good tune....nice neighbourhood
i'm digging this band. epic chilean doom metal. lol
@@independenceltd. Yeah it sounds real good.
@@garyh.238 Capilla Ardiente. First came out in 2009. Have an EP, a split and three full-length. I'll definitely be adding more to the collection.
@@independenceltd. Adding it to my "look for" list. Meanwhile I made a big haul of CDs yesterday at the used shop....lots of stuff I'm sure is right up your alley.
@@garyh.238 nice. let me know what you got.
Sounds like DC singing in the background. You're still working thru that box sounds like. General impression so far?
I like it. "Into the Light" was a nice surprise. Can't say it's something I'll play all the time, but there are some really good tunes on it.
@@independenceltd. Yes, for me, Into The LIght is the pick of the litter. Some decent trax here and there on the first two, but ITL is the most cohesive / most solid.
@@garyh.238 Definitely. If I'd heard that he released that solo album I'd completely forgotten about it.
@@independenceltd. It came out in late 2000 I believe. I picked it up in early 2001 after finding it by chance. I hadn't seen any promos about it before that.
@@garyh.238 I would've probably given it a few spins in 2000. Outside of Maiden and a couple of others there wasn't much going on that yr.
sleaszyrider.bandcamp.com/album/heavenblack-blindfolded
His early solo albums contained songs he had written on Deep Purple tour of the US in 76. They would have been used on Deep Purple follow up album Come Taste The Band. Hole in the sky would have been a great track for Purple in my opinion. Sadly after a brief and disastrous tour of GB the band split in the later part of 1976
I've been listening to "Northwinds" and "Into the Light" this morning. Good, solid stuff. Thanx for the info!
The original albums recorded in 77/78 were produced by Roger Glover. He has wanted to record under David Coverdale but record companies insist on releasing under Whitesnake name.
I can believe that.
The quiet” neighborhood must love “ you. Lol. Rock 🪨 on. The Donald 👍💯
😬🤣
Dammm . . Michael Savage likes White Snake?
i'm much better looking. 😆🤡
That Savatage Gutter Ballet is one on my list of "to gets" (remember, you're the one that intro'd me to that band via a recommend of HOTMK a couple of years ago). Today's acquisition is a 3 CD set of Chicago's Live 1971 at the JFK Center (previously unreleased). Had to get it for another fix of Terry Kath's guitar work.
nice. hadn't heard about that release.
@@independenceltd. Found it while browsing at the shop this evening. It's a Rhino release....the store put a date on the price sticker indicating Sept 24th, so it's only been out for about a month.
@@garyh.238 rhino usually does a pretty good job. and i do remember the HOTMK convo. 👍
@@independenceltd. Just opened it. The packaging is pretty sparse on this one....just the 3 CDs inside a folding cardboard sleeve with the tracks listed and some credits. No booklet or extras included. Minimal effort on Rhino's part this time.....only marginally better artwork than that recent McCartney live release.
@@garyh.238 well, that sux. hopefully the tunes make up for it.
A must get!!!
definitely!
Nice looking set. Way back in time, circa 1978 I had a vinyl copy of David Coverdale's Whitesnake - liked about half of it. Then about 15 or so years ago I got a CD compilation that combined songs from both it and Northwinds. Again liked about half of everything I heard on it. Picked up Into The Light in 2001...at first didn't like it much at all, but it has grown on me over the years. Most of the songs on those discs are quite sedate and mellow. Am interested in your takes on each of those three albums once you have been able to take them for a few spins.
I think that compilation you're talking about goes for around $50 now. I started with disc 6 cuz it has the oldest material. I expected it to be mellow, but the wide range of music caught me off-guard. especially how much deep-southern delta blues inspired tunes were on it. some bordering on country ballads. some ragtime thrown in; gospel, etc. i'm with you so far; half i like, half has a tendency to blend into the background.
@@independenceltd. So far sounds like we hear the first one the same way. For me, Blindman from it is the highlight. Not for nothing DC did a remake of it on the Ready n Willing album.
@@garyh.238 yes, noticed that one immediately. it also seems like there's a couple a riff ideas that he may have recycled for some early WS material as well.
@@independenceltd. Yes I think those first couple of solo albums were DC finding his feet as he started to assemble his early band. For me, Ready n Willing was the point where I came back on board to listen to DC. The 1987 album you mentioned....yes that was a big makeover, Hollywood-style. I did like / still do..."Still of the Night" (John Sykes riff, etc), but that's about it.
@@garyh.238 "Ready n' Willing" is great. I do like "Still of the Night," although it did always seem like "Slow an' East Part II" to me.
Not the biggest. Petty fan, however the 7️⃣9️⃣. Damn the TORPEDOES is an album I like a ton. Don’t do me like that , even the losers. Refugee. Good stuff. Thanks for this review. The Donald 👍💯
Definitely their finest album. I'd check out "Southern Accents" too, and "Wildflowers" is a great solo record from Petty. Cheers!
@@independenceltd. / i do own all albums from 76/85. But after that I didnt hate him , just kinda of fell off my radar. I know all the songs on that big 89 selling album. I may start revisiting him, he did have some good stuff. It’s the time element. lol 👍💯
@@garyjoyce2160 that '89 album is where he fell off for me too. didn't own it forever. i actually think the non-hits are the better songs on the album.
More live Rory! That is a must-add to my collection.

