    Interesting take considering that zverev's forehand is prob one of the worst on tour in pressure moments. Yea, his technique might look cleaner than sinner's, but in terms of just shot quality zverev's forehand doesnt come close to sinner

    Torque is force times distance but the distance here is referring to distance perpendicular to the line of action. For twisting a bolt, the torque is applied to the bolt not the wrench. The wrench experiences a bending moment but that is different front twisting. If you want to make the analogy, the perpendicular distance would be your stance width. Force are from your muscles. The ball is only affected, the moment it contacts your racket. So what matters in the end is the racket head speed at contact. I just don't think 'torque' explains much. I believe the what you meant to say is that if you held your arm out, you will be in a leverage disadvantage. Similar to up shifting for a bicycle. You gain RPM (racket head speed) at the cost of needing to pedal harder(muscle)

    Roger definitely has a sweeter serve motion compared to Carlos, but I feel like Carlos can generate more power. But I do think Carlos should study the initial serve motion of both Roger and Sampras, Sampras especially, since Carlos likes to play serve and volley also for him to have an easier time going up to the net for a volley which would help him a lot in AO

    so torque is equal to force times distance. but force (hitting the ball, and what results in ball speed) is equal to torque divided by distance. if you increase the distance (in the denominator) force gets smaller. to get more force, we will need more torque - it looks like a wider leg stance is more appropriate for that and looks like thats the case in your video. so, i am not sure that we can say that a longer hitting arm will directly result in a faster ball without any other factors

  • @BertilRonberg
    @BertilRonberg 18 дней назад

    Yes, a straight arm is ideal for more power, but when you have a more extreme grip this is kinda impossible. Watch Sinner, Djokovic and Fritz. Their arm is not close to being fully extended mainly cause of their grip. Not a deal breaker at all imo.

    • @Michael-kb3tt
      @Michael-kb3tt 12 дней назад

      This is just saying that the maximum amount of power that can be generated is from a straight arm and it’s just physics. The best bent arm player could hit the ball harder if they used a straight arm technique just facts 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @PointPlayTennis
      @PointPlayTennis 18 дней назад

      @yassineelghribe8196 - different racket weights will change how much force you can generate but torque is a universal constant law that never changes. If you increase your force and distance you increase your torque.

      yeah work and torque are both force times distance. but torque is force times the static perpendicular distance. work is force times some distance over time (could be angular, linear, etc).

    Biomechanical speaking yes..... But the question is... How much will that bit more movement cost after 3 hours. It's of course a question of biomechanics but also a question of how long can you do it with that intansity...endurance at that level.. Sinners serve is more economic and stats are saying nearly as effective.....
