Schrade Viper Review (Spring Assisted)!
Your points are very accurate. Thanks.
I'd like to think so. It's a great watch, but it does have its cons. Thanks for watching!
@@TheWatchDoggg I think it's great also and has so many positive reviews. There was a chance two weeks ago for a good condition 2nd hand bargain of 350 euros. The shiny side bezel pushed me away! Perhaps I lost a chance. Seiko guys, matte is better! This is not a dress watch!
@vasevas1 the shiny bezel was bothersome. It's my complaint about the hamilton khaki and rolex explorer. But the explorer 36 is perfect in every other way. If seiko decided to stop polishing every field watch they make, I'd consider it another try
Very beautiful watch
I got it for five bucks
That's a steal!
@@TheWatchDoggg i know right!
I disagree with people saying this is a harsh review, you have valid points and over all it was good criticism
I'm glad you got the message I was portraying. I love what seiko used to be and the value they once had. I know they can do better in all of their pricepoints, and I would rather see them thrive by listening to watch enthusiasts instead of chinese microbrands filling in that gap and taking over. It's a shame, because that watch is close to being perfect
Thanks.. I buy gshock better.
I have the leather strap version where did you get the bracelet?
Mine came with the watch, but I'm pretty sure the case is the same as the sarb017, meaning you can get a strapcode bracelet that for the sarb017/hamilton khaki field for ~$70 which is the same quality if not better than the oem bracelet
@@TheWatchDoggg Gotcha. I recently sold my second alpinist I had the spb123 so I might pick one up. Thanks.
@@ratedm90 awesome, I love that dial. Good luck
Spot on. Im done with Seiko. No longer offer value. Accuracy is terrible. QC sucks too.
Exactly. I still have my skx because of the value when it was $200. I ended up selling the alpinest. I'm tired seeing them cutting corners and raising the price.
Those are minor niggles to me. 2 micro adjustments are adequate. 3 would be better, but not a deal breaker. The quoted accuracy is usually verrry conservative - most run in +/- 5-10s/day which is acceptable. The mineral glass on the underside is also pretty industry standard at that price point, but I agree, for the $20 it costs them to put sapphire in, just do it.
You're right. They are pretty minor. I originally bought the watch because I love the look of it and the specs. However, I've noticed on a few friends seikos that they were running +15-20 sec a day, but the 2 seikos I've owned didn't do that, so I guess it's luck of the draw. I just wanted to note that because I'd be disappointed I'd my watch was running +20 sec as accuracy is important to me. Especially on a new watch.
you dont own enough 6R35. i have 20+ seiko, and the accuracy issues are accurate, majority have 20s/day deviation. even 4R are much more accurate
Why dont you clean your lens up abit? this video are so tough for me to watch it. That kinda sucks too~
I'll take care of that. Unfortunately, my videos are shot on my phone
Agree with some points but the date complication? There would be just an triangle instead of the date and the date is also on a black surface. I have the cream one from the laurel Re-Interpretation line, the bracelets are ass.
I know I'm weird with the date. I think the date complication was done nicely. I just happen to love the asthetic of no date watches especially with field watches. Thank you for watching!
Its Alpinist.
Thank you, I'll fix that
I have three Seikos all with the 6R35 movement and find they all keep time well within the 15-30sec/day tolerance.
Personally, 15-30 seconds off is too inaccurate for a modern watch. Hamilton watches in a similar price range have much tighter accuracy standards. Which seikos do you have?
A diver that is a half luxury, half a field watch. Those germans are ready for everything.
Lol, they make amazing watches, that's for sure
I totally agree. Yes, it is a cool piece, good specs but come on! It has one job... tell the time... for that price it should be way more accurate.
If seiko had better accuracy standards and would improve their QC (particularly misaligned bezels), people would have nothing to complain about for a sub $1000 watch
If you want accuracy buy a quartz
@@JamesBond-rv1kk oh yes, definitely. After experiencing this with multiple watch brand from different ranges, that is all I buy. More accurate and durable. :)
the seaq of course!
