    My parents and I never had a good relationship after they forced me to go to church against my near WW3 resistance. And they were not even very religious, they were concerned about how their friends would view things. They were evil. They threatened me with everything (I was around 14) and I just stayed im my room for the next 4 years and told them to FO. I am absolutely stunned that the bible thumpers have so much political sway that this is not included in the child protective services code. Amazing.

    • @Uncledrewzzy
      @Uncledrewzzy 19 дней назад

      IMO one of the only ways a child can 100% commit is if they had actually looked up to their parents as their idols. They want to follow in their footsteps. However, if the relationship is strained, there is very little chance.

    My parents bicker and argue all the time and now that I’m an adult with a kid I refuse to listen to it. I hate being stuck around them in cars or anywhere once they start up. Interesting point of view! It's a good thing that you've reduced your time being online on social media and redefined what social media means to you personally. But FOMO and ignorance are 2 different things that you should know the difference between. When you mentionned that people were wearing masks at the gym, I feel that you should have been aware of the current world/ social conditions. Even if it is 'anxiety inducing', just having the knowledge of it can help with you discerning whether or not you should take any preventative measures (i.e. wearing the mask to help mitigate the spread of it to you/ your family when you were at the gym/ carjacking in your neighbourhood etc.). Like even taking 5 minutes out of your week to learn what's happening in the world news keeps you from being blindsided and in touch with current events from reality.

    Time to turn off incognito and make a comment. Im tired of staying quiet about this. I don't care about saying personal things online anymore because my life is falling apart. Im a pretty young person, but sometimes i feel like the most mature person in my household. I love my parents, but my dad yells all the time and hes hypocritcal, and my mom is kinda irresponsible. My brother has been extremely paranoid about my dad and just down in the dumps recently because most arguments are about him. Won't give context. I want to do something to help, but it doesn't even seem worth my time anymore. Cant even properly react to it anymore. Im just, desensitized to it at this point. I just want life as i knew it back. God always has a plan, but what is THIS contributing to? I just dont get it man.

    Nothing works. They have to want the help and want to get better, including being willing to connect to a real support group/counsellor to work through the reasons they're hurting themselves. I have watched my mom try to stop smoking for my entire life (almost 50 years), and she always goes back to it b/c 'something's missing.' She doesn't know how to deal with her negative emotions, relies on me coming home to visit as the time she'll (yet again) quit, hoping I will be her strength, and saying she'll lean on her willpower, which never lasts. I've done and said everything and have to quit giving myself false hope that 'this time' is going to be different. It's beyond heartbreaking watching my mom slowly kill herself amidst lies, deflection, excuses, and empty promises.

      How can you love someone you’ve never met. And no, feeling tingly emotions isn’t talking to someone, it’s a feeling all humans get in certain situations. Many denominations just tell you to avoid all those situations, like “worldly pleasures,” so that you won’t feel it outside of their control and realize it’s just human psychology. Also, you and the people around you do good things in your life, not a god. You can take credit for your own accomplishments, instead of constantly thinking how worthless and useless you are without your invisible friend. That’s just emotional abuse.

    When I was a kid BOTH My Mom and Dad forced me to go to Church and every service I busted out being a loud mouth disrupting them they started taking away things that I am all about until one Sunday that it all came to a hit when I REALLY busted out during service and mom attacked me and I attacked her back and when I got back home dad pulled out the belt and darn near gave me a near never ending spanking until I stopped him by telling him that he was making me sick and played like I was about to get sick because of what he was about to do and got in the bathroom and stood in the bathroom for a good while and then avoided him for that whole Sunday and the backfire became where my whole act came back to haunt me on Friday Nights when I used to stay up late at night for the Arsenio Hall Show and be the last person getting into bed after that show but dad ended up taking away my late nights basically making me go to bed when he goes to bed. Basically I had lost that autonomy to stay up late at night. And then, Dad FINALLY got the message even that included opening his mouth and devouring me afterwards. Still, he got the message. Lately, Mom wanted to take with her back to Church for the first time in forever and I warned her that the next time that she attacked me for being a disruptive loud mouth again during service that she does not get to be a coward again and cry to the cops or run me out of the house and then she got the message. Yes, she ran her mouth devouring me but afterwards she still got the message. However, all of this included having to learn and teach myself a different code and learning how to speak their language in a way that they would understand spiritually. I am autistic and yes I am high functioning on like the hyper end and my parents had to learn the hard way to not force their spiritual assertion(s) of what right and wrong is against me or else I will not be all that receptive to them. Yes I believe in God and I believe in Jesus Christ but they had to learn that I operate in a different way than they do on some things.