@@independenceltd. Will check with my banker...maybe he'll offer me a 2nd mortgage to help buy it! 😅
@@garyh.238 😬🤣
Lots of the hard and heavy stuff to keep your ears busy! Where do you find the time?
i gave up golf. lol
@@independenceltd. Good idea! Green fees for one round is worth at least 5 CDs! 😁
@@garyh.238 and that's not even counting the beer or the tips for the cart girls! 😆
@@independenceltd. Oh yeah! You're saving major bucks! That's all worth a couple of boxsets at least! 😅
@@garyh.238 definitely! you should check out "Voodoo Circle". you might like them. i wish i'd known they'd released an album this yr, i'd have got that one instead.
Petty is not an artist I have ever really explored. Heard him plenty on the radio but his more commercial stuff wasn't my cup of tea. If there are some good deeper tracks in his catalogue, I might check him out at some point.
I definitely prefer the Heartbreakers material from '76 - '85. I like his first two solo albums and then both Traveling Wilburys and Mudcrutch albums.
@@independenceltd. Will keep an eye out for those early ones and will take them for a spin.
@@garyh.238 sounds good

yep. love montrose, love a lot of hagar solo stuff, but never could get into Sam Halen, aside from a couple of songs.
That VH live is one I would like to get ahold of if I ever see it kicking around. Unfortunate that VH never released an official live album from the early DLR years. And very nice of that guy to send you all those extras, especially given all the tribulations he has had to contend with.
Yes, that VH is a nice snapshot in time. And a true show of character from drewsreligion at corpse paint records to be worried about my measly purchase while dealing with so many more important issues.

I already have it, bought in 2005, as well as the Who Cares from 2010 with 2 of the bonus tracks.....so now, for one other bonus song, as much as I'm curious, doubt it's worth paying another $25 bucks for another copy of it. As for the music itself, and the players - top notch! I love that album. 9.0 at least!!
yikes. yeah, mine was half that...and in US dollars. unfortunately, i can't sell my 2005 copy on discogs cuz they tell me it's an "unlicensed" version.
@@independenceltd. Odd! Is it an import? And how about the 96 Dep Sessions....what's your thoughts on it? I have had my copy as soon as it came out in 2004....loved it, still do, however I think Fused might now have surpassed it for me. I still give Dep at least an 8.5.
@@garyh.238 It says it's on Sanctuary Records, so maybe they released it without permission? no clue. I remember liking DEP better than Fused but I need to go back and revisit it, cuz Fused was sounding pretty damn good.
@@independenceltd. Strange - yeah maybe a ltd. rights / distribution issue. Yes I loved Dep from the moment I got it in 2004. A few months later when Fused came out, I was a bit disappointed, but over time it has really grown on me. I love both but I like Fused now just a tad more. You got any of Hughes' Voodoo Hill CDs (w. guitarist Dario Mollo)?
@@garyh.238 I only own the debut. Like it a lot. I hear "Waterfall" is kick ass, but I'd get both if I ever came across them for a good price.
Cool artwork. Looks kind of like what you'd see on a Tool album. Sounds like it falls a bit short music-wise though.
yep. anytime you have to mention limp bizkit in a music review it's not going well. two songs totally out of place, ruining the whole vibe. don't know why they couldn't just have formed another nu metal side project. it's not like everyone isn't in a hundred bands these days. disappointing, for sure.
@@independenceltd. Unfortunate there wasn't a chamber of sober second thought guiding them on that release.

Weeds....I know all about that...dandelions, crab grass and creeping charlie. Battled those all summer and have done for the past few years, buts it's never ending. As for GTR, I bought that when it came out way back circa 1987 or so I think - a couple of decent poppy tracks, and the guitar solo Hackett to Bits is ok, but beyond that, it's pretty mediocre. Recent acquisition...and well overdue at that.....Thin Lizzy's Live & Dangerous. Just got it yesterday afternoon, will check it out later this week.
agree on the GTR. i was going to just take the weed eater to the weeds...but there were too many and i ran out of trimmer line right as i finished edging, so i'll just mow (hopefully for the last time this yr) on tues. Love Lizzy and "Live & Dangerous".
@@independenceltd. The only real way to get rid of them is by digging them out by the roots.....but that takes a huge amount of time. Yes indeed, Lizzy...I have heard lots of good things about that album. Looking forward.

Might have to get that one (despite Axel being on it!) And speaking of Derek Sherinian...picked up Black Utopia at the used shop the other day.
quality release. definitely happy with it. let me know how that sherinian album is.
@@independenceltd. Will do!!
I have gone through Sherinian's Black Utopia a couple of times. I really like it a lot. There aren't songs on it per se, but rather, tracks containing prog rock instrumental compositions. Some rock hard, others are jazz rock fusion-like ( a Jeff Beck cover), some are epic. Top notch playing by a cast of characters joining Sherinian on this project: Simon Phillips on drums; Billy Sheehan & Tony Franklin on bass; Jerry Goodman on electric violin; and the guitarists: Yngwie Malmsteen, Al Di Meola, Steve Lukather, and Zakk Wylde! Listening right now for a third time while writing this. Giving it a solid 8.0, and it's gradually approaching 8.5 territory!

The Black Crowes - apart from some of their early 90's radio hits, and the Jimmy Page cameos in the late 90's, not a band I ever delved into. I know they had a blues-rock thing going on, but the intra-band conflicts between the brothers Robinson made me think they must be the American version of Oasis....a group I got no use for. All that said, never got into them, so beyond the radio stuff, I have no idea about their music, nor anything about the deeper tracks on their albums, etc. Got any suggestions?