Great answer!
Nice collection, great that you kept it to 4. I found it too easy to go crazy and get over 12 pieces! Love the Glashutte Original, a unique choice and really just as good if not better than the common brands.
I appreciate it. I had a larger collection in the past, but it was too overwhelming and I always gravitated towards a few watches. I rather have 4 watches that I love and wear opposed to 15 watches that get 1-2 days a month. The GO caught my attention a few years back since I love the color blue and dive watches. I've had people with a submariner on compliment and ask about it. What do you have in your collection?
You can swap the sh*tty bracelet for about a 100USD, or wear it on a good leather strap. I have bought the compass bezel alpie, I am a bracelet guy, so I have bought a Strapcode Jubilee (not the Angus) and because even the Strapcode bracelet has a not too nice clasp (too bulky) I ordered a butterfly clasp from ebay and now I am totally fine with the watch. The accuracy of my SPB121 was out of the box +4sec/WEEK!!! And it keeps this accuracy nowadays. I have bought another Alpinist (used SPB123) last week, the accuracy was +18sec/day, for me it was unacceptable, so I have regulate it to +3sec/day, and now it keeps it very well. Every new watch needs at least a month to "break in" after this period, even if the watch are within the loose factory specifications, you can go to a watchmaker and he/she can regulate your watch for much better timekeeping. I have a couple 4R Seikos, they can also keep a very good and consistent time, within +/-20sec/WEEK! Yes, they all needed regulations after 1 month, not only the daily rate, there was a watch what came out from the factory with 1,4msec beat error... Nowadays it produces 0,1-0,2msec and within +10sec/WEEK! From a workhorse movement I think it is a very good tmkeeping.
SeaQ, what an odd pick, love it!
Thank you. It's great choice for anyone who wants a discrete luxury dive watch that has it all. I would love to see if they made a no-date version.
@@TheWatchDoggg The finishing on them is amazing! Fair play, not enough guys buying what they like! A no date would be amazing!
@UltraMecha I just wanted something a little different. I try not to get attached to certain hype watches. I still love the ap royal oak
I have the same watch in green but i take a green nato .
The green dial I beautiful too. I wish I could wear them all.
Seiko use to hit above their price tag. Now you pay more for less and the same terrible QC. My SDBC101 JDM and SARB035 JDM were both duds. Never again.
I agree. I don't mind a price increase as long as QC, materials, and accuracy changes as well. As of now, I can't see myself getting another seiko, but who knows what the future holds.
Seikos are junk. Don’t waste your money. Move on to better brands. That’s what I did
That metal bracelet is wonderful - but my wife didn't like the weight so she went with the rubber.
I understand that. I just bought a rubber strap last night! Your wife has excellent taste
Harsh review. But you forgot to mention all the good things going for it. Sapphire crystal, water resistance, beautiful dial, big power reserve, solid bracelet. If I spent more and wanted entry level luxury then i would nitpick about the accuracy, unsigned crown, text on the exhibition case back, and the date color matching. But I can live with it because on wrist it looks great and makes me smile. Its that seiko magic.
I believe I did mention the sapphire crystal and mention the beautiful dial. This video was more of a rant than a review. I've had a multiple seikos and I wish they would fix their QC and accuracy. You can buy a hamilton or less and it will only be off a few seconds and this has been the case with 3 of watches my friends have. I'm only disappointed because they raised the price and not much have changed. I still think seiko is a fantastic brand under $1000, I just think they could be even better. I also wish they for rid of all their models with hardlex crystals as well. Thank you for watching
Is the watch too thick for its size?
I'd say, 12.9mm thick isn't bad considering 200m water resistance. Personally I would have preferred 12mm or less, but that's me being picky. I will say, it sits pretty good on the wrist. A lot better than the hamilton khaki titanium which is actually a little thinner, but it sits on my wrist weird
Yes, like all seikos
I hear that Glashutte have redone the bracelet so that it's now brushed!
