at the nursery.
Thank you so much for watching, Nora! I love your idea of adding a list to the description box or in the video itself so that people watching can find them in nurseries! Thank you so much for suggesting it! Hope you are having a wonderful growing season!
Thank you!
nice
Thank you for watching!!!
Looking pretty and lots of colour your baskets are very lovely, everything here is so late because we had so much rain but its at last warming up, i cannot believe its june, where has half the year gone? wont be long before xmas appears in our shops, we seem to start early which just is crazy thankyou for the tour xx
Thank you so much, Linda 😊 We have had some weird weather here, too! I am glad you enjoyed the tour!
Wonderful! I planted one 3 years ago and mistakenly believed some info online that they can tolerate part sun conditions. Not so! Barely any growth and paultry blooming. I do fertilize at planting time and in the spring. Planning now for it's move to a better spot.
Thank you for watching the video! I am glad you enjoyed it! Yes, they will do better in a full sun location! I hope the transplanting goes well for you! Take care!
If your baskets are like last years they are going to look amazing, i had not heard of the Jelly Fish plant until i found a lady on instagram who now has her own Utube channel, and oh my they were so unusual and from afar they look quite creepy, i have never seen than plant here, not sure why but it is unusual, and what a great idea about you and hubby doing your own, thankyou for a very colourfull video xx
Thank you for watching Linda!!! <3
Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Very usefull video, and your garden is coming into bloom too, it is raining here i think its the wettest april, and the coming week looks wet too, i know its good but its just so frustrating when i want to get out in my garden just planted all my summer bedding plants, i swear they have gone up in price too, thanks for a great video xx
We are having similar weather patterns here, too! Lots of rain and then hot all of a sudden! Thanks for watching, Linda! And as always, sending you our best!
@@emkengardening9206 Agh thankyou sending it right back to you both as well xx
You have to remember on that ' chain link fence ' that people like to get out their weed whips and cut everything off at the bottom of that fence. You need to put a can or some metal protector for the bottom few inches.