That would be awesome. I'd love to see it. I'd also want a no date brushed version. That would be a dream.
Hey you got a source for that? Found this out today from another RUclips comment.. if so this seals it for me… must buy.
@DigitalPRCourses I've tried to look a little bit on Google, but couldn't find anything. If they do, that's an upgrade i definitely want. I wish they had a no-date option too. This is as close as you can get to the perfect luxury dive watch. Thank you for watching
@@TheWatchDoggg it’s true. ruclips.net/video/8s2MKUCzb3c/видео.html
Thanks man, got this watch as a graduation gift many years ago and good to know more about it
Absolutely. I hope you enjoy it, thank you for viewing my channel :)
Does it wear bigger or smaller tha! 38mm?
I'd say it wears like a 38, maybe slightly large3 38-39 because of the way the case sits on your wrist. It would be nice if the lug to lug was 45mm or below
@@TheWatchDogggwhat about the thickness?
@@absar8304 12.9mm is pretty good for 200m water resistance. I'd prefer 11 to 12mm thick, but in order to get that, especially at the process range, you might have to compromise water resistance
Nice watchs, meanwhile I'm after a Timex, had citizen and g shocks and orient mako watchs but just find the Timex Weekender easy to use while the G shocks and citizens Eco drive needs adjusting when using it. The simplicity of the Timex gives me joy a watch that doesn't take itself too seriously and that the fun part , saving for a alpainist and a Hamilton khaki.
Timex makes a great watch. My first watch ever was a timex indiglo from late elementary or middle school. I still have a timex Weekender in my room somewhere as a backup or to give to my girlfriend if she forgets hers. I've owned the alpinest before owning the baby alpinest (spb155) and it's a great watch, but I don't know if it's worth $700+ and the internal rotating compass drove me crazy because it always kept moving on my wrist. But I understand, buy what you like. It's a lovely shade of green. I do love the hamilton khaki. It's a killer watch and very versatile.
Great video my friend!
I have a blue SeaQ as well- on a nylon strap. Beautiful watch- perfect size. If you know you know.
Yes I completely agree. It's the most perfect dive watch they make (at least for me). I'm looking at getting another GO strap, but I'm having g a hard time resourcing one. How do you like your nylon strap?
Nice collection!
Thank you for watching
I just purchased this watch for $280 in nearly new condition and I love it. Such a timeless piece.
Wow that's a great deal! For the money, I'm really impressed with this watch and I feel like you have to spend 2 to 3 times more to get a better watch (around that size) that isn't a microbrand. It's a classic for a reason
Sounds like you’re reading off a script.
I have one but I don’t care much for it because it seems way too tight and heavy to open easily
Great vid! The Deep Sea Challenge sure seems to take the cake on depth. Definitely a nice conversation piece 👍 if you are willing to fork over the money 😂😂
A conversatuon piece for sure. If I had the money, I'd get something else lol
Stylish but deadly
Great video!
Wish it had solid non textured dial and gilt numbers instead of just yellow.
That would be perfect. I would also like a saphire display back. The Sinn 556i in green is cool too
Great watch, I just wish it was 2mm thinner 🤔
Major score! Congratulations! I love hearing stories like this. By the way, this is DEFINITELY genuine. I have owned a number of these over the years. I would say this would grade VG10 to F12, and maybe higher. Cheers.
Thank you for the input, I really appreciate it
Mr.KnifeCentral: What a primo 19th and 20th Century type set. It looks like a very high-end set and you have some really great examples of each. Even though the Bust dime is not XF, it looks like a really great evenly worn coin. You are correct about the Bust Quarter and Dollar. Those suckers just keep going up in value, even for those is rough shape. Thanks for posting this, and I am subscribing to your channel. Cheers.
Thank you so much, that means a lot. The bust dime is a little rough. Thank you so much for the sub. Have a great day:)
very nice set!!
Thank you, it took my a few years to build. Thank you for the sub, I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful day
Great video! Can I eat the coins? I’m very hungry.
Yes, they are very high in fiber
Nice video- great to see all those coins in one place. The coins are in decent shape.
Thank you, it took me a while to build this collection and I'm pretty picky when it comes to coins. I appreciate the comment! :)
Cool collection!
Thank you, I'd love to see an up to date SOTC sometime in the future :)
@@TheWatchDoggg sometime soon for sure!
I like your collection because it's not huge. So many people have too many watches and there is no way they wear them all.
Thank you, i feel the same way too. I want to be able to wear all of my collection and not just have a lot of watches for the sake of having them. I may end up making another video showing my updated collection. There are even less watches. I'm enjoying the simplicity
@@TheWatchDoggg yeah do an update video
Nice. 4 is a great number to have. I need to thin the herd.
I've had a bigger collection before and I much more enjoy having a smaller collection and outing my funds into those pieces instead of spreading my money
How has it kept time over the years? I’ve always loved this watch and was disappointed it was discontinued before I could get my hands on it. I finally got a great deal on eBay a few weeks ago but the watch runs about 5 minutes fast per day. Took it to a watch shop and was told magnetization was unlikely (would be dramatically faster if that were the case) and the watch would likely need servicing which would cost around $200 - Oof. I’d be fine if it was a minute a day but 5 minutes seems extreme. I will probably hold onto the watch and may replace the movement all together at a later time.
My watch has been running anywhere from minus 3 to 6 secs per day, but recently it's been around minus 4 seconds per day. I just got lucky and it's a great watch, especially when it was $200. Losing 5 minutes a day is unacceptable and It would would be a lot cheaper to replace the movement or upgrade to a different movement with hacking and hand winding. Seiko has been bothering me lately when it comes to their business practice and qc standards. I'll post a video soon.
the watch service shop is so over priced.. you can fix the magnetism issue yourself it is very easy.. just order the DEMAGNETIZER online it's very cheap only 5 to 8 dollars..
You got duped. That ebay seller sold that watch because it was losing 5 minutes a day. You bought someone else’s problem . Stay away from ebay
Killer straight forward collection, watch for every occasion. I wouldn’t change anything! I have a similar collection that consists of: Omega Seamaster 300 Professional Automatic 25318000 JUNGHANS Meister Telemeter chronoscope 027.3381.44 Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical H69439931 Orient Bambino II White dial Seiko Alpinist SARB017 Casio Gshock Casioak GA2100-1A1 Seiko 5 vintage 7009 black dial Seiko SSB331 Seiko SSC445 solar chrono Seiko Sub blue padi dial MOD (NH35)
Thank you so much. I love the omega and the junghans. Those two watches alone would be a great 2 piece collection. It looks like you have a lot of diversity. The seiko sarb017 has a beautiful dial
@@TheWatchDoggg thank you! Those were my last 2 purchases. Lots of different stuff, I like having variety for different occasions, few presents I only keep for that reason (solar seikos) but very content with the collection at this point.
@@Apetro89 that's great to hear. I'm glad you're appreciating your recent purchases. They are beautiful
@@TheWatchDoggg thank you! Really enjoyed watching yours as well! Keep up the great work!
Love this watch....the sarb017 Caseback will fit this watch.....I've done it.....also threw mine on an Uncle Seiko president style bracelet....this watch for me is a placeholder until I get a call for a Rolex Explorer.....and even then..... I'll still keep this one because that dial looks so good.
I like that idea. I haven't had experience with uncle seiko, but I've heard good things from them. Doesn't hate bracelet have solid endlinks? I think the seiko spb155 is very reminiscent of the explorer. It's a great watch for 10% of the price. I am considering selling it to fund the sinn 556 i
Just perfect!
Thank you:)
